This thread presents me with the opportunity to ask something I've been wondering about for a while now...what exactly is an EP?? Stupid question, but I get the immigrant excuse, remember?

EP definition

 

EP= extended play; too long for a single but not long enough to be an LP.

Comes from the days of vinyl records: EP's were 7" records, either 45rpm or 33rpm.

 

LP= long playing; regular

In records: LP's were 12", 33 rpm.

 

Singles: 7", 45rpm
