I'm neither for nor against PETA...I'm not familiar enough with the organization to make a fair judgment. And I'm all for Jennifer standing up for what she believes in and trying to make a difference. The point of my post was simply that she needs to be careful that she's being consistent...buying clothes from a store she's protesting sends a rather contradictory message.

The whole thing about Jenny and today's fur protest at Sears and Guess in Vancouver is just really funny to me, because I happened to see her here in Toronto on Matt's last tour, and I know for a fact she was wearing a top from Guess (I know because I have the same one...) and carrying her little Louis Vuitton leather bag... It surprises me that she, and most of all Matt, expects people to take her seriously?! Matt's always preaching that if you 'talk the talk' you better 'walk the walk'. Hmmm, maybe he better take a look in his wife's closet...

Damn! Looks like Apparitions is taking a strong lead... My vote however is for WEAPON!!! Apparitions is a great song, but way overplayed and too accessible, therefore i vote against it.. It's like the token MG/MGB song..if you were to stop anyone in the street and ask them a MG song, you'll probably hear Apparitions 9 times out of 10... I kinda hoped that the people of this board would pick a top song that would set us apart from the masses...although given these last two choices, that's kindof impossible now... Oh well....go Weapon!

"It's sunny outside. And George Bush isn't my president. What more could one ask for?" ...from an old blog...
-
Prime Time Deliverance. Strange Days was a single...I always side with the underdogs.
-
This is the MG album I'm least familiar with... So from the few listens I've had, I'll have to go with Omissions of the Omen...it really stood out to me.
-
Ian does make the most sense... I know for sure it wasn't Rich... and for some reason I just don't recall Dave Genn doing any singing at all... I was at the Warehouse concert (of which the download here is from) but for the life of me I can't recall who accompanied Matt on that song..
-
From the live Running For Home performances from back in the BM era... Does anyone know who played the keyboards and sang the harmony?
-
Haha...looks like i'm the one lone vote for Matt so far! I just find it rocks more when he does it himself...lately when he slows down in the middle of the song, it seems to lose momentum. The crowd always sings along with him anyway... And as I said in a previous thread, I miss him yelling SOLIIIID GOLLLLLLD ...that was always such a high moment.

Gotta go with MGB on this one. Still love Matt's solo stuff, but at the end of the day I tend to fall back on the older CD's, especially Beautiful Midnight and Audio of Being. They're just classic...I don't think I'll ever get sick of listening to those two...

GIANT!!!!!!!!!! without a doubt.

I'm a girl...but thanks anyway...!! lol
-
Here's what I remember of the set list: Blue Skies Over Bad Lands Weapon Giant (yay!) then in no particular order (b/c i don't remember...) Put Out Your Lights Fell In Love With A Bad Idea Alert Status Red Little Terror (*was supposed to be Buffalo Seven, but Pat started playing LT so Matt decided to just go with it because it's shorter...lol) Hello Time Bomb The Rat Who Would Be King North American For Life The Future is X-Rated Encore: Apparitions Load Me Up/Carmelina Silverfuck...feel free to add to this if I'm forgetting anything...?
-
It's not that it was small that was the problem...it was similar in size to all venues on this tour. It's just the acoustics of that particular room, and the lighting and the stage setup that was horrible.
-
I can't believe the amount of times I've seen Sort of a Protest Song on this list...! That's awesome, as it's also one of my faves. It just kinda snuck up on me in the last year or so...never really noticed it before. That's what I love about Matt's music, you can listen to a cd of his years later and discover something hidden there.

Yeah, it was the campus pub...Isaac's I think it was called..?

Well, i was at the St. Catharines show on Tuesday night....and I'm NOT a student....BAH hahahahahahha... ahh connections.. Anyway, don't worry, for those of you who couldn't make it..you really didn't miss anything. WORST VENUE EVER!!!!!! I even heard Matt say after that he wasn't very impressed...he even cut the encore short because he was so fed up with trying to make the music sound right in that crappy set-up. We walked around the entire time trying to find a good spot to watch from, but there were none! There were a couple funny parts, like Pat starting to play the wrong song...Matt said 'that's what happens when the drummer shows up 10 minutes before the concert...!'. Anyone else go?

"last Show For A While. Maybe Even A Few Years"
miss new wave replied to C-Bacon's topic in Matthew Good
This is very sad news... But give the guy a break!! As someone else pointed out, he's made two full albums in 15 months, and has toured the country three times between June and now!! We've been completely spoiled!! Not to mention he's practically a newlywed and would probably like to spend some quality time with his wife. *grrrr* that's me being jealous... -
Pat IS incredible...such a talented drummer. I believe he's been with Matt since the Avalanche recording days, i.e. early 2002. As for what they do when Matt is on sabatical...I know that Christian is in another band, and Pat plays for different bands kindof on a casual basis, whenever they need him and he's available. Rich...I'm not too sure..
-
I've seen Matt play at the Kee 4 times now... ;) Wow, that sounds kinda psycho...lol No, I used to live in Muskoka, so it was really close. It's by far one of my favorite venues....sooo many memories... *sigh* He's already played there twice this summer, so I highly doubt he'll be returning anytime soon.
-
I agree with the last three.. The singles are usually the songs I dislike the most. But Hello Time Bomb!?!?! C'mon, that's just classic...that song still gets me pumped every time I hear it! Although I'm not crazy about the live version he's been doing lately, with the mellow part in the middle? I miss him yelling 'Solidddddddd GOLLLLLLLLLLD' !!
-
On the new album, I dislike Little Terror...it just bothers me...*skip*. And I'm really not a fan of Hopeless, and anything else with the country twang...i'm sorry, but it's just not him. I'll be really upset if the next album is largely comprised of these types of songs.

Just Came Back From The Montreal Show...
miss new wave replied to montrealmike's topic in Matthew Good
Too funny... Rich IS putting on quite the fur-coat lately. I heard Christian say that in the mornings, Rich looks like a bear that's just come out of hibernation... Nice... still sexy tho...!! =)
