Nope, that's the minority using the balance of power. In today's parliament, the majority doesn't rule, the largest minority does. The NDP has enough seats to swing a little bit of power around. They represent enough people to hold that power, and the people they are representing deserve their fair say. Now, the NDP didn't entirely revamp the budget to fit their platform, they made some changes to it so they would be doing their job for the people that voted for them. They weren't pushing the liberals around by any means. They were using the political power that had been granted to them by a portion of the Canadian population.

Well, you'd have to compare population sizes to get a more accurate reading. Just to be a complete ass about it. And do those casualty figures from WWII include the war in the pacfic? Because I've never really considered the war in the pacific to really be a part of WWII, possibly because I never learned too much about it in school (other than the tiny contingent of Canadian soldiers involved... jingoism is ruining education).

The CBC is completely indispensable, IMO. Particularly newsworld. A lot of great stuff there.

Matt's right. Remember that Vimy was the first major allied victory of WWI. Even though why we're even discussing WWI is ridiculous. The fact that we aren't taught in schools that that war was nothing more than a bunch of imperialistic egoes having at it is really telling of that jingoistic fervor we Canadians are taught.

I wasn't aware the US had control over Chinas military. I'm just being a jerk, sorry. In a war between China and the U.S., I'll take China. Large doesn't simply imply numbers, but also technology and money. How much more does the U.S. spend on defence than China? I don't think I can count that high.
