Hey i was wondering if anyone can enlighten me with what Matthew's influences and favorite musicans are

and a pile more that i've forgotten about.

 

i think all the ref's are scattered in the manifestos.

I know Pete Townshend is his musical hero. Well I don't know that, but I'm pretty sure that's the case. I know opening for The Who and meeting him was a big deal for Matt. Also I believe the title for WLRRR was Who inspired and songs like Ex-pats are pretty similar sounding to the Who.

I've heard him say Talk Talk and Mozart

he told me that he's been to many U2 concerts (dating back to the WAR tour in 1983) , i suppose that counts as an influence

Im pretty surprised at that actually. And about the Who, yea I heard they inspired him, though Im not sure about the title of WLRRR, unless it was their live sets using simply the guitars, white light and simple music. He said something along those lines in an interview, I can't remember hte exact details.

He was talking on the phone with someone and they were talking about the simplicity of the album or some such thing and the title just came the them.

Wasnt it about going on tour with only acoustics and white light? the rock and roll review was added later I thought.

I've heard his favorite album is a Talk Talk album....so I'd say he's a large fan of theirs.....and influenced by them.
