A very underrated band.

Would have been very interesting to see how they matured as a band, with their 3rd and 4th albums, if Shannon had not passed on.

I actually really like "Nico" (1996). The thing I've found with Blind Melon is that their music is appreciated more after repeated listening...(especially their Soup LP).

I have yet to hear the recently released "For My Friends" (2008), with the new singer / songwriter Travis Warren.

Though, I am very much anticipating seeing the band play live once they set a Vancouver date. From what I've heard, they are still very tight.

All I've heard is the song "No Rain" which I fucking despise. Is that indicative of their sound, or should I check out some of their other stuff?

nah... no rain was a one off basically, they have so much to their songs when you really give a listen. great song writing. i'd say check them out, you'd probably be pleasantly surprised.

One of my ex's did an INCREDIBLE a capella version of "No Rain" that still gives me chills thinking about it 3 years later.

Also, the new Blind Melon album with their new singer, Travis Warren, picks up right where they left off before Shannon Hoon died. It is a very very very good record.
