lol, Matt Good would respond more formally like: "Dear Web User: You are a complete fool to compare me to Mayer, R.E.M, etc. Matthew Good"
-
Really, you see... I think that long time listeners are very refined and are immediately attracted to Matt's work on either Avalanche or WLRRR. I liked every song on that album the very first time I listened to it... I was take aback by how good it is....
-
hehe, he won't play Hopeless in the concerts I don't think... that song will be saved for close quarter concerts in very small venues I bet. Anyways, you need to get passed the stage where you can't accept the country/folk instrumentation... just feel the flow of his voice and rythm.... good stuff... but, each to his own... you're not going to like every single song... let's face it.
-
Yah, I suppose you guys are right, you bring up a good point with "21st Century Living" because he did the whole anti-iraq content in the tour. Maybe he was avoiding it because he just felt it didn't suit his mood at the time... he'll sing songs differently based on his present mood at that instant.... lots of artists do that.
-
I went with Strange Days... that's a brilliant video that tells an excellent, meaningful story that directly relates to your feelings when listenin' to Strange Days.... and Indestructible is a great video.
-
Hopeless is pure genious... you'll see... you'll like it... takes some time.
-
lol, that's the beauty of it.... for some reason the 3rd song on all the albums are absolute killers. I like the choices so far.... but c'mon tripoli over Strange Days, Weapon, Apparitions, etc..... hehe, person opinion.

...full of holes of indignation? or full of night and day light savings? I think it's about opening oneself's inside, and combatting inner deamons... he wants the light of this "raygun" to get to what's dark, the darker parts of himself. He begs for his deamons to be released because they're "trapped"... there's a "vice above his head" that won't let them out or anything in... except this raygun... that can penetrate him (maybe this raygun is a friend or a lover).and release these wrongs, "the holes inside his heart." He also wishes to be armored... by aspirations that will disguise these deamons... so noone inside will know of these inner inpure thoughts or feelings, they will only perceive his outside ambitions... that are truly futile because he is not pure inside. He wants the knives of nations and a shovel (symbols) to bring out these deamons, maybe they are inpure thoughts about politics or the way the world works... and he needs them to be released... and then he needs to be refilled with knew, pure ideals or "dirt". He claims that inside himself there is his old inside... this could refer to his older self... the self which he wants to release. He wants to discover all of this...he wants to be taken inside himself to clense himself, "Take me with you". He then basically wishes it could all end... "wishes it was over" the misery of having to constantly combat fears or w/e haunts him. I dunno, there's some ideas.. I'm sure I'm off in many aspects... but that could bring out some ideas from other ppl... so please someone expand or manipulate some of those ideas.... gl.. not easy.

Alright, lol, I'll admit I'm a sap... too bad I can't rap (that rymes btw). Anyways... can I send NF real money (preferably monopoly money) to get NF$? lol.
-
Alright, I'm jumping on the begging band wagon... I just saw that there were 3 pages worth of stuff in the NF store.... Now I'm having a freak out or something... So anyone willing to make minor donations would be greatly appreciated... I've been posting pretty regularly... so anything would be great, ty (And anyone who gives me $1 as a joke will feel the wrath of my inability to do anything).

I've heard "In Love with a Bad Idea" a bunch of times on the radio ;)

Alright, I know this is going to frustrate you guys.... here are the rules: You guys got to make the ultimate MG(Band) c.d., a combination of songs from all the albums, but: The songs placement must coincide with the play order on it's original c.d.: For example, the first song can only be: Alabama Motel Room, Deep Six, Raygun, Giant, Man of Action, etc. Now good luck making the decisions for the next 14...... p.s. all Hidden Songs will count as the number following the last song on the album.... therefore Omissions is 11 and Hopeless is 13... ;) B-Sides are allotted in as 14. My picks? 1. Man of Action 2. Everything is Automatic 3. Strange Days (OMG Weapon and Apparitions are out... NO!) 4. Advertising on Police Cars 5. Load of Up 6. Failing the Rorschach Test 7. While We Were Hunting Rabbits 8.Prime Time Deliverance 9. Blue Skies Over Badlands (Ouch, NF is sooo good 10. Indestructible 11. Omissions of the Omen 12. Sort of a Protest Song 13. Change of Season 14. Running From Home Dear God that's a good C.D. lol, Good Luck

Maybe he feels it's too controversial... It wouldn't be the first time artists remove lyrics, not because they believe it's inappropriate or false, but because they think there's somewhat of a potential for ppl being somewhat offended.... a lot of casual listeners at a concert might get rowdy after hearing something like that, especially if they're American Bush supporters or even Canadian.

new song youre lookin most forward to hearing live
Maverick replied to spieslikeus's topic in Matthew Good
I went with Alert Status Red, 'cause I've heard Big City Life and Blue Skies (which were the bomb) off the site already. Plus Alert Status Red is just classic, rock fun... And it's something you just plainly enjoy... like Hello Time Bomb or Load Me Up.... cept I've heard those live a bunch of times already. -
lol, spieslikeus should automatically be deducted 700$ for quoting 50 cent..... lol, j/k (but seriously, never quote 50 cent).... hehe.
-
Oh man, I can't believe some of these answers.... lol, it's just so surprising... some of the songs ppl have listed are some of Matt's best.... and some people listed like 5 songs.... argh... that's as far as my frustration is going to take me, before I start offending ppl. I suppose it's all personal opinion anyways.... What's my least favourite song, probably "Every Name is My Name" but I still like it a lot, especially the end ;).
-
More accurately, he'd probably dive into some incredibly complicated philosophy that would go right over everybody's head, but he'd say it so fluently and confidently that he'd make you look completely stupid as you gave him the most confused look..... anyone else want to hear him tell you what he means? lol, me either...I'll pass... it sounds damn good and I'm sure it means somethin' though.
-
Lol, why do you have to ask such frustrating questions, here we go: LotGA: Symbolistic White Walls Underdogs: Change of Season Raygun: So Long Mrs.Smith (the spring, I think that I should go...) Beautiful Midnight: Strange Days AoB: Sort of a Protest Song Avalanche: While We Were Hunting Rabbits WLRRR: We're So Heavy

I just answered with the whole breaking into his house bit. That's just too priceless to not vote for. Anyways, out of curiosity, all those autograph getters out there.... how does one go about getting an autograph from Matt Good before/after his concert? Where does he go? How do I find him without looking desperate? lol, etc.
-
In the lyrics for Big City Life, I think that "....use" is actually "...you lose" anyone concur?
-
I like Annabelle a lot... so I voted that way...it's powerful and melodic.... I'll probably be the only one... the others are rock solid.
-
lol, i almost threw up when I saw "Our Lady Peace", thank god I kept reading .... next time prepare us for something like that ;)
-
lmao, John Mayar vs. Matt Good.... no comparison... John Mayar's songs are by no means similar to Matt Goods...... argh... using them in the same sentence is just wrong. MG has more talent in his pinky finger than Mayar has in total.
-
Yah, Big City Life...something about 21 and Big City Life... that's it, that's all I understand.
-
Nobody, isn't that the beauty of Matt Good... noone has come near to Matt Good's tone quality and variety.... he writes so many different songs with different moods and speeds... it's just extremely hard to compare him to anyone... it's like comparing apples and bananas (or is it oranges?)... some fruit of any kind... that's not an apple... although it could be a vegetable too... okay im gonna shut up.
