I liked it so much that I saved it on my computer in case he ever takes it down. Freakin' hysterical, yet so scathing at the same time.

All I can do is echo the sentiment... a-with-a-teeth-a. I like the album, but it's not my favorite NIN record... I think it'll grow on me, though. And mine came with 2 extra tracks, which are pretty sweet (yay for UK versions).

Not only is the book amazing, but I got to bring it up in one of my classes last semester. I miss TDS so much (this is what I get for being in England for 5 months without SKYtv)

Chris Cornell Fans Question Mark
deadstar replied to ktopar's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
I really liked his solo album and everything he did with Soundgarden. (I can't stand Audioslave). Anyway, I think 'Moonchild' used to be my favorite track off of the album. -
I've seen a few episodes and it's really funny. My friend has some Mr. Show DVDs so that's how I heard about it, but then I also caught some other eps on late-night HBO last year. So, yes. Good show.

Does Anyone Here Have A Band?
deadstar replied to Lux's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
I'd offer you some advice, but all of my on-stage experiences with my bands have been rather disasterous (I'd like to think that they were by no fault of my own). Anyway, the only things I can recommend are: -do not play if your guitarist decides to go on vacation when you're supposed to have your gig. -do not play in a band with someone with untreated bipolar disorder and manic depression. It will only lead to one of your other band members running off the stage crying, the crazy one doing a 'war dance' around a tree, and you, stuck, alone on stage, apologizing, and then leaving with your tail between your legs. I've had other things go wrong as well , but um, I've had some good experiences, too (haven't played a show in about 5 or 6 years). So just practice A LOT and relax. You'll have a good time. -

Good song, but the original is far superior. You're right about that. I love Bowie's version, but the Pixies kind of owned that one. Hmm...my favorite songs would have to be "Heroes," "Little Wonder," "I'm Afraid of Americans," and "Aladdin Sane" (in addition to the ones already mentioned). -
I met him after the Montreal show in November and he couldn't have been more friendly toward me (or the people with me). The security guys let in a few people at a time, so my friend went in right before I did and when I walked in, he greeted me by asking if I was "the Amnesty girl" becuase my friend had apparently mentioned something to that extent. It was great... must have spent 5 minutes chatting with him about politics (it was right after the US election, so we had plenty to discuss) and Amnesty. I walked out of there on a total high, having just met one of my favorite musicians after 6 or so years of being a fan. And I don't get star-struck very easily. (The only other time that happened was the first time I met Jakob Dylan of the Wallflowers...) Right, long story short - yes, I met him and no, he wasn't an ass.

I don't think he's done with music, either...but on an unrelated note, Freaks and Geeks is my all-time favorite show and you're right about it being so great because of how few episodes they made (though I do think that the writers were good enough for a few more).

I only have "Resident Alien," but I love it. I picked it up on a whim from a used record shop for US$1. Now to find the rest of the albums. Yeah, I'd say they're pretty underrated. -
I LOVE Ours, though I was less than impressed by 'Precious' as a follow-up to 'Distorted Lullabies' The new stuff is pretty sweet, especially live (I saw Jimmy Gnecco play a few times solo this summer).

Nine Inch Nails
deadstar replied to The_Rat_Who_Would_be_King's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
NIN is definitely one of my all-time favorite bands, so I can't wait for the new album to come out (I liked 'bleedthrough' better as a title, though). -
I've been to 3 shows - MGB - July of 2001 in Vancouver Matt solo - April 5 (or something near that date) of 2003 in Montreal Matt solo - November 6, 2004 - Montreal

I'm really sad to see him go, especially since I love "Law and Order" and am from New York. R.I.P. Here's a little-known tid-bit about him- he did the voice of Lumiere in 'Beauty and the Beast'.

I'm supposed to see it tonight. Glad to see some positive reviews.

I saw them on Saturday night... Oh. My. God. Top 5 concerts of all time. Well worth the $45 I paid for the ticket. -

NIN=awesome. I'm sad, though- low on cash and my friend scratches up my copy of 'The Downward Spiral". -

How Many Of These Have You Read?
deadstar replied to Scot's topic in Rentals, Television, and Readables
THE GREAT GATSBY by F. Scott Fitzgerald BRAVE NEW WORLD by Aldous Huxley TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD by Harper Lee 1984 by George Orwell SLAUGHTERHOUSE-FIVE by Kurt Vonnegut ANIMAL FARM by George Orwell LORD OF THE FLIES by William Golding BELOVED by Toni Morrison AS I LAY DYING by William Faulkner ALL THE KING'S MEN by Robert Penn Warren A CLOCKWORK ORANGE by Anthony Burgess THE CALL OF THE WILD by Jack London I'd say there are a good 20 more on my never-ending "to-read" list, too. -
I've got the black one, complete with lyrics booklet. Useless or not, I thought it was cool at the time.
