Pierre Trudeau is probably the name that will have the biggest link to Canada in the next hundred years. Guys like David Suzuki and Terry Fox are good, but don't really mean 'Canada' to me. If I looked at a list of their accomplishments and what they've done, there isn't too much that tells me that they're Canadian and that they've made this country significantly better.

David Suzuki, Tommy Douglass, Matthew Good, lol

What's that racist hockey announcer guy? I can't recall his name riht now, but man, he definitley shouldn't have been on the cbc list.

Is his name Don Sherry?

Is it Don Cherry? I just remember he said something racist about French people, and he encourages violence in hockey.

And why should a guy who talks about sports be in the top ten Greatest Canadians. The local food bank volounteers should rank higher, lol

he made a remake about onlu europeans wearing face masks. some thought this racist, i thought it simply an observation. you want him not to say it just because its not politically correct, even if it's true?

im not saying hes not racist, i haven't heard most of his other remarks, but i think hes more misunderstood then anything.

As for why he should be in the top ten? Love him or hate him, he's a Canadian icon. I'm not totally familiar with the criteria they base this on, but when you specify greatest CANADIAN you can't really just take some anonymous but helpful guy off the street...if nobody knows him, he could just as easily be from Belgium or South Africa or something.

Trudeau's name has the biggest link because he had the biggest platform out of those three you mention. It's funny when Auf De Maur said that a dead guy shouldn't win. So, if Suzuki died tomorrow, then what? I found that argument pretty funny...

Nah, I'm voting for Trudeau. He influenced a whole generation and he made Canadian politics interesting. But I would really like Suzuki to win because people would start paying more attention to what he says.
