I Can't Listen To The Album Version Of Con Anymore

Stupid fantastic live show has ruined it for me, specifically the way Matt sings the last 30-45 seconds of the song:

Champions - Clicky

The quality is pretty bad, but you can get the idea..."To Process the rivers..." and on. Whenever I listen to the studio version now I can't help but think to myself that that's how the song should be sung.

Anyone else agree?

Edit - Damn, that title looks weird...Meant it to be CoN. Should have put Champions instead. I can't edit it, can I?

Champions of Nothing was not a favorite of mine at first. I was very impressed with the live version though, and the album version has grown on me since. I agree that he sung the end of the song a with a lot more emotion and enthusiasm live this tour, which was great. I just think that the album version takes too long to get going, live the long into was good though (espcially for an opener, very dramatic). I think that the album version could maybe be cut down from 9 to around 7 minutes and be improved (only in my opinion).

Yeah, I thought the same thing when I saw this for the first time too. Same thing for the drumming in that while I think Pat is fantastic drummer, for whatever reason he was "way" too reserved in the recording for the album version.

Still a great song though either way.

It sounds amazing with the added intensity at the end of the song, I prefer it over the Hospital Music version of CoN. But still, I love the album version too.

I also preferred it when Matt sang "Don't fuck the princess, fuck the maid" during I'm A Window live. Maybe I was just amused with another f-word.

yeah, i was so amazed when he sang the last chorus there just seems to be alot more energy to it which adds to the live experience. but the album version is still extremely amazing!!

luckily this was at the massey hall concert and i will be able to hear over and over again till my dying days once the live cd is out ;)

I have to admit I've heard a life version of NoF that is just badass!!!! I like it better than the studio version.

i love both versions.

As for Black Helicopter, i can't listen to the album version compared to the demo & live versions. I loved the demo version of that song & couldn't stop listening to it, i just cant stomach the cd version. Its just not as raw & the "I want" section is SO annoying.

I completely agree with the topic title. After hearing the live version, the album version seems to lack passion in that final minute of the song.

Man....I can't wait for Massey Hall.

The raise in his voice is just an example of that extra something you get when you seem him live... he occasionally adlibs or adds more emotion to a particular lyric which changes the song often to make even better
