wow, i harsh missed out on this thread....anyway toadman you are diagnosing bolshevick communism, and not communism under marx original view...under marx the ultimate goal of communism is to do away with government all together...so how can the state own things if it doesnt exist?...secondly under marx the concept of ownership is also under attack "each accoridng to their need" so if you need a certain amount of food you get it, if you need clothing it is supplied...however for national product it belongs to everyone..thus no one owns anything....or everyone owns everything...either way the concept of ownership doesnt really exist. therefore, how can the unexistant state own anything when the concept of ownership no longer exists. Furthermore marx never stated that communism was a system of government or a political idealogy...rather he meant it as an economic system where everyone has everything they need and no one has far more than they need. the whole government ownership was meant as a step to dissolving ownership and government not as a platfrom for dictatorships and it could very well have been a democratic communist goverment...what we see in the world is the russian interpretation of it, where communism is less about inheriting utopia and more about taking care of the rich (much like capitalism) and was used as a system of government and political idealogy not an economic system...so in summary communism was meant as an economic system opposite to capitalism and not a system of government and dont let the russian perversion of communism ruin the merits of the system go communism!!!

Ludlum has died, that is why the movies have been able to take such "artistic freedom" from the novels (i read all three). There are soooo many differences between the books and the movies....only names and certain concepts have been kept, like the fact bourne loses his memory. What really rankles me is what they have done with marie, she was supposed to be a Canadian...and they made her into a frenchy....gah anyway, i did enjoy both movies (i saw supremacy last night)...especially the fighting and the car chases (as i dont find any of the males in the movie hot....like deth)..i especially liked how they tried to keep the fighting and car chasing mildly realistic, what with the fighting being grappling and the use of weapons rather than a whole lot of boxing, and the car chasing uses the real method of shifting, and avoiding the brakes, and instead using the tires themselves to slow down.....im such a nerd ;)

why do people keep bashing firefly....i loved that show...i mean the concept was odd, and the actual space bits of it were at best mediocre....what made it good though had to be the sense of humor...the interplay of the characters and their reaction to the situations were very excellent...besides the security forces were wearing starship trooper armor ;)

dont knock firefly, that show had potential....i havent watched it regularly since they cancalled it, but my gosh, some good lines in that one....and what was a very clever character humor system...i seriously busted a gut watching this show!...and the whole space western was cool "the following tale of alien encounters is true, and by true i mean false, they are lies, but entertaining ones, and in the end is that not the truth? the answer is no" "keep watching the skiis!...i mean skies" i love that episode of the simpsons!

well i have a distinct advantage dan, my computer dwells in a room with a radio/CD player, a television and multiple fans, there is a bathroom in the adjoining room.....now if only i could get food delivered....

lol i know, "fast as B------" cant remember the last bit oh and i saw the full trailer for the thunderbirds movie, and while it is a kid movie, it might actually be decent (thunderbirds afterall was a kids tv show). besides they cept the count down and the tradiional looks for the ships....ill see it no matter how bad it sucks

oh agreed on the dodgeball, it was stupid and low brow and full of weird camios....but still good fun. I went with someone who tends to dislike low brow humor and they got a kick out of it (they didnt like zoolander, odly enough)
