Oh, unless you're going by the Star Wars movies, but that's just not fair.  You can't help but love her in Garden State.

True. I take it back.

I guess I just don't like Episode I & II (& subsequently her role).

Which pains me to say.. it really does..

The problem with Natalie Portman in Star Wars is that she wasn't allowed to act. But when she acts, she's fantastic. And oh so pretty.

i don't thik anybody acted in those movies.. like good acting would somehow curse the movie

My friend seen the preveiws and got my expectations up for a completely different kind of movie. It was cool in the beginning and after.. I don't know I just expected it to be different.

I still thought it was good but probably not my favorite.

This was a beautiful film. I saw it way back in April or May with a friend of mine at a special screening and when it came to our theatre we saw it again, and again with more friends.

As for those that called the plot "thin" well many indie films are like that. They require a suspension of disbelief. The fact that Garden State was so commercially successful is impressive.

i thought t was an awesome movie for a few reasons

1. Zach Braff was hilarious at some points... i mean, he's a funny guy

2. the plot was seriously cool... i wanna know how he came up with that whole idea, its pro

3. Natalie Portman is hot

I loved this movie too....I was blown away while in the theatre thinking through the whole thing *holy shit I love this soundtrack*....

This was a good year for me....I rarely purchase new movies....but this year (ok last, whatever) I bought GS and Snow Walker - which was another one that I absolutely adored....2 dvds in one year....whoda thunk it with all the crap film cos are churning out!

;) jennzebel I love your avatar!

just to be "on topic", i will state again that i loved this movie. and yes, throughout the movie, i too was in awe at the soundtrack to it. it is VERY RARE that i will love all the music in a movie. i really don't recall not liking any of it.

and amazingly the actual soundtrack IS the music from the movie! (it's happened before.. all the good music in the movie was NOT on the soundtrack...)

My favorite scene of the movie was near the end, when they're in the bathtub, crying. And she says something like "this is it [meaning life], this is real". And he begins to realize that feeling is better than not feeling, in fact that feeling is the only reality. Not feeling = not being.

It made me appreciate that you don't have to necessarily enjoying yourself to be appreciating life, that even if you feel awful like he did in this scene, it's all part of the package.

I still think the breakfast scene at Mark's with the knight is one of the funniest things ever written.

Wrong. Do you know what comedy is?

I gotta go with Tamar on this one, it was good but surely doesn't live up to this hype surrounding it.

I guess comedy is pretending to be Kenny Loggins?

It's my opinion that it's funny. Just because you disagree doesn't make my opinion wrong. Telling me it's wrong just makes you seem ignorant.

could have been alot better. could have been alot worse.

i would give it a B but because of all this hipster hype (aside from this board) I will give it a C+

Portman is a beaut though.
