Float On - Modest Mouse Well THAT was a stretch. But I fail to see how "Hallucinogen - Mi-loony-um! (a floating butterfly stings like a bee mix)" relates to ""Like a Rolling Stone" Bob Dylan" -
I got the same file, the "Liquid Tension" one. I did a bit of research on it after I found it and got these results. It seems to be a three-member band that does instrumental prog-rock. Fits the bill for what the song sounds like, so that would be my first guess as to what it is.

Am I the only one grieving for the loss of "Ex-Pats of the Blue Mountain Symphony Orchestra". God, I love that song. But the addition of all the Audio of Being songs is kickass. I would have liked him to play "Generation X-Wing" though... ah well. ... two weeks two weeks two weeks ...

"Change of Season", "Look Happy, It's the End of the World"... In fact, pretty much all of Underdogs. Aside from Underdogs, I rarely listen to "Generation X-Wing" but when I do I love it to death. Such a good song.

Two weeks two weeks two weeks two weeks TWO WEEKS! Before I lost my Matthew Good Concert virginity. YES!

All of Loser Anthems. "Intermezzo: M. Good vs. M. Trolley" is hilarious.

Favorite music videos...

"Street Spirit (fade out)" by Radiohead takes top honours for me. That video is immensely complex and gorgeous. It's one of those videos that seems completely different every time you see it, one that changes with your mood. Simply amazing. -
Where Did You Obsession With Matt Good Start?
afterglow replied to GravityDave's topic in Matthew Good
Technically, it started when I saw the video for "Weapon" on MuchMusic. I thought it was pretty freaking cool, but as I didn't have the chance to see the beginning or the ending, I didn't know what it was or who played it. The months went by and one day my friend brought her American copy of Beautiful Midnight to school and let me borrow it, saying I would probably like Matthew Good Band. That was an understatement; I loved them. I played the CD over and over until finally I returned it to her and bought my own (Canadian) version. The obsession subsided quickly, and the CD just went into my pile of "good, but only an obsession" CDs. Then, one fateful day, I saw "Weapon" on MuchMusic again, this time I saw who did it and what song it was. Amazed by it (in particular when the guitars pick up) I immediately rushed off and downloaded all the Matthew Good Band stuff I could. A day after that, I ordered Underdogs, Audio of Being and Avalanche off of amazon.ca. That's where my obsession started. -
1. "Omissions of the Omen" 2. "Suburbia" 3. "Failing the Rorschach Test"

American track listing: 1. "Giant" 2. "Hello Time Bomb" 3. "Strange Days" 4. "Deep 6ix" 5. "Load Me Up" 6. "Failing The Rorschach Test" 7. "Suburbia" 8. "Apparitions" 9. "Jenni's Song" 10. "A Boy And His __________" 11. "The Future is X-Rated" 12. "Everything is Automatic" 13. "Born To ____" 14. "Running For Home" They censored 'Machine Gun' and 'Kill', that's why there are just underlines there. Way to be paranoid, America. Personally, I much prefer the Canadian version. Having "Deep 6ix" where it is totally destroys the mood of "Strange Days". "I Miss New Wave" does a much better job at continuing the mood. "Everything is Automatic" is far too upbeat to lead into "Born to Kill". I wish my "Beautiful Midnight" had "Apparitions" though.

"Truffle Pigs" by far. I'm not sure, it just strikes a chord.

How could you forget "Rico"?! "Rico" always puts me in a good mood.

She made "Wishing You Would Stay" (by The Tea Party) enjoyable. She rocks. -
The Best Albums Of 2004
afterglow replied to spiritofeden's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
I must disagree about The Tea Party. While Seven Circles was good, it was nowhere near as well put-together as "Edges of Twilight" or "Interzone Mantras". And I'm a huge Tea Party fan, at that. It just didn't hold up in my opinion, even though I am in love with the song "Stargazer". I would add "Final Straw" by Snow Patrol to the list, as it's my favourite release of the year. -
1. "Hello Time Bomb" Personally, it's my favorite Matt Good song. I bought BM when MGB was on its way out, so I missed the overplaying completely. 2. "Primetime Deliverance" Actually, I don't like either of the songs. That's just me, though. 3. "Load Me Up" I love "Running for Home", but there's something about "Load Me Up".

Capital Music Hall, Ottawa, October 25. Getting tickets Saturday! I'm excited! I'm a Matthew Good Concert virgin.

"Truffle Pigs" loss to "Load Me Up" makes me hurt inside. 1. "Fall of Man" 2. "Weapon" 3. "Alert Status Red" 4. "While We Were Hunting Rabbits" 5. "The Future is X-Rated" 6. "Advertising on Police Cars"

Is Punk Dead?
afterglow replied to THE MAN's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
Punk is mostly dead. Only Tommy and Marky Ramone left until punk is completely dead. -
Hard choice. Well, not really. Everytime I hear "Pledge of Allegiance", my soul dies a little. And, is it even possible to hate "Hello Time Bomb"?

Who Do You Think Is The Most Talented Musician?
afterglow replied to Devil On Rollerskates's topic in Matthew Good
Dave Genn. From what I heard, he helped a lot with the songs on BM, so that's good enough for me. -
.. I definitely haven't seen enough of these to vote with a good conscience. I said "Hello Time Bomb" because it seemed to suit it very very well. I didn't even know they made half those videos...

Awesome idea... 1. "Giant" 2. "Hello Time Bomb" 3. "Apparitions" 4. "Empty Road" 5. "Avalanche" 6. "Truffle Pigs" 7. "Suburbia" 8. "Under the Influence" 9. "Near Fantastica" 10. "Indestructible" 11. "Buffalo Seven" 12. "The Future is X-Rated" 13. "House of Smoke & Mirrors" 14. "Running for Home" Some of those choices were ridiculously hard.

new song youre lookin most forward to hearing live
afterglow replied to spieslikeus's topic in Matthew Good
I can't wait to hear "Empty Road". I read the article in the Ottawa Citizen a while back about him playing it in concert, and the guy said it was awesome live. Since I really liked the CD version, I'm sure the live version will be just as gorgeous. -
I don't think Matt's the kind of guy who would avoid something too controversial. I think it's quite the opposite. I think he just doesn't like the line, as it isn't all that great. I'll see if he says it when he comes to Ottawa.
