Haha okay, sorry. I thought you were joking at first then I re-read it and thought maybe you were serious, though MG naming a song Matt Good's Song for any reason seems a bit pretentious and therefore unlike him.

What Imagery Do You Associate With Some Of Matt's Songs?
MarcoBeltrami replied to MarcoBeltrami's topic in Matthew Good
I feel I am missing out on something everyone else experiences, I have never associated any color with any song, beyond of course the color of the imagery I see. Haha indeed your name is not Kickass. I am well aware of the bored heirarchy, I just wasn't paying attention or looking where I should have. 1-3 hours sleep for 6 weeks now, my concentration is a bit lacking atm ;) -
What are those?

What Imagery Do You Associate With Some Of Matt's Songs?
MarcoBeltrami replied to MarcoBeltrami's topic in Matthew Good
Oh wow, guess that just shows how differently everyone "experiences" a song. Thats kinda cool, static or molten associated with the song. I don't see it at all, but I'm sure you don't see pizza delivery guys, vodka ads, and especially Abbotsford ;) and thats why I asked in the first place. For some fucking reason I associate Black Helicopter with Ridley Scott's Black Hawk Down. I realize its a black helicopter, but the lyrics in no way refer to anything like that movie's events, so yeah. Haha, cold tony, never heard that one before. Thanks Kickass. Theres far worse stuff to that story but yeah, pretty fucking heartless--and I think of my old friend every hour of every day, without fail. Don't have one bad memory of him besides how he left; Never argued, never hurt me, I never hurt him. On a side note I just won a copy of Loser Anthems for 13 bucks on Ebay. One of the few CD's I don't have, yay. -
What Are Some Of The Songs Previously Named?
MarcoBeltrami replied to MarcoBeltrami's topic in Matthew Good
Thanks Jesse, Youtube listed the song titled "Fake Mission to Alderan (Homecoming 1)" so I thought maybe the uploader was indicating its original title. And thanks alot OceanPearl, I was very curious about that one's fate. That also explains why no one mentioned one lyric when commenting on Matt's blog after he posted it. -
I've always been curious because Matt's lyrics are very open from person to person as to what they mean, what do you imagery comes to you when listening to certain songs? For me, A Boy and His Machine Gun "when you're finished struggling, are you free tonight?" I imagine some guy with a shitty job working for some asshole getting off work, running to his car in the rain, and finding a note stuck under his wiper from a girl he's got a thing for. "One day we'll wake up and there'll be advertising on police cars" brings a vivid picture of a very bleak and colorless future, a police car with a big Smirnoff logo plastered on it. The opening instrumental for The Boy Who Could Explode makes me think of Abbotsford, seeing Matt from front row as he did a little footwork, bobbing a bit as he got ready to sing, the lights penetrating the darkness, the feel of the crowd, the sheer power of his vocals--exactly as he sounds on CD. It was the first time I'd seen him in concert and remains to this day one of the single most memorable and best days of my life--and sharing it with the girl I'd had a major crush on for 4 years, who became my girlfriend basically as a direct result of the trip from very northern BC to the concert in Abbotsford. My ex-girlfriend (same one as above, 2 years together, then when my best friend of 17 years killed himself I fell into depression and she left me for my second best "friend", who was fucking her while I was in mourning. Nice ending to 3 relationships in the span of 3 months and in no way a depressing explanation, yay!) said in Set Me on Fire the part about "While I rock the boat, sing to me" she imagines a little kid being cuddled by his mother, in a boat on the ocean, as she (shockingly) sings to him, which never crossed my mind, I imagined two lovers in a boat at night under the moon, on a lake.

Oh ajar, sigh. I hate wordplay riddles. I like puzzle-riddles, like your "nothing" one.

10/10, can't believe you hated No Country with such a passion. It's one of those movies I can watch again and again and never get tired of it. I notice you're from Fargo, which the Coen brothers (who made No Country) directed, so I have to wonder what you'd rate... Pan's Labyrinth! (bet you thought I was gonna say Fargo, eh? ^_^ )

Game Of Thrones
MarcoBeltrami replied to Moonlight_Graham's topic in Rentals, Television, and Readables
Goddamn it. Even though you blacked out the spoilers, they were totally visible (no, mouse wasn't over it). I don't know if its from Google Chrome but that was definitely not something I wanted to read :| Still totally into the show, and I rarely watch TV, maybe 30 hours a year at most. As soon as Season 2 ends I plan to read all the books. -
I'm sure this has been covered before, but I glanced through old topics and didn't see it covered. I'm wondering what some of the rarer versions of songs are, for example: Portrait of Artist in Jungle became Last Parade. Homecoming, did that become Fake Mission to Alderaan? I've seen many people post on other sites about "A Little Something to Fall Asleep To" but no one mentions any lyrics at any point, so I was wondering if it became another song on LOES, or scrapped completely? I've read quite a bit of Matt's blog, all the sections of NearFantastica.com with any info on lyrics, previous names, unreleased tracks, etc, as well as all wikipedia pages in any way related to Matt Good or MGB, and still don't have answers to a lot. If one of the truly knowledgeable persons on this forum would just give a quick reply with known name changes or scrapped tracks I'd very, very much appreciate it.

I only heard the extended and in my opinion much better version of Hornets (6:06 as opposed to 3:58) 3 days ago and have not been able to stop listening to it. For me it is one of my favourite songs and I sincerely doubt that's just because its fresh for me; I thought the same of "Last Parade" when it was brand new (and when it was a demo known as Portrait of Artist in Jungle), and indeed it is still one of my top favourites.

I don't know the answer to the "door" riddle but the second one the answer is nothing. A father and son were driving in snowy weather, hit ice, lost control and crashed into oncoming traffic. An ambulance rushed to the scene to take them the hospital. The father died en route, the son was in critical condition. Soon the ambulance reached the hospital, and the boy was rushed into an emergency operating room. The surgeon came in, saw the boy, and said "I can't operate on this boy; He's my son." How could this be?

4/10 and thats being generous. Heres hoping David Goyer's (co-writer of the new Batman films) involvement in writing the sequel makes for a much better flick. No Country for Old Men

Youtube Question
MarcoBeltrami replied to Moonlight_Graham's topic in Tech Section: A Hard Drive at Risk
I know that a 360p compared to a 480p video improves the audio when you set a higher res. In terms of clarity, 360 and 480 are a bitrate of 96, when the standard bare minimum for quality audio is 128kbps. I believe the lower settings are mono and the higher are stereo. Youtube changes its settings constantly; a couple years ago they had 128 bitrate on 480 vids, then they restricted it to higher resolution, then they restored it to 480. I stopped following their changes since they are all too often, but definitely if you want to know one way or the other if the audio can be improved, the higher resolutions always have better bitrates. Edit: Fail, I didn't notice til after replying that this post was from 2010! I saw Feb 11th and assumed that today being the 14th it was a recent question. -
If Any Kind Soul Is Going To See Matt Good On Tour
MarcoBeltrami replied to MarcoBeltrami's topic in Matthew Good
*bump* ;) -
I was infinitely more proud to be British Columbian after reading that post on Matt's website. For the happiness he brings, I don't find that much of a fair payback. When the new tour kicked off, I was in Abbotsford for the first concert, front row, had the fucking time of my life. I could not stop smiling ear to ear. I saw someone post a play list of what was played at the concert, and the first dozen replies were to the effect of "What a shitty playlist" I don't even know how you can be a fan of Matt Good and complain about a playlist or act like a general fuckass at a concert. I cannot think of a time in recent memory that I enjoyed myself more than I did at the concert, and became an even bigger fan of Matt Good that night, which I didn't think was possible.

A fan of Matt Good's for over a dozen years, I recently went to see him front row at the Abbotsford Performance Arts Center with one of my best friends. We went out back after the AMAZING concert, hoping to possibly get to meet Matt. We weren't aware that he wasn't meeting/signing that night (nor this tour, thanks H1N1!) we planned to go back in after to buy autographed CDs and posters and whatnot, but well we kind of forgot :  I have watched Ebay and any other websites I could think to, steadily, since Abbotsford, but have had no luck. The only way to get autographed items is at the concerts, so if anyone here plans to go to a concert in the very near future and wouldn't mind buying some stuff for me, I can pay over paypal or mail or whatever. Please send me a private message if you would like to contact me, thanks ;)
