What was released around the Avalanche time was Weapon (soundtrack aka instrumental), acoustic versions of Near Fantastica and Lullaby, and the original cut of Near Fantastica.

That part of the acoustic Near Fantastica gives me chills, every time. It's awesome. I'm sure I screwed up the lyrics but you know how it goes.

If I can ever get my friends to take a stab at near fantastica, I'd like to open acoustic with that intro... maybe start the bass as a segue into electrifying it at the last two verses, and jump the rest of the band in after the last line, extend the beginning, before the vocals go in.

 

It's such an awesome song for a strong rhythm section.

I've actually thought of something similar to this for the song, but I don't have anyone to play with right now.

Just noticed this: the album version of Weapon clocks in at 4:52 minutes long, while the intrumental clocks in at 5:58. According to my mp3's.

Then it appears you have a weird album version, because in my iTunes it says 5:58, and instrumental is 5:59.
