Nazi Party And Community Service

How are they not socialist? They almost always nationalize factories and hold the collective over the individual. Granted they aren't Marxist-socialist or the "Liberal" socialism of Modern Europe, but they most certainly had socialist tendencies. -
Lesson: Don't kill white people. They bite.

The federal NDP doesn't have any type of record. And what provincal NDP are we talking? BC?

Canada's Legal Age Of Sexual Consent Is 14 !
TheKwas replied to Moonlight_Graham's topic in Politics and Debate: WRONG!
Keep it the same. I don't want to be charged with any bullshit law if I plan on having sex before I'm 18. Plus, most are sexually mature at 14, so you would be considered a pedophile if you did have sex with a 14 year old. -
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Thanks for the laugh... Unfortunatly, that's the way it is, we either pay for it ourselves, or we pay for it through taxes. I'd go with the first, because I don't like the government in control of too much money, and second, education directly beniefs the individual firstly, and society secondary. I don't want your average single mother paying extra taxes to have some already better-off kids get higher paying jobs and become upper-class. However, I don't want your poor-schmuck joe who was raised by Mrs average single mother to work a 18 hour day job so he can pay for an one hour university class. Instead lets make Student loans 100% interest free during your time in University, allow everyone to get them, and if the student doesn't pay them back 7 years after University, then we can start charging interest. That way the individual himself pays for his education and thus doesn't hamper the rest of society for something he alone beniefts from, but he doesn't have to pay when he doesn't have money, but insteads pays when he's making big bucks. God I'm so tired... I hope I wasn't rantly mindlessly.

Hell, let's just move on to dictatorship and fuck the minorities that slow down the whole process.

Driving high is 100x easier than driving drunk. According to my friends...

Unforunatly I consider the NDP nothing more than a party to vote due to lack of real parties.

Kayriss: I understood you, but I was making the point that nationalism can be good... for people of that nation (although it does lead them to blind loyaty), but it's destructive for others that don't consider themselves of that nation. It makes them put one nationality over another. History has shown numerous times the horrid nature of nationalism.

We have no need to transport our own troops anywhere. Our military should be a self-defense thing. But we can still help other countries, but we must do it within a coalition of countries. You say it's an embarrassment, well it's only an embarassment if you think it's one. I think it's a good sign that we aren't able to start an offensive war on our own. I don't want Canada running around the world on it's own. So we should all become cops? I would hope not, the only real threat that Austrailia has are terrorists that want a united Oceania. Even if we were in Austrailia's position, we would have a NEED for more military then. We don't have a need right now for military, and thus we should bother with one. I'll admit that I'm against free University education, but that said our student loans program has to be supported ALOT more and completely interest-free.

When was the last time I saw American troops doing anything for Canada? At the most we should get some Subs for the North and that's it. We don't have anyone to protect ourselves from, we're like big Iceland (A nation without a military, disproving your "every country needs a military" arguement, and there are plenty of other armyless examples as well) that isn't as enviromentally friendly. Also, I franky don't want to see Canada taking solo action in any Peacekeeping mission, so I see no problem with borrowing other people's boats. International problems and actions call for international co-operation. If we cut all government spending on worthy "socialist" programs and raise the spending on military programs, we are heading in a military Keynesian direction. And if you aren't aware of the troubles that come with using Keynesain direct management viva the Military, then frankly I think you should stop talking with me and read a few books. Did you pay attention to the election coverage at all? Numerous shows interviewed economist in regards to all the party's platforms. It was even mentioned during the debate. I have no clue if the reviews even exist online, let alone me being able to find them.
-
Nations aren't the best choice either. But Karyriss is so totally off on what we're talking about here. Lets ask Tibetans what they think of Chinese Nationalism? Or East Timor of Indonesia nationalism? Or Quebecans of Canadain Nationalism? Blind loyality to a certain state, region, city, nation, ect just because thats were you live is stupid. Plain and simple.
-
Lets not forget the fact that just about every economist that has studied both the Conservative and the NDP economic stances have come to the conclusion that the NDP is better balanced and will result in a surplus and economic stablitiy. While the Conservatives' had mixed reviews that were hardly reassuring. They current economic stance seems to be somewhere inbetween Friedmanism and military Keynesianism (Both which are horrid, even Keynes despised military Keynesianism and Friedmanism has proven not to work in both Chile and Britian, and that's not even taking into account the philosophical reasons why Friedmanism is wrong).

I encourage burning flags. Just make sure you steal them from your local government office so you don't have to go through the trouble of buying them and then burying them. Using that method you might as well just burn your money.

Liberalism In summary: Moderate-Liberals= Central (Keynes) Neo-Liberals= Extreme Right-wing (Milton Freidman) Classical Liberalism= Extreme right-wing (Adam Smith)

I loath these Political Tests, and this one even more so. Apperantly one has to be rightwinged to be an Anarchist. PS: L-F Capitalist? Explain. Sounds like Classic Liberalism/Libertarianism to me.

I don't think anyone is asking for the collectization land reforms that Stalin implaced. But the land reforms Lenin implaced led to improvement in the Russian economy. Also, the "evil capitalist" nation of America is partly to blame (along with most of the world), as they put tarriffs on products, subsidize, and declare embargos just as much as the rest of the world, if not more. Their protectionist policies indirectly help impoverish entire nations. I really don't think that the 3rd world governments are to be blamed fully with economic failure. Do you think that Brazil's leaders kill for power and purposely screw over their citizens for personal gain?
-
I would rather you just read some Keyes or something but I shall summarize, and answer any questions. The poorest nations are generally going to be the ones with the lowest working conditions. It is these countries that need foreign investment the most, and it is these countries that will attact the sweatshop companies the most. If we start to place Tarriffs on countries that have low working conditions then foriegn investors will either leave those countries to whatever country will result in more profit(most likely a "middle ground" country that barely makes the working conditions), or they will lower wages and conditions in the current country even MORE to compensate for the tarriff on their products. That said, I'm for public takeover of factories if the company in question is "jumping ship" (refusing to improve working conditions, but insteads decides to leave the improving country for another 3rd world country with lower conditions). Public takeover could also result in more of the profits going back to the workers instead of to offshore resorts that belong to the mangement class and to 1st world "chapters" that are in-place purely for image saving.
