Yeah, but generally, the movie was over processed with effects too.

Story aside, it lost a lot of grittiness that the past 3 movies had because everything looked so...CG'd.

I don't think the movie was that bad. It was decent for an Indiana Jones movie. I don't think it's the worst of the 4.

Also, I don't know if it was Spielberg's idea or not, but it probably was.

The only really CG'd parts to me were the atomic scenes and the temple scenes.

Edit: and the ants.

CG isn't the problem, it's the way it's used. Look at I Am Legend or The Day After Tomorrow - crap. Total crap. Starship Troopers on the other hand is 90% CG and looks great even though it's a decade old.

Fuckers.

Fuck Starship Troopers.

Peter Jackson is the man who knows how to do modern special effects. This is the forumla: get some awesome sfx talent, use practical effects as much as humanly possible, and only use CG in those scenes & instances when practical effects won't work and/or will look like ass.

If Lucas did LOTR all the freakin orcs would be CG & the Battle of Helm's Deep would look like the videogame.(not to mention a horrid script).

My children will never see Star Wars or Star Trek. I don't want Trekkies or Star Wars whatever you call them. No way in hell. Showers everyday and brushing teeth and no WoW... ugh...

Good for you, preventing two of the most prominent and influential stories from falling into their grasp. Nothing like censoring shit. It worked for the Nazi's and their book burning gatherings.

You book burning Nazi.

Jarrod, dude don't deprive them of such imagination broadening experiences...Stuff like that is what inspired me to write. You could be preventing a young Asimov from being influenced.
