he is good at the monotone, emotionless, expressionless thing. and the terminator franchise bottomed out with the sarah connor chronicles pilot (i can only assume the rest of the series blew equally, if it's even still on, or made it to air at all), so there's no where to go, really, but up.

I'm still torn about T3. On one hand, if you look at it as just a straight up action film, it plays it's part wonderfully, but as a Terminator film, it doesn't hold even a keychain light to the first 2.

i've bitched about her appearance in it here before. it made me sick to see her delivering stupid one liners, and playing a heartless, graceless cyborg. when she kicked ass in firefly/serenity, it was like watching her dance. the one fight scene i made it through in the sarah connor pilot was just like every terminator vs. terminator fight scene from before. to be fair, i didn't even make it through the whole episode, so, maybe, later on, she turns out to be a machine of style and grace.

A friend of mine saw an extended trailer for the show at a convention, and he said it really looks better than what we'd seen previously.

I'm probably going to watch that, so that what day I can write an essay about how it does or does not transgress gender roles. It looks like it's going to take those inescapably cool elements (robots, time travel, ACTION!) and make a series out of it. I think it would make a good series, like if they remade the Incredible Hulk TV series.
