The Hurt Locker

Amelie

The Dark Knight

Iron Man

Black Hawk Down

The Bridge

The Departed

Gangs of New York

Pan's Labyrinth

Sympathy for Lady Vengeance

just watched The Departed again last night, such a great movie. Very well written.

The thing that frustrates me about The Departed is that Martin Scorsese gets SO much credit for directing it but in reality, it is hardly any different than Infernal Affairs (which is the Asian movie that it is a remake of)

After watching Martyrs, I have to add it to the list. Act one, revenge story. Act two, a bit of "torture porn" for lack of a better term. Act three, philosophical mindfuck. Great film.

Der Untergang

The Fog of War

Inconvenient Truth

The 11th Hour

A Beautiful Mind

Mystic River

It's odd, there aren't a ton of really strong dramas that stand out in my mind from this decade. Though i've yet to see No Country For Old Men & There Will Be Blood. Its been a wicked decade for documentaries and fantasy flicks though.

How can it make your best list if you haven't seen it? BECAUSE YOU BELIEVE THE HYPE but seriously it is great, the stark soundtrack absolutely makes the film.

I really enjoyed last year's Let the Right One In, creepy little swedish vampire film.

I still enjoy watching The Prestige from time to time, and also Marjane Satrapi's graphic novel come to life Persepolis is just brilliant.

Let the Right One In is fantastic! After seeing that and Martyrs (even though Martyrs is a joint France/Canada production), I have decided that European horror-type movies trump most everything that is produced in North America.
