  1. Agreed... was hoping for a Champions of nothing type effort for one track, but it doesn't take away from the overall project which is full of great listenable songs with tons of layers and textures. Agreed... best complete album since Avalanche. Regarding radio reaction... I can see Garden of knives taking off down the same path "Weapon" took, and if we are living in a sane world, than "Mutineering" should see lots of air time as well. If I rate the tunes to my tastes, I've got... 1. (tie) Mutineering / Garden of Knives 3. Hey Hell Heaven 4. Arrows of desire 5. Guns of Carolina 6. (tie) Had it Coming / Via Delorosa 8. Letters in Wartime 9. Were Long Gone 10. So Close Shows the quality of this album release if you consider that my last 2 are very listenable. Love it's commercial rebound potential after LOES (even though I loved a lot of that album myself). The funny thing about Mutineering is... I'm waiting for Matt to bust out "the baby Jesus loves the company" and "where has my head gone"...lol, of course I like Mutineering better than that one.
  2. For me, the best way to test new music (especially MG) is to have it in the back ground while doing something else. If I focus on it to much. I tend to over or under evaluate the music to my tastes.
  3. it's a great album and a fantastic chapter to the MG universe. It's the first album where I didn't feel like skipping a song to get to the next one. A more than worthy collection for a great rock show.... congrats Matthew and company. PS: It feels like a fuck you guilt trip to the casual fans and DJs who ripped into LOES... lol.
  4. So far my favorites are Mutineering and Hey Hell Heaven... but it's still early. This music is gonna make for a kick ass show when I go to the hall Nov 1st.
  5. I really like this tune and I hope there's more like it on the album... it has the vocal diversity and range that I wish Garden of knives had (which would have really complimented it's kick ass cords and riffs).
  6. Just managed to get my seats at Masey Hall (probably the last 2 seats together without an obstructed view). So glad I checked in on the site or else I would have been pissed missing a sold out MG show at the best venue in Canada.
  7. I myself have known for a long time now that I don't like Matthew Good tunes the first time I hear them, hell... I hated "Champions of nothing" first listen, but now its one of my top three MG songs. Its hard to explain this phenomenon, but its real and it doesn't make us any less of a fan than those that love MG tunes right away. Last night at Midnight, I wasn't feeling the latest single "had it coming", but after about 3 trys... I was really digging it. I really like the lyrics, but still not crazy about the rap style in which they are sang. What I really love about "had it coming" was the variation in the corus (I've, you've, and we've), and of course that kick ass guitar work towards the end. I was always convinced that after LOES, we were due for a more radio friendly album. In the past I wanted great MG radio music so that my teasing friends would understand my obsession.... but sometime after Avalanche and throughout his solo career... I didn't give a fuck what people thought about MG music anymore. I just knew that I loved it. This new single might be the Rico,Time Bomb, or Alert Status Red for casual fans, but one thing for sure about Matt Good's albums is... there will always be room for a couple of Near Fantastica, Champions of Nothing, and Shallows Low for us full time fans to latch on too.
  8. WOW! My post got removed.... apparently your not allowed to defend yourself in these forums.
  9. I do suck!... but at least I'm guaranteed never to do it again.
  10. Good on ya... let this be a thread for others to come forward and apologize to Matt for bone head random yelling.
  11. When hunting rabbits came out, I listened to it all the time.... now I never do. Strange how that happens.
  12. I am not safer than a bank, with Radio Bomb a close second.
  13. Avalanche, with Champions of Nothing a close second.
  14. I was also hooked by "Everything is automatic". I kept hearing it on the radio and I never knew who sang it until one night at a party I heard it playing in the next room. It was actually the TV playing the video and I thought "cool, I'm finally gonna find out who sings this, so I can buy the album the next day". When the end credit read "The Matthew Good Band" I laughed and said "Really?, what an uninspiring name". Looking back now, his music that I have followed over the past 18 years, is the most inspiring I have ever listened to. I remember where I was and what I was doing when Lennon got shot, and I remember where I was and what I was doing when I first heard (saw) the name Matthew Good.
  15. How about someone creating a Discography of every song, B-side, or demo that was given a title... that might be a good start.
  16. Thanks, I'll explore this site more to find the downloads and get NF $, thanks for the offer.
  17. Can any one tell me where I might find downloads of Matt's earliest music?
  18. Don't get me wrong, I prefer listening to his solo work mostly.
  19. I think some of his songs suck, Matt and I just disagree on which ones (I like Rico, and Indistructable.... not a fan of Giant and Non Populus).
  20. Two great songs that were well worth my dollars.
  21. In this day, hard to imagine something not being available, especially if you have a computer.
  22. I'm sure Avalanche will be there, he has stated on Strombo that it's his favorite MG song after 2000.
  23. No matter how many times I listen to it, I always fuck up the lyrics when singing Silent Army in the Trees, what's your Matt Good Lyrical nemisis?
  24. That stuff you listed is not applicable to my point, the world has been proven to be round... It's a fact in spite of all the sceptics that once declared it flat. Talking snakes, burning bushes, the arc, and all that crap is still mythological, and widly unproven.
