In the Aeroplane Over the Sea is one of the best records of the 90s. His first record has a few of his best songs, but it's not nearly as good, overall.

Nice record. It's no Last Broadcast, but still one of the year's best, thus far.

It's important to note that no Decemberists' record is complete without at least one song that makes you embarassed to play that shit in front of your friends. I remember brigning Her Majesty in to work and everybody thought I'd lost my fucking mind. Things were kinda cool at first, but after 'Chimbley Sweep' came on, they were never able to look at me the same ever again. ;)

The new single is fucking awful. The Green Album & Maladroit were shitty albums, but at least they each had a couple interesting singles & a few solid album tracks. Apparently, 'Beverly Hills' does not reflect the rest of the material on the new record, but my expectations have been drastically lowered. Had they released something mediocre, yet slightly charming, like 'Hashpipe,' there wouldn't be as much reason to worry.

Actually, I totally agree. Though I do feel it'll be a real fuckin' disappointing year if Silent Alarm actually ends up on top. British artists who've released good albums over the past few years: Bark Pyychosis Bloc Party Franz Ferdinand Doves The Streets Clinic Dizzee Rascal Super Furry Animals Basement Jaxx Boards of Canada Delgados Radiohead Hood Also, the UK has a lot of interesting music coming out of the Grime scene. Something which, at first, I tried to avoid. But after having a few really cool singles thrown my way, I've begun to pay a little more attention to what's going on in Grime (apart from Dizzee Rascal).

Smokey Robinson always seems to be vastly underrated.

I've seen both of them on Soulseek.

That's pretty much how I feel about this one. The record's a solid 7.0 - 7.5 at best. The music's real pretty, but the whole thing comes off as being kinda pointless. Although, I do remember hearing a couple songs on the record which are as good, if not better than anything from Dead Cities..
