  1. I second that! I have Avalanche on vinyl. It's wonderful. I collect vinyl Lp's, so I try to get my hands on as much of it as possible.
  2. Me too:) I just bought a Dead Can Dance live CD off of their website that I'm looking forward to, and I also just picked up the Star Wars Revenge of the Sith Score, and the new Jann Arden record. I feel kind of old...in a "Lite 96" sort of way. *sigh*
  3. I'm enjoying it as well...I really dig the cover art for some reason. Mike Bell (I think that's his name) wrote on brutal review for them in the Sun. I never really liked that guy. He and I have vastly different opinions on what is good music and why. Ah well, it's a good record! Pick it up! ;)
  4. Bro and I are gathering the troops...it's only 2.5 hrs away, depending on the traffic, and who's behind the wheel:)
  5. You can add ball bearings, keys, and cell phones thanks to ACF. Don't forget *people!*
  6. You are right, it did involve water and electricity. It was a pretty terrible day for a show in Camrose, but they kept on going. Water gathered on the roof and floor of the stage and I believe a shock jumped from the mic to Matt. It was nothing serious, but still electrocuted and could have been a lot worse. Water on the stage is bad news. I seem to recall there being something about Matt telling the drunken crowd to bring him the Beer Blimp that was tethered nearby the stage...I can't remember if the wire attatched to the blimp had anything to do with the accident or not. Either way, he got hurt. He seems to have some pretty shitty luck with that.
  7. Does it sound awful with plenty of distortion? Because mine does, and being the technologically ignorant being that I am, have no idea how to make it sound clearer. I also refuse to change it as a matter of principle.
  8. When I first heard Matt, I thought he and Sarah had very similar voices. They both have a harsh cry that resonates. So yeah, Matthew Good and Sarah McLachlan would have been my choice. If Matt had been on the scene looking to do a duet in 92-93, it might have happened. Now, it's debatable. Mind, he did enjoy her World on fire video, and if they were to collaborate on a charity project, I could see it happening. Vancouverites working together to save the planet.
  9. Don't quote me: Broken: 1991 Euphony: 1994 15 Hours: 94/95

Some of the more difficult to find stuff wasn’t so difficult to find as little as five years ago. I got my demo cassette in a dutch auction on eBay. Most of my posters were gifts from record store employee friends, or pulled off walls at concerts. The point of this little blurb is that you really don’t have to spend a lot of money to find cool stuff, it’s just a matter of being in the right place at the right time, and having a few connections. A good American friend of mine applied to be a street preacher through Atlantic Records. She saved a couple of the posters and stickers, and then sent me a package at Christmas that year, and much to my surprise, included the book as well. Some of the things I’m still looking for: Everything is Automatic, Carmelina, Anti-Pop, and Weapon singles. The Canadian BMS is elusive, and so are the other demo cassettes. But it’s not as big a deal to me as it was when I was still in high school. Collections can be fun…mine verged into an unhealthy obsession at 16. Oh well, my office is now nicely covered in Matt’s mug. Anyhow, that’s it. I know for a fact there are some people out there that can easily outdo me. Maybe they’ll treat you with their lists:)
  11. I've met him...4 times? I can't remember at the moment. Enough that it's not the biggest exciting thing anymore for me. It's just one of those "hey, Matt's in town, I wonder what he'll say this time?" deals. I hung out with his band backstage at his birthday bash last year in Banff, but Matt wasn't in a partying mood after the accident. Poor guy. He's a really decent guy, if you approach him at the right times. After a show is best, because he's still in the working "zone," but he's been decent the other times I've just seen him on the street. As long as you don't get in his face, he's cool. He's even gone out of his way to make sure that everyone waiting around to greet him (like the massive MOB at Stampede 2003) got the opportunity to do so, and he's always open about questions, extra pictures, etc. I've never thought Matt to be an asshole. Sometimes he shoots his mouth off, but so does everyone. He's just a pretty average guy with some above average talent and he's been given an opportunity to use that talent. Treat him like a normal person, and he'll be more than willing to treat you decently as well. For all those that want to meet Matt, just find the tour bus after the show. Wait a few minutes, and he usually comes out for a chat. In 2004 the bus was teal green. Super easy to spot. Just hang back, be patient, and listen to the security guys. It's not a difficult thing to do these days.
  12. Every Calgary show in the last 7 years, (too many to count) plus one in Banff. And Edmonton is way too far to go when you aren't capable of driving. Wait...Edmonton is too far to go in any case. Who the hell wants to go to Edmonton?
  13. It was the radio-friendly edit. Nice edit, but doesn't hold a candle to the original or the acoustic. Clocks in at just over 4 min if I recall...
  14. Petroleum Transferance Engineering. Best. Job. Ever. And just because it wasn't his first job doesn't mean he never did it. In fact, I'm positive that he did at one time work at a gas station, whether as a gas jockey or cash attandant, or both.
  15. It was also used in Queer as Folk (the American version) and appears on that soundtrack as well.
  16. My brother made one in his high school screen printing lab. I used to make them as well. Check out the local high schools in your area and see if any have screen printing equipment. I used to make t-shirts for $5, which is a hell of a lot better than paying for a professional job, and if you get a senior student to take the task, you'll get just as nice a final product. I miss that lab...clothes were cheaper back then. lol
  17. the cover art for WLRRR is on the other side, as well as a picture of Matt in blue/green light with his eyes down. It's nice. I think the same image was used as an advertisment on the back of a Chart magazine around the time the album was released.
  18. I bought the mens zip hoodie...it's one of the softest hoodies I've ever owned. Though the Avalanche hoodie I have is a much higher quality. That hoodie is alsmost two years old and gets worn more than any other item of clothing I own. I noticed that they were selling them again on this past tour this fall, but they must have chnaged manufacturer's because they aren't as thick as they were in 2003. I bought two of those posters when he toured this summer. It's double sided, so I (being the completist that I am) had to have two. I have a wall full of MG(Band) posters....just added the Put Out Your Lights Tour poster to the mix. Awesome.
  19. My vinyl collection is bigger than my CD collection... I *heart* vinyl. You come to love the inconsistencies of analog vinyl recordings...scratches and all. If an artist releases their work on vinyl, I make that my priority over any other release.
  20. http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...6340940557&rd=1 No offense, but I thought this type of confusion was done with. But it prevails even today...I have a concert ticket credit card reciept from Wild Bills with "Dave Matthews" written on it for my reservation. pffft. Sorry. I thought some of you might get a kick out of it. Any thoughts on if it was done intentionally?
  21. There's a boot of it from a Vogue show in Vancouver from the Avalanche tour. Some guy (presumably the one taping the show) talks the whole way through it. Apparently, he likes the fast version better.
  22. OK, well, I own 4 copies. All three colours in Limited Edition with booklet, still sealed, and one extra white one, because that's what I happened to grab. "Kept in the Dark" that this was a shamless promotional item? Fuck no. I had 100% disposable income, and I certainly had no trouble disposing of it...
  23. Advertising on Police Cars. I'd film it cinema style...at night, and in the rain for the opening scene. Probably a crime scene, with tonnes of yellow tape and flashing lights... You'd dig it, trust me.
  24. Hey, I heard you! Good show, man. My party laughed and appluaded you.
