  1. I believe that the US Missle Defense tests failed. That's NOT involving counter measures to disrupt their tracking. So I don't think anyone really needs to worry about anyone shooting home run balls out of the air if they can't hit a scud they know is being fired.
  2. I can't find it... ah yes I can, I love the find feature, I keep forgetting about it. http://www.matthewgood.org/mblog/archive/2...01_archive.html Type "philanthropist" into the search, first result.
  3. I thought it was really good... a totally different kind of movie then SPR which it is compared to often. Of the handful of war movies I have seen, Thin Red Line is only ecplised by Apocalypse Now, and that is not really saying much as Apocalypse Now is a phenomenal movie. Thin Red Line is great, though. Good watching for sure. And Handy and Sparq, the cast really was awesome. I really liked Stiles/Styles/Smiles... however you spell his name. Another thing... awesome soundtrack, haunting ambience, really helped to flesh the movie out and give it a deep feeling. Recomended.
  4. What I've seen... Blow: Was great... had a little something for everyone, good movie to watch with friends. Traffic: Good... my dad thinks it's boring, so watch it with your yuppie friends who like intellectual movies. Drugstore Cowboy: I've only seen it once or twice but I liked it. Requiem: Heavy stuff... definitely not a date movie. Enough to scare you off of drugs/Jennifer Connelly forever. Never seen Fear and Loathing. Never seen it on.
  5. I wouldn't worry too much about Missle Defense. They wanted us to nuke Cuba too, and look at how that turned out. When the US shows up with a new stupid idea related to missles, our politicans are usually skeptical. I just wish they'd act the same when the US shows up with a new stupid idea related to trade...
  6. Lately, I've been getting into Heinlein. Read Friday and I Will Fear No Evil, got J.O.B. and Stranger In A Strange land sitting around and waiting. The influence of 1984 is obvious in both books I read, moreso in Fear No Evil. Both books seem to stem from some bizzare corner of Heinlein's mind likely connected to his subconcious desires to become a woman. Regardless, purring aside the fluff coming of woman tales in both books, the sci-fi stuff is good and some of the character interaction is decent. Before that was Micheal C.'s Prey. Bad. Borrow it from the library.
  7. Looks like the MBlog is back too.
  8. Wish they'd get their tracker up again. Gave me a sense of karmic balance, uploading MG stuff instead of downloading it.
  9. He said he's against it. He feels people should donate because people need help, not because the tragically hip are playing. I think it's a bad stance to have... any money is good money to people who are starving. The only reason to shun such a thing would be if the production were eating up an obscene amount of it... which is possible... But still... it's a good cause and it gets people out who don't normally donate to charity and maybe exposes them to a world they never wanted to see. If it helps, roll with it.
  10. Matt linked to a forum on the MBlog for discussing entries. Earlier today a big debate broke out on the US abandoning the search for WMDs, with Matt in one corner and... well, pretty much everyone else slagging him for labelling (something)merk whose complete name I forget. Matt made a comment to the regards of "I am ashamed of a part of my fanbase", and now both the forum and the MBlog seem to be down. As mentioned earlier in this thread, Matt is supposedly working on a new site.
  11. I didn't find it all that funny. The guy has been posting on the blog, for his fans, presumedly, and has made mention of his illness and fatigue, and people continued goading him until he broke. It's mostly his own fault, but still. Guy can only bend so far.
