that big guy was a chump, that poor kid must have weighed 100lbs less oh well, I thought the accoustic was a nice touch.. I wouldnt want to listen to it too much, but hearing different renditions of our favorite songs is always a refreshing change. His normal versions will always be there, so enjoy these while you can

haha this poor little kid got his ass kicked right after the brock show too... i drove down from London and i think it was worth it. The drunk guys werent too bad, you always get a ton of that shit at MG shows (i've been to 6 and every one had retards fighting and yelling). It was funny too, i consider myself a pretty big MG fan.. own all his CDs, know his shit, etc... and my buddy is the same, but some guy goes to him and a few other ppl : "it's fags like you that make matt good shows suck. Can you even name 3 of his albums?" i thought that was pretty funny... sucks but MG fans tend to be major douches

damn, just got back from the store to find out they were sold out... sucks cause I went away the day they went on sale and didnt get back to Canada until yesterday.. terrible timing
-
he could definitly do with adding a couple dates around the big cities like montreal and toronto.. I never understand it though, no one I meet ever knows or likes Matt Good, yet somehow his shows are always sold out... I realize it's mostly "hey i like that song aberitions" people who noticed the concert date, but its still weird

Raging About The Junos
fantasticsteve replied to glo's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
i think people are too quick to rag on nickleback because they're popular. That said, I don't own any of their albums or have any of their songs on my computer, but I don't mind "How you remind me" and "Photograph". -
Where is everyone hearing this All Together song? I can't find it in the NF Store, and it's not even listed on mgtabarchive.com which I thought until now listed everything my favorites however would be (not sure if these are considered B-sides but) Parable and Second Sun EDIT: nevermind I found the post earlier about his myspace page.. but still, any way I can get this song on my computer? EDIT again: I really should look before i ask... just saw the "download" button ;) It;s a pretty wicked song!

Yeah...I never really liked them to begin with and then I just kind of lost what little respect I had for them when the lead singer tried to convince me and my friend to enter an ammature strip competition after the Matt Good concert. hah fair enough... he might of been drunk and joking around... or he might be a total douche, i'm not sure
-
No that helps for sure. I've been playing guitar for a little while but I'm now getting into songwriting, and while I can usually figure stuff out for guitar, when I fill up a song with something in the background it's hard to get right. I'm studying for midterms right now but after this weekend I'll have some free time and be able to hopefully challenge you a bit! thanks for the help thus far though

The Ladies And Gentlemen
fantasticsteve replied to a topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
Yea man, the L&G and this chill vibe to them.. i like the synth/bass/drum combo. I'm looking forward to seeing these guys polish up a bit, they have good potential -
MGB instrumentals sound beautiful alone, even despite their general lack of techinical difficulty, but it's truely his lyrics that set him apart. On that note, which song of any artist has your favorite lyrics? For me its hands down Sympathy for the Devil by the Stones... I heard the song a few times but didnt really listen carefully.. just kinda thought "cool, nice sounding song". When I actually sat down and listened to the words I was totally amazed! They tell a hell of a story and are extremely craftly written. I'm pretty sure I heard Mick wrote them in about 15 minutes too

you guys should really give Matt Mays a listen... if you dont wanna buy the album, download these songs: On the Hood, Cocaine Cowgirl, What are we gonna do come september... all his stuff is great though another one that pops into mind are the Ladies and Gentlemen... they opened for MG in London and they're pretty cool!

Rate The Band Above
fantasticsteve replied to HoboFactory's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
wow you guys are pretty tough raters! as for VU.. I was never personally a big fan of them as a bad, their various solo endeavours were better imo.. but regardless, very talented musicianship and a fairly significant impact on modern RnR... so id give em an 8/10... id likely give them more if i were a bigger fan Something Corporate -
perfect, I think I understand now. So in a G major... G A B C D E F (G) 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 so a G is all G,B,and D fantastic! ok here's another question (not totally sure if its applicable but i think it is) Lets say theres a song that has a main verse consisting of Dm and G chords, going back and forth at an even tempo. What would be the complimentary chord(s) that could be played in the background on lets say a piano/organ for example. Would it have to be Dm and G as well? if this is too vague let me know and ill try to narrow down what i mean more

Hey man, I might as well give this a go. I'm self-taught for guitar but have started taking lessons as I've reached a point where most things I can play at first look/listen, and the stuff i can't play is beyond. I'm starting out by brushing up on my theory, learning what makes up chords and stuff. Well my question is: can you explain to me in layman's terms (as much as possible, i have some background in music so im not hopeless)how a chord is comprised of a 1st 3rd 5th? Like what exactly does that mean?

Jeff Buckley

A truley fantastic artist and album, shame that he is dead. Last Goodbye and Lover you should have come over are my favorites, and his rendition of Hallelujah is spectacular, im sure leonard cohen is proud -
not to keep beating a dead horse here... but that's not even a metaphor ;)

k Giant was amazing... the whole crowd was doing the k-i-c-k-a-s-s chant, when the recorded version of BM kicked in... hot damn it was amazing k on a side note, did anyone catch the name of the opening act? i really liked them but failed to figure out what their name is ;)

requiem and trainspotting are two outstanding flicks
-
I never heard any of these other ones, but I would have bet money he said "its too late to die" hah well, learn something new every day
-
10/10.. cake! by the end they ran out of songs so there was only one option that hadn't already been picked anyways :S
-
Definitly a huge tossup... Audio of Being is hands down my favorite album, but you can't deny the enormous impact of Avalanche. I guess if someone had a gun to my head, I'd say Band...
-
WLRRR certainly had some small elements of country in it, like Empty Roads and Hopeless... I'll be honest though, I kind of liked them
