Having an opinion about a show is fine, I understand some people are disappointed with certain shows and I respect their choice to discuss it. It just feels like some people are going a bit too far sometimes and attacking MG's whole show because he didn't play what happened to be someone's favourite song or whatever. I dunno, maybe it's just how it's being phrased by some people, I just find some of the criticisms to be based solely on personal preference and there's not really anything Matt can do about that. That's really what annoys me the most, the feeling or attitude that makes it sound like MG should've catered to exactly what a given fan wanted... just a bit ridiculous. -

You know, discussing dream setlists and what you're dying to hear live is one thing, it's being a fan who is enthused about the music. Having said that, some of the people here have sounded like over-entitled asshats over the course of this tour. I am slightly embarrassed to be part of the fan community when I read some of the posts here. Like someone in this thread said, you've seen enough of the setlists by now to have a good idea of what Matt might play. If you're that disappointed, sell your tickets to someone who would appreciate the opportunity to see Matt live and stfu. Seriously, this is getting old and makes so many people sound like brats because they didn't get the exact brand of MG they wanted on a given night... he isn't a puppet, he's someone who created these songs and as such, he should be allowed to play them in any way he sees fit. No one is putting a gun to people's heads to go to these shows so I don't understand why so many are still going despite never being satisfied. BTW... I can understand why security asked those people to sit down in Calgary... it wasn't a general admission show was it? You people buy the tickets... and you see those seat numbers on them? That's where you *gasp!* sit at! How dare security enforce this, I know... and furthermore, I doubt Matt was even aware of this happening... and even if he was? Those people shouldn't have been there in the first place! And the whole thing about Matt apparently insulting people's intelligence by saying he'd need $70 a ticket for 2 1/2 hour shows: How can you compare a somewhat successful Canadian artist to an internationally-successful band? That's just assinine... PJ has the money to record every show and a different infrastructure... They also play bigger venues which gives them more profit and the ability to have cheaper ticket prices. Matt is obviously a successful musician in Canada but if you think that means he can put on shows like PJ for the same cost, I honestly don't know what to tell you. Seriously people, some of you need to step back and give your heads a shake. -

I wouldn't count Love Will Tear Us Apart... I thought that AND Walking On The Moon were just song snippets. Also, can someone type out the setlist from Calgary 2 I think it is? The one that was just a pic. I am blind and well... my narration software doesn't read image files. -

To be fair, you can't compare U2 and MG as far as hearing a concert before going in person: Matt is still shuffling his sets a lot more than U2 at the end of that tour... as a fan, I was really disappointed when the last half dozen shows had the exact same setlist on that leg of the tour. -

Just out of curiousity... were they attempting Suburbia as a full band or did Matt just try doing it solo-acoustic? -

Yeah I really enjoy Blue Skies on WLR&RR but never really got into it live, not sure why... I liked the first version of the song from the Ottawa Civic Centre bootleg, I believe, with the more pronounced guitar riff throughout the song. I do appreciate the lyrics and what they convey, there are just other songs I have a personal preference for. And as for Devil's In Your Details, I just really love the instrumentation on that one. BTW Matt, I wasn't meaning to complain about what you play. Obviously you're gonna play what you want to and I've never been to a show of yours I didn't enjoy. I was more thinking of my fantasy setlist as it were, which I'm sure all fans of yours have to a certain degree. My apologies if my posts came off like complaining, I know it's easy for fans to criticize setlists when they're not the ones who have to rehearse the material, travel across the country and play several shows a week. As the artist who created these songs and puts all the effort into the live show, I fully respect what you do for everyone so thanks. Looking forward to London in just over two weeks! ;) -

Yeah a lot of venues have sound curfews so the shows can only go on for so long. Nice to see some WLR&RR representation at this show and agree it's cool that the setlist is getting shuffled up... crossing fingers that he trots out The Devil's In Your Details at some point... love that tune. HTB has missed its third show in a row now? That has to be a record... like that they're trying to freshen-up LMU a bit... Liking that Faught To Fight It has stayed in the set... very interesting to follow along on this tour! ;) -

Was Matt playing Victoria last night or is that tonight? I am too lazy to check. -

Looks like there's starting to be more setlist variation than I'd thought there would be. Surprised to see A Single Explosion and (almost) Champions Of Nothing... sounds like there's some spontaneity to the shows too... I like feeling like anything can happen at a gig and like the setlist isn't just the same old crap as the previous show. Starting to look like HTB is on the outside looking in... this does not bother me. I just hope Volcanoes gets played in London, that's my favourite track on the album. -

If I get the 2nd show setlist when I catch Matt in London, I will be completely satisfied... that set seems to work a lot better with the addition of Faught To Fight It and Vancouver National Anthem. Hope this trend continues... starting off with Silent Army sounds really interesting. -

Just wanted to say too that I am disappointed about Black Helicopters being in there... it's a decent song but if we're running with a limited amount of songs because the ones from the new record are longer... BH does not go on the list as a song that I want to hear in one of those rare spots. Disappointing that WLR&RR has been omitted entirely as well. Think I'd rather have I'm A Window than BH if he really wants two Hospital Music tracks in there. I understand MG has to try and appeal to casual fans who come to his show too but how many people come to hear HTB, LMU and Apparitions anymore? The band broke up eight years ago and he's got just as many solo records now as he has albums with MGB... I just wonder if there are really that many people left who go to his shows expecting to hear MGB singles so much that it'll ruin the show if they aren't in there. Either way I imagine it has to be really difficult choosing songs and I'm sure rehearsal time was cut a bit short due to Matt's pneumonia... I'm also sure it's hard to plow through a bunch of songs when the backing band isn't a full-time group like MGB was. -

Yeah I am really getting sick of HTB, LMU and Apparitions... Giant is my fave MGB song though so I am happy/surprised he's still playing it -- considering it was never a single especially! Colour me surprised that On Nights Like Tonight didn't get played though... same with Vancouver National Anthem... really, I am kind of surprised about Faught To Fight it too. Although I knew he wouldn't play all the songs from the new album, I didn't think Empty's Theme Park would be in the set for some reason. -
Am I the only one who thought that clip before Volcanoes sounded like the guitar explosion from I Miss New Wave? Could've just been a figment of my imagination but that's what it reminded me off and Matt did say he'd listened to Beautiful Midnight before rehearsals started.

Full Band Setlist Megathread (merged)

Excellent. Apparitions sounded great with a full band in the video I caught of Fredricton's soundcheck. Hopefully they keep doing that one full band and I get it in London. -

DudeLove721 replied to Monochrome Rainbow's topic in Matthew Good
For a setlist megathread this thread sure doesn't have much in the way of setlists: What is up with you people on this tour? I am slightly disappointed. With tonight's show being in Toronto I expect no excuses for not having a setlist here. Seriously, people need to start posting setlists -- including mentions of whether or not they've played the full band version of Apparitions during a show and not just in soundcheck yet! And for anyone who went to the Massey Hall show... did Matt confirm whether or not he was recording it for a live album? Thanks! -
Just for the record, Dusk and All Together are not demos. Dusk was recorded for WLR&RR (and was even name dropped in early ads for the album) and All Together was a fully-fleshed out MGB song that was cut from Audio Of Being at the last second.
-
Yeah a Dala show would definitely be great. I love their album but they sounded a bit better live IMO.

So anyone think they're going to go after users? I don't think they can process them all; I read somewhere that there are 180,000 people who have accounts on the site. I know there are people who have upped terrabytes of music so I'd tend to think the authorities will focus on those people and not the ones who put up 1-2 gb of stuff and minly used the site to leech... it's still legal to download and not upload right? The technicalities of file sharing and the law often confuse me. Sharing in Canada is legel is it not? And Canadian ISPs don't usually give out personal info right? Also could a foreign agency prosecute someone in another country for sharing? Probably but I am just curious to know how it goes if anyone knows. Edit: Just wanted to add that this sucks for those who actually buy albums even though they download from sites like these. I was impressed with Dala when they opened up for MG but my girlfriend and I would've never ordered their album if we hadn't been able to listen to it first. If the music is good and the artists are respected fans will support them. -
Ironic... I just got an account there a couple of weeks ago. Thanks!
-
You are officially my hero if you can get it done that quick. Thanks a million for recording the show.

Just wanted to take a crack at the setlist order for the purists out there. The show was amazing and Matt sang really well despite the bronchitis. Girl Wedged Under The Front Of A Firebird Champions Of Nothing Avalanche Load Me Up Strange Days Born Losers Silent Army In The Trees Black Helicopters Alert Status Red I'm A Window 99% Of Us Is Failure (half-acapella for the first time) She's In It For The Money Apparitions True Love Will Find You In The End --- North American For Life Suburbia Pledge Of Allegiance Also, if someone recorded this or has a bootleg of the show please msg me because I'd really love to have it!

Intriguing... nice to hear he seems to be shuffling things up a lot, you guys got a pretty sweet show it sounds like.
