Changes To Matt's Site

Recommended Posts

Posted

Just a heads up... Matt posted an entry about the future changes to the blog. He will continue to write entries, but there will no longer be comments or regular contributors. He is also changing the platform to a simpler design. Also, you can now add him to Facebook. I guess this means that traffic on this site may be increasing?

Don't worry too much about the blog disappearing. He's done that a few times before but he usually puts it back up (comments and all) after the trolls get bored.

I wouldn't worry too much; Matt's always messing around with the site format. Admittedly I want miss the community features too much cause I never use them. I'm a total lurker (both here and there.) I am gonna miss the contributers though. Roy's entries are often friggin' hilarious.

I'm pretty confused about the change in the contributing authors myself. Matt says the current contributors will still be making guest entries so ... what exactly is the difference between making guest entries and being a contributing author? It sounds like the same thing to me. Maybe they just won't be listed as official MG.org authors on the site?

Well, as long as Roy, Patrick, Dale, et al still pitch in, I don't care what their title is. =P

I will definitely miss the comments as I love reading about everyone's opinions and experiences... but it will be a lot simpler to maintain for sure. I can't wait to see what the new format will look like.

it must be such a pain, because they just changed it not too long ago, he has so much stuff going on, with the cd and all the problems and miscommunications with the preordering. he needs a vacation lol

I'll miss the comments. They've taught me how to carry a coherent political conversation. I mean, I've always had my opinion, but this is the first time I've been able to express them properly.

Just a thought I'm going to throw out: would it be possible to create a forum or even a sticky thread dedicated specifically to commenting on the latest blog entry? I know threads pop up on this main forum about some blog entries (mainly about music/artistic projects/tours he's working on or announced) and I know there's a forum for political debate, but I'm talking about one with thread topics strictly for the latest blog, be it political or otherwise.

At the very least, someone tell me I'm not completely crazy in thinking this would be a good idea. ;)

This is an odd, and probably overly nosy question but ... does anyone else get the impression that Matt, Dale, and Duane had a falling out? Someone made a comment on the blog asking whether they're still on good terms and now I'm noticing ... things ... that I hadn't noticed before ...

I feel really bad about bringing this up since it's obviously none of my business--plus it's ultimately irrelevant if Matt keeps the blog going--so feel free to just tell me it's none of my business and that I should bug off and get a life. It has been bothering me, though; I always thought of them as a dynamic web trio of sorts and, lame as this might sound, I'd be sad to see them split ways.

don't worry about it. mg will be fine.

though as for his website troubles, i feel his pain. running/maintaining a website is extremely time consuming and expensive. it's even worse if you have to write everything from scratch and by yourself.

hes changing it again....? and i just got used to the old one...i liked the older one, where he psoted the rarer songs that you could lsitne to, but thats gone.

I liked the old one, too... more changes to get it more confusing... anyway, we'll have to get used to the new layout! :-)

It appears Matt is somewhat frustrated with the design as it stands but, in all honesty, I have seen much, much worse. I wish he would stop putting it down all the time, that's all. I don't care if he can't afford / would rather not pay for an all-singing, all-dancing site with enough bells and whistles to support a fucking orchestra. It works just fine.

It crashed last night when so many people were trying to access it, so it sure is popular.

;)
