Matt Good Plays Piano?

Does anyone know if Matt plays the piano? I've just recently heard All Together for the first time and I was wondering if it's him playin the piano. He's always had someone else doing the keyboard when I've seen him live. While we're on the topic, does Matt play any other instruments other than gitar?

Yes, MG plays piano. It says so in the liner notes of both Avalanche and WLRRR. Also, he can play the bass and i think he could play the violin although he gave it up at an early age and forgot how to play it.

he played violin when he was pretty young. i think he stopped when he was fourteen. i recall this from somewhere. he didn't pick up a guitar until he was in his midteens, i believe.

 

i'm pretty sure it also says in the liner notes that he and warne livesey (producer of the universal mg(B) recordings) do the string arrangements as well.

 

he can also play drums, i believe. i think he does a ton of stuff, as he essentially wrote all the songs. more or less. that's kind of ambiguous, but whatever.

I would assume that was Dave playing the piano in All Together since he usually was the piano guy in mgb.

I read that in the WLRRR liner notes, but I don't hear any piano in the songs. Which ones have this?

its a safe bet that matt can play any instrument that is played in his band. Once you're in a band its pretty easy to pick up the other instruments.

There's that one track on Loser Anthems where he tries to play the Trolley song from Mr. Dressup on the piano, only to fail because he wants to be looking at chicks, not the keys. ;)
