Linkin Park

linkin park is a pre-packaged deal. they were put together by a record company and originally slated to be a boy band. but that fad was on its way out and angry music was making a come back so they were told to change their image and sound. having learned that, it's hard to respect them. plus the fact that i really just can't stand their music. and while i know you didn't start the thread so that people would diss a band you like, if you're gonna praise something you have to be open to people who don't like it as well. and i fall into the latter category. but if you dig it, good on ya. -

I gotta say at the 3 Matt shows I've been to I've never really noticed anyone being very drunk or all too asshole-ish either. Regardless, I will shit twice and die if he does an acoustic tour! Imagine hearing Avalanche, Apparitions, Suburbia, Fine Art of Falling Apart, Empty Road, etc, all stripped down! Last show he played in Vancouver at the Vogue he did an acoustic Apparitions and I have no shame in admitting it moved me to tears... so the only drawback to an acoustic tour would be my need to bring a box of tissues, haha.

mumsy's pretty weak. it makes me think of some 40 year old british woman getting all upset because she's going to be late to see her mom... and she's all panic-y and shrieking, "I CAN'T BE LATE FOR MUMSY!" i'd suggest "panic vs chill," just because no one else has. -

I first heard Hello Time Bomb, what, 5 years ago now? I was watching MuchMusic (let's keep in mind that I was 13 at the time). It said that MGB would be playing a show at Pacific Colesseum, so I told my mom she had to let me go. I thought Matt was so hot and I loved that one song so much that I didn't think it would be possible for me NOT to have a good time. So I went to that concert based on one song and was totally blown away by the whole show. (Gob and Moist were surprisingly good as well) Then I got Beautiful Midnight, then Underdogs, and then it became a tradition for me to go out the first day Matt's CDs were released so I could get my copy.;)

i think that putting your song into a movie is really different... because you're adding to another art form, not to the appeal of some product. i suppose you could argue that it's just another way to make money, but then recording/putting out a cd looks to make money as well. so to me, the soundtrack thing doesn't count.

beautiful midnight effects me in a way that no other album i've ever heard has done. it's my ultimate, all-time favorite recording, matt good or otherwise.

I'd say whoever consented to letting Pepsi use Purple Haze to sell their product sold out Hendrix. To sell out for yourself, though, would be to allow a company to use your classic song "Rock and Roll" in a car commercial... Regardless of whether your drummer died and your band broke up, you should NEVER allow your song to sell a car. That was selling out [and it hurt my soul, Page & Plant *shakes her fist*]
