Some once believed that the world was round.... Crazy bastards.
-
I know it looks like I have my head up my ass, but I believe that there is some natural influence involved which may not be discovered for a long time.
-
Of course we are talking about a principle of nature that may or maynot exist, and which requires belief instead of logic. That said, it's easy to say it's crap, just as easy to say there is no God because there is no proof of one. I'm not going to argue a belief of mine as if it were a fact or even worthy of a debate, I'm not that ignorant. However, I can't deny that I do believe in it, and no.... not that it dictates every thing that we are (as stated above). I simply think that a personality can be imprinted upon entry into a material universe that is still vastly unknown in its workings. I've had many experiences with different signs that bring about obvious patterns to those that wish to contemplate them. It's not about labeling people, or placing them into 12 categories, although that's exactly what it looks like. There are many types of one zodiac sign, and thats why I believe the Chinese have added an elemental layer to their system. not to sound narrow minded, but if you meet someone who is wearing a Bob Marley t-shirt, has dark skin, dreadlocks and is eating jerk chicken, you might assume they are Jamacan, but you can't know what part of the Island until you get to know them better. If I look, act, and feel like the Zodiac sign that I am, and see the same thing in others.... than it's red to me no matter how many tell me it's blue. My point is, I feel that Matthew Good is a Cancer, from everything I understand about Cancer personalities from my own journey. Don't have to agree, it's just what I believe..... it's one more reason why I enjoy his music the way I do.

"How It Goes" is right up there for me
-
I sometimes feel that I connect with Matthew's music on different levels, because we share the same zodiac sign. Life as a Cancer is an incredibly emotional ride, filled with deep angst and unorthodox perceptions. I was born July 7th, 1972, anyone else believe in that shit?

Great Bass slappin... reminds me of that Gary Oldman scene in Sid and Nancy.
-
Any word on the title?
-
Agreed, piano notes are a corner stone to a great rock album IMO ( Guns & Roses UYI 1 & 2).
-
It ruined it for me too.

Being drunk would have probably made for a good excuse, but I was sober. I guess I got caught up in the moment and made a bad judgement call. To all those out there that yell aimlessly during an amazing Matthew Good performance... think twice, because you don't want to be the cause of a huge distraction when hundreds are listening to a musical genius.
-
I understand that Matt may already be happy with his career, that wasn't my question. To clarify, How will Matthew Good's volume of material be compared to the success of the above mentioned artist's when he is finished? Will he reach that "iconic" status, or will his lack of international appeal relegate him to "national treasure" or "best kept secret"? (sorry for all the "labels").

7.5 out of 10 Solid performance of a very complex character. "Black Swan"
-
Can he reach the level of creative success enjoyed by such icons as Niel Young, Joni Mitchell, Lenord Coen, Bob Dillon, and Eric Clapton, or is he destined to have a relativly small cult following forever?
-
Did you choose Gary Oldman because he was the best actor (Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy), or was it because he is your favorite actor, and you were rooting for him? I fall into the latter as that Jean guy was better in The Artist (great film). but not better overall, just like Mickey Rourke was better than Sean Penn earlier (The Wrestler vs. Milk) , but not better overall.

Thats me @ the 1:36 mark, I was so lould, I got shushed big time....... I won't be doing that again.

I'm not safer than a bank..... Not a fan.

Thanks for that story, posting this topic has been healing and I want to thank everyone who has replyed. I guess my concern was that Matt has mentioned that he dislikes that random yelling stuff, and that I ruined an otherwise amazing performance video of "set me on fire" on you tube. But yes, others have done worst like throwing coins at him to shining a red lazer dot on him while he performed.... so I feel better for not being one of those assholes.
-
He may be getting a little pressure (not that he gives a shit) from his label to make an album more commercial, compared to the under appreciated LOES by the casual fan. A sign of this is his declaration to make a couple of videos this time around, which is hard to imagine getting funding from his label if they gave the same (comercialy unsuccessful) creative freedom that he had during his last project. Just speculating.... it's not like I understand how it all works in the industry.

"Black Swan" was genus. -
I'm up for anything Matt records, but I'm hoping the new material echos the sounds of his solo career and not the angst filled screams from the MG band like "the future is x-rated" or "Carmelina"..... it doesn't suit him at this point in his legacy IMO. I'm wishing for a transition into a "rock" style that will allow a new genius side of Matt to emerge, and although I love the Pink Floyd influences of his recent stuff, I hope he doesn't return to "the Who" guitar characteristics on WLRRR. That album seemed flat compared to the rich texture of Avalanche, and Hospital Music..... again, just my opinion, and I'm truly happy that he continues to record.

I'm sure Matt would probably prefer that we stay home instead of shouting throughout his set.
-
I knew when I did it, that I shouldn't have, but it wasn't until I heard my shout on a you tube video of the performance, that I realized an apology was necessary.
-
At a show last year in Oshawa, I gave a loud senseless whooopping yell during "Set Me On Fire". It was immature, and I'm sorry to everyone in the building, including Matt.
