North Korea Tests Its First A-bomb
HoboFactory replied to HoboFactory's topic in Politics and Debate: WRONG!
Japanese seismographs detected a huge jump in readings at the time the nuke went off, in the same location, where there is no major fault line and earthquakes rarely, if ever, take place. I'd say it's confirmed. There's confirmation of the event from seismologists from a few different nations. The thing is, some estimates of the yield of the blast suggest it was probably only half a kiloton. This actually means it's possible the event in question could have been a detonation of a hell of a lot of conventional explosives. If the other estimates are correct, which say it was a 1-2 kiloton (some say even 15) blast, it'd definitely be a nuclear device. Apparently, there's a lot of data to analyze and they would probably need to have a look at the movement around the test-site, see if they find out what was going on there prior to the blast. -
Best Sunday Fox Show?
HoboFactory replied to el tripoli's topic in Rentals, Television, and Readables
I'm not big on any of them. I haven't bothered to watch any of those shows in quite a long time. Once the novelty of Family Guy coming back wore off, it became painfully clear that it's actually quite terrible and stupid. American Dad is worse still, so bad in fact I've never been able to finish an episode. The Simpsons have gona downhill considerably years ago and there's no reason to believe it's ever gonna get better. They should have probably ended it years ago. Sure people would probably have missed it a bit, but at least it would have been remembered in a more positive light than the pop-culture drivel it has become will be. I've seen a few episodes of the War at Home, although there's the occasional laugh, it's basically a waterd-down take on Married With Children. -

Woke up this morning and it seemed to me, that every night turns out to be A little more like Bukowski. And yeah, I know he's a pretty good read. But God who'd wanna be? God who'd wanna be such an asshole? God who'd wanna be? God who'd wanna be such an asshole? Well we sat on the edge of the river, the crowd screamed, "Sacrifice the liver!" If God takes life, he's an Indian giver. So tell me now why, you'll tell me never. Who would wanna be? Who would wanna be such a control freak? Well who would wanna be? Who would wanna be such a control freak? Well see what you wanna see. You should see it all. Well take what you want from me. You deserve it all. Nine times out of ten our hearts just get dissolved. Well I want a better place or just a better way to fall. But one time out of ten, everything is perfect for us all. Well I want a better place or just a better way to fall. Here we go! If God controls the land and disease, keeps a watchful eye on me, If he's really so damn mighty, my problem is I can't see, well who would wanna be? Who would wanna be such a control freak? Well who would wanna be? Who would wanna be such a control freak? Evil home stereo, what good songs do you know? Evil me, oh yeah I know, what good curves can you throw? Well all that icing and all that cake, I can't make it to your wedding, but I'm sure I'll be at your wake. You were talk, talk, talk, talkin' in circles that day, when you get to the point make sure that I'm still awake, OK? Went to bed and didn't see why every day turns out to be a little bit more like Bukowski. And yeah, I know he's a pretty good read. But God who'd wanna be? God who'd wanna be such an asshole?

you should start a religion and call it christianity. Umm, if guilt was entirely unnecessary, then people wouldn't have the capacity to feel guilty. There would have to be something mentally wrong with you if you never feel guilty about anything ever. It really doesn't have much to do with Christianity or religion, should come rather naturally.

More like insulting douchebags who need to grow up.

Because it's stupid to think you should always do all that you feel like doing at any given moment. The whole instant gratification obsession so many people have is a serious problem for society. but it's also stupid to assume that there's this universal standard of good and bad, which is fundamental to the whole guilty pleasure concept even existing. people shouldnt feel guilty about listenning to WHAM! because the majority of their friends generally disapprove, or because a plethora of music critics say that WHAM! stink. people are always going to come up with rationalizations as to why you should feel guilty about liking something, regardless of what it is. people feel guilty because they know they shouldn't be liking that certain thing, but who the hell dictates that anyways? it's absurd. i fail to see how feeling guilty is improving the quality of life in this society of ours... maybe you need to explain that a little more. i'm not talking about instant gratification anyways, im talking about being comfortable with who you are and what you enjoy. embrace it, don't feel guilty about it. obviously, if someone cites "heroin" as their current guilty pleasure, that overwrought-with-guilt feeling might just be what's left of their conscience... but that's an extreme example. most of the things people are listing here are kinds of music, video games, etc. Sure, I agree with things as minor as liking shitty bands or lame TV shows is nothing to feel guilty about. But the idea that one should always do what they feel like, regardless of what everyone else thinks, as a universally-applied principle in life would make one extremely selfish and moronic. I think guilt certainly can help society. I know for me at least, it's kept me from doing all sorts of horrible things.

I think it's neat that most of the halloween costumes for chicks look like the outfits from porn.

What I don't understand about tattoos is the people that go way overboard with them. Every once in a while, I see someone (who likely not by coincidence also looks homeless) on the streets has some tribal-looking tattoo design all over their face. While even a relatively tasteful tattoo may not be looked well upon in the world of office jobs and corporations, the whole face thing would probably eliminate one's chances of being hired by even McDonald's. I can understand the need to be different, but it's also stupid if you take being different so far, and go about it in such a superficial way, that you genuinely ruin your chances at a functional life.

"Once Upon A Time In America" and "Taxi Driver" Sometimes it's hard to get enough of that De Niro. Both were quite alright movies, worth seeing.

Various people have been saying it for years now. He's reportedly not been in good health for the last few years. The real question is if it would make any real difference.

I've a really strong aversion to anything with Jo(h?)n Heder.

I like the single, I expect something at least alright. -
This looks like one of those really pretentious artsy for the sake of being artsy and weird type flicks. Lame.

Yeah... the less we see of Tom Cruise, the better.
