thewickernightmare Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Matt's posted a demo of Silent Army In The Trees on his site.....won't be up long....i'm really liking it...longer and more rocking than the acoustic live version
PsychoLamb Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 I'm digging it. He seems to be throwing in a lot more solos in these demos then his previous work.
Guest Prosis Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 (edited) Pretty good! ;) Edited April 28, 2008 by Prosis
AnOceanPearl Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Quick stab at lyrics: What will you find, where will you be? When you gotta trade for company Those plastic guns and infantry For a silent army in the trees Well, this ain't the woods behind the house There ain't nobody screaming out For you to come inside and eat You're just holding your friends and watching them bleed Wore camouflage on Halloween A plastic bag, an M16 Door to door and house to house There ain't nobody handing it out Yeah, nothing's ever what it seems When you're kicking in teeth and wishing in dreams Just plastic guns and infantry for a silent army in the trees Baby, don't you let me down A world away and still somehow I can't shake the feeling that you're out With another man's arms wrapped tight around you At night it's cold, we sit and freeze Running red lights in our humvees Never thought I'd live to see the day I'd be Afraid of little kids playing in the street Well, this ain't the woods behind the house There ain't nobody screaming out For you to come inside and eat You're just holding your friends and watching them bleed I'm on fire, but all ice on the outside That old man in the sky, well, he's all ice on the outside A million wail out in the streets We watch the stage, but burn the seats Too many lanes to get along, we ain't got much without one to stand on Sometimes at night, I hear it roll A hundred cars long pulling out slow Like the engineers inside my head Cold and dark like the side of the bed Yeah, nothing's ever what it seems, and even if it is ends justify means With plastic guns and infantry for a silent army in the trees And I'm on fire, but all ice on the outside That old man in the sky, well, he's all ice on the outside
Paranoid Android Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 blarrg! missed another demo again! I really wanted to hear this one too, the song was fantastic acoustic!
Gomo Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)
thewickernightmare Posted April 28, 2008 Author Posted April 28, 2008 I'd have to say that this is my favourite demo that I've heard thus far.
spring90 Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Probably my favorite so far as well. Guess he won't be posting any more demos though: http://www.matthewgood.org/2008/04/web-30/
AnOceanPearl Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 (edited) Hurray for leaving tabs open, made a couple adjustments in the third verse upon listening again: What will you find, where will you be?When you gotta trade for company Those plastic guns and infantry For a silent army in the trees Well, this ain't the woods behind the house There ain't nobody screaming out For you to come inside and eat You're just holding your friends and watching them bleed Wore camouflage on Halloween A plastic bag, an M16 Door to door and house to house There ain't nobody handing it out Yeah, nothing's ever what it seems When you're kicking in teeth and wishing in dreams Just plastic guns and infantry for a silent army in the trees Baby, don't you let me down A world away and still somehow I can't shake the feeling that you're out With another man's arms wrapped tight around you At night it's cold, we sit and freeze Running red lights in our humvees Never thought I'd live to see the day I'd be Afraid of little kids playing in the street Well, this ain't the woods behind the house There ain't nobody screaming out For you to come inside and eat You're just holding your friends and watching them bleed I'm on fire, but all ice on the outside That old man in the sky, well, he's all ice on the outside A muted wail out in the streets We watch the stage, but burn the seats Too many lanes to get along, we ain't got much without one to stand on Sometimes at night, I hear it roll A hundred cars long pulling out slow Like the engineers inside my head Cold and dark like your side of the bed Yeah, nothing's ever what it seems, and even if it is ends justify means With plastic guns and infantry for a silent army in the trees And I'm on fire, but all ice on the outside That old man in the sky, well, he's all ice on the outside Edited April 28, 2008 by AnOceanPearl
pismo Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Thanks for the lyrics. If I'm not mistaken that last verse is new. At least I can't recall that I've heard it on any of the live versions of the song that I've heard.
jnak00 Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Wow, I checked his site this morning and just now and I still missed it ;)
noise_pollution Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 It is pretty good, and it is still on his site for those who care to look.
Manchalivin Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 I like it. Good tune and cool that he put a solo in there.
Gomo Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 It is pretty good, and it is still on his site for those who care to look. I don't see it. But oh well. No matter. I'll hear it eventually.
Prometheon Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 *sigh* Missed another one. The new verse looks pretty cool and I'd have liked to hear what he did with the instrumentation.
Gomo Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Having not heard this demo, I'm still kind of hoping that maybe there's some kind of b-side acoustic version of Silent Army.
noise_pollution Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Trust me it's there....cough cough 'comments section'..cough cough
Gomo Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 (edited) Sheesh I'm surprised that comment is still there. Honestly I don't even think I want to listen to it. I feel like I don't want to ruin a potential surprise. It'll be 20 times more awesome if I wait. I've learned this after feeling like Hospital Music was less cool after hearing the streamed songs on the site. I will show restraint, despite the fact that I effing love Silent Army in the Trees! Kinda funny how everyone went in that link and cursed the guy out though...haha. PS: Hospital Music was and is still awesome, just slightly less of awesome upon its release since I had already heard it. Edited April 28, 2008 by Gomo
PsychoLamb Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 (edited) Having not heard this demo, I'm still kind of hoping that maybe there's some kind of b-side acoustic version of Silent Army. You confuse me, as I sent it to your inbox some 3 hours ago. Edited April 28, 2008 by PsychoLamb
noise_pollution Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Yeah Gomo gotta love the hypocrisy of the internet!!!
noise_pollution Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 I agree. The live version just had 'soul' that the 'studio' version lacks is is still great though and still just a demo. But oh well maybe it will grow on me...not I downloaded it or anything...(pulls collar)....
