  1. I'd love to hear how you found the shows compared. My son was worried about the same thing but said the Bluesfest show was way better. (Granted, he had crummy seats in Montreal, but people were actually asking him to sit down
  2. If you go to www.ottawacitizen.com and find the Bluesfest gallery, there are a few photos. Some of the crowd too.
  3. I am impressed with your memory. Not sure, but I thought Black Helicopters came after Blues Skies (while he was still on the nation at war theme).
  4. Thanks for the quick response. It was the "Your treasure be ours" that made me worry that it was something on MY computer.
  5. I just went to check matthewgood.org and got a lovely graphic of a ship and a message saying arrr, there be a storm brewin and in the tab it said "Your treasure be ours!"
  6. "I stand and choose what's left of my life" (In these standard shoes and what's left of my lines) HOSAM
  7. Avalanche While We Were Hunting Rabbits (natch)
  8. One thing about this album is that it truly feels like a rock and roll review to me because so many other artists come to mind as I listen to it. I'm reminded of a specific song or a song just "sounds" like it could have been done by another artist. Some songs make me feel as if I should know who they remind me of and I'm hoping other's responses will answer those nagging questions at the back of my mind. The ones that sprang to my mind on day 1: Empty Road -- Neil Young (but Matt's voice is way better) Little Terror -- Stevie Wonder (Superstition, specifically) Buffalo Seven -- Martha and the Muffins Blue Skies over Bad Lands -- Matthew Good as himself Ex-Pats -- Won't Get Fooled Again (no surprise, this one) Now that it's been kicking around for a while, I'm curious what artists others are reminded of.
  9. Thanks for the lyrics. There's one part that I was wondering about. I had understood it to be "her thumb's on the one, and she's dialed 91" (as in 9-1-1).
  10. Avalanche, hands down. It took Weapon to get me to finally buy a Matthew Good CD, and then inspired to buy the rest of his work. Avalanche is still my number one.
  11. It's interesting to see a song-by-song review. Personally, I don't like Ex-Pats. I first heard it live and was blown away because it sounded fantastic and so much like Won't Get Fooled Again. But on the CD it loses a great deal. (Just like Won't Get Fooled Again -- I loved it live but always skip it when I'm listening to Who's Next.) I actually prefer Hopeless, and force myself to listen to Ex-Pats so that I can hear it. For the entire CD, my faves are Blue Skies Over Badlands, Empty Road and Buffalo Seven (probably in that order, though it depends on my mood), but I don't skip over any songs except Ex-Pats.
