  1. Sorry, I didn't get any recordings, and security was tight concerning the camera issue going in.
  2. Been a long time since I posted here, but I figured I'd come and give the details. Set list (to the best of my memory, all songs were played but the order may be a little off): Girl Wedged Under The Front Of A Firebird I Am Not Safer Than A Bank Champions Of Nothing Metal Airplanes Avalanche Born Losers 99% Of Us Is Failure I'm A Window Silent Army In The Trees Black Helicopter She's In It For The Money Sort Of A Protest Song Load Me Up Strange Days Apparitions Encore: Bright End Of Nowhere Suburbia Pledge Of Allegiance Pretty decent show, started out rough with the idiots in the crowd. Especially two girls nearby me who kept on screaming and making comments in Matt's direction, obviously wanting to be showered with his attention. Also some idiot at the back wouldn't shut up, singing at the top of his lungs during Avalanche, was told to stop by security, didn't, then was tossed out by security during Born Losers. The two annoying girls weren't too far behind, getting tossed during I'm A Window after repeatedly sitting in the stairwell in the front after being told several times by security not to, then making some rather snide comments along the lines of "this city and everyone in it sucks" and interupting some of Matt's banter with the crowd. I wasn't a local either, but I'm smart enough to keep my mouth shut. From Silent Army on, you could have heard a pin drop in that place. Hopefully Matt remembers the second half of the show moreso than the first half and decides to return.
  3. Yes, it was that one
  4. Just got back from the Saskatoon show. The setlist was: Alert Status Red Empty Road Fated In A World Called Catastrophe Hopeless Sort Of A Protest Song Can't Get Shot In The Back If You Don't Run Avalanche So Long Mrs. Smith Load Me Up Generation X-Wing Tripoli Apparitions Encore: Hurt (yes, THAT Hurt) - duet with Melissa McLelland The Fine Art Of Falling Apart Strange Days Buffalo Seven Prime Time Deliverance It's Been A While Since I Was Your Man God I hope someone bootlegged this show...just for that cover of Hurt. For those going to future shows, look forward to it if they play it again.
  5. A quote from an interview in Maxim with Josh Homme: "I'm not down with the emo style, where it's like 'Hi, I'm a total fucking pussy'". I laughed my ass off when I read that.
  6. Conan rules them all...only about 4 and 1/2 years until he takes over the Tonight Show
  7. I couldn't agree more. Memento was amazing, and Following and Insomnia were pretty good too.
  8. I'm looking forward to this one. And I've heard the same thing about the style, its more of a tribute to the gore-filled slasher flicks of the 70's. Rob Zombie sure knows a lot about horror movies and hopefully he pulls off a good one here.
  9. BY FAR the best TV show ever. Every episode that I have, I've probably watched at least 20 times. If you're looking for episodes try Kazaa or any other p2p thing, usually people have them on there. There are 5 DVDs in total, Seasons 1-3, and two "The Most Outrageous Episodes" DVDs. But as far as things from the show go, I don't think anything will ever beat Al's "A fat woman walks into the shoe store today..." stories. Hilarious.
  10. I had to put my vote in Meh. I like everything Trouble At The Henhouse and prior, everything after TATH is not very good in my opinion.
  11. Name - Goo Goo Dolls
  12. How about NOT raising the cost of tuition. Perhaps lowering it even? Or maybe keeping tuition the same but lowering the cost of books and any additional educational material? Lowering or freezing tuition costs without major government support is not sustainable. BC tried it, and when it failed, the price of tuition skyrocketed. And having governments support this would mean either cuts to other programs or tax hikes. The general public would be opposed to this (a "I don't use it" approach being their argument) and getting a government to do this would be a very difficult undertaking. Also, tuition has to rise due to rising costs of providing the service. Without increases in tuition, several things happen: -Profs leave. Since their raises are much smaller or non-existant, they go to a different place where they can make more money. Usually, its the best profs who leave first. -Less classes are offered to students, due to less profs and greater limitations on resources When these two things happen, the quality of education students receive is decreased and the degree a student receives becomes less respected in the business community(as compared to other universities), making it harder for the student to get a quality job. While I agree that something can be done to better control the rising cost, A complete stop on rising costs or a decrease is not a great idea. This idea does not even consider simple inflation in its argument. It is unsustainable, and in the end it will be the burden of future students in a large and quick way once the plan fails.
  13. Weapon, with Lullaby a very close second
  14. In my opinion, Flashdance is By Far the best song from Loser Anthems.
  15. Agreed. I was raised in a town of no more than 500 people, and every time I watch that show, I can always relate a character to someone I know from back home. Definitely some Saskatchewan humour in there. The cast of the show was the talk of the town(Regina) for a while, you'd see them around all the time.
  16. It was decent, but everyone I know who had seen it hyped it up to be absolutely hilarious. There were a few points where I chuckled but I didn't laugh a great deal. I think I would have been pissed if I paid more money to see it in the theater but its worth a rent.
  17. Saw 2 is supposed to be coming out around Halloween. Hopefully its as good as the first.
  18. I thought American Dad was good, but not as good as Family Guy and nowhere near as good as South Park.
  19. It's between II, IV and Houses. I voted for Houses simply because its got The Ocean.
  20. Metric is awesome live. I saw them open for Hot Hot Heat and HHH was nothing compared to Metric. Sucks that you missed your opportunity but they'll be back.
  21. I vote for putting Simple Plan vs. Good Charlotte in a death match. The survivor comes out with the title of crappiest pop punk band out there and the loser is dead. Really the only pop punk bands I can tolerate are New Found Glory and if they are considered to be pop punk, Riddlin Kids.
  22. I was considering going, but now that Killswitch Engage dropped off all of the Canadian dates I don't think I will be.
  23. so because they "blew up in the mainstream" that means they dont put on a good live show anymore? if a band is good live, they stay that way, regardless of popularity... I didn't mean it the way that you took it. I guess I omitted the fact that I wasn't too familiar with the band at the time and it was pretty much my introduction to them. Sorry, sometimes I leave out critical pieces which I assume that people know. I didn't mean that more success automatically equals crappier live show. I haven't seen them since they blew up and it might be a totally different atmosphere though. I wonder if a fair amount of the audience is all the "fans" who are just riding on the It's Popular Now bandwagon, and they'll hop off as soon as the next big thing comes around. Unfortunate, as Modest Mouse is a great band who deserves the recognition, but true.
