Alexisonfire - Watch Out! -
Results From Group D from Round 2 1) Fall of Man 8 vs Near Fantastica 14 2) I, The Throw Away 3 vs Weapon 19 3) Fearless 9 vs Alert Status Red 13 4) While We Were Hunting Rabbits 14 vs The Inescapable Us 8 5) North American For Life 6 vs The Future is X-Rated 16 6) Advertising on Police Cars 19 vs Under The Influence 3 NOTES: -Not one matchup was close, this was a total blowout round. -All six wins were by the song with the better rank. (Better ranked songs = 21 wins-3 losses) -Introducing a slight format change to the matchup appearance. Okay okay, the round of 48 was a bit better, but now we’re getting down to the songs that are supposed to make this interesting. Fewer “fluke” songs are left, and things just may end up getting a little more violent! ROUND 3: GROUP A MATCHUPS 1) Hello Time Bomb(29-10 --- Ranked #14) vs Giant (27-11 --- Ranked #18) ---“Hello Time Bomb” defeated: Round 1: Can’t Get Shot in the Back If You Don’t Run: 16-4 Round 2: 21st Century Living: 13-6 ---“Giant” defeated: Round 1: She’s Got a New Disguise: 12-4 Round 2: Fated: 15-7 My Pick: Hello Time Bomb.. READY TO GO.. READY TO GO ON.. to the next round!!! Prediction: Since a lot of people got sick of HTB as it was a heavily played single, I’m thinking Giant takes it.. 2) Prime Time Deliverance (33-9 --- Ranked #8) vs Sort of a Protest Song (32-12 –Ranked #15) ---“Prime Time Deliverance” defeated: Round 1: In Love With a Bad Idea: 16-4 Round 2: Lullaby For The New World Order: 17-5 ---“Sort of a Protest Song” defeated: Round 1: Native Son: 16-4 Round 2: Generation X-Wing: 16-8 My Pick: After hours of thinking, I finally decided to go with Prime Time Deliverance.. although I’m sure I would think about it again if I had a chance to. Prediction: This could very well be THE hardest pairing to have to choose from.. two huge songs, but I think Prime Time Deliverance takes the win. 3) Running For Home (42-5 -- Ranked #3) vs Load Me Up (27-18--- Ranked #23) ---“Running For Home” defeated: Round 1: Carmelina: 19-4 Round 2: Man From Harold Wood 23-1 ---“Load Me Up” defeated: Round 1: I Miss New Wave: 15-8 Round 2: Truffle Pigs 12-10 My Pick: Load Me Up.. not enough upbeat songs are gonna make it in.. we need something! Prediction: Running For Home takes the win.

i think it woulda been THE song from WLRRR ;)
-
i had a feeling the guy who came to clean our water system was matt.. i just knew it! even though his name tag clearly said steve.. i knew it totally was matt
-
wow.. none of these matchups are as close as i expected.. but regardless.. its helping to shape round 3 to be very very tough
-
yeah most HMV stores had a huge matt good poster.. the size of like one's ceiling when avalanche came out and then when WLRRR came out.. but the jerks there wouldnt give either to me.. because employees have seniority... maybe i should get a job at hmv.. and then when a new cd comes out.. i can sneak some copies.. and everyone here at nf.com would be able to get matt's next album maybe a week or two in advance ;)
-
wow.. that's pretty darn amazing! i agree with everyone else.. give it to matt.. im sure he'd keep it and put it on his wall at home or something.. he'd definitely take appreciation to it :)
-
i actually like the cover art for the advance radio promo copy of beautiful midnight.. with the lightning.. and the dark blue sky.. its so simple.. yet so awesome.
-
ya.. the end of strange days leads perfectly into the beginning of i miss new wave.. its like a continuation.. whereas strange days ending and you hear the rock of deep 6.. is like rude awakening from a nice relaxing dream type thing.. boo deep 6!
-
Hey ood_mutler, is the Australian Hello Time Bomb single still available?? If so, I would so buy it, and give you the money for it plus more as a thanks. ;) If anyone wants the mgb tracks.. I've got them.. but just to be fair to Anton and the NF board, I wont send out the mp3s of songs that are available at the NF store.
-
hey whats the difference with the underdogs/beautiful midnight(aussie edition) compared to that of the canadian one (i know the american B.M. has a different tracklist)
-
I personally would not include it on WLRRR.. well if he got rid of Hopeless.. and made Annabelle the hidden track then okay.. because Hopeless is the worst song ever! But otherwise, Annabelle really doesnt fit the flow of WLRRR.
-
So who is the ultimate collector of MGB merchandise?? Yay! All my cds are now autographed, except IAWCC singles and WLRRR! ;) CDs: Burned CD with ALL MGB and Pre-MGB demos Lost of the Ghetto Astronauts Raygun Underdogs (Advance Copy -- with band photo) Underdogs Beautiful Midnight Beautiful Midnight (American Version) Audio of Being Avalanche (Ltd Edition) White Light Rock and Roll Review (Ltd Digipak Edition) Singles: Apparitions Hello Time Bomb (European) Strange Days (European) Strange Days (American) Future is X-Rated (European) In a World Called Catastrophe In a World Called Catastrophe (Australian) Clothing: MGB Toque MGB Hoodie "mgb football club" Miscellaneous: Hello Time Bomb trade poster Strange Days trade poster Matt Good Amnesty International Button Matthew Good Band tour poster (with Moist) Dec 1999 Edition of Access Magazine w/ MGB on cover Still Looking For: Everything is Automatic single Indestructible single Rico single Carmelina single Antipop single Alert Status Red single Load Me Up (European) single Blue Loser Anthems Lo Fi B-Sides Beautiful Midnight (Advance Copy) Hello Time Bomb (Australian) Hello Time Bomb (American) Near Fantastica single I know these all exist, because I've tried bidding on them only to lose last minute!

1) Pledge of Allegiance (totally blows giant and man of action out of the water) 2) Symbolistic White Walls (cause I can play it on guitar hehe) 3) Weapon 4) Advertising on Police Cars (hands down) 5) Load Me Up 6) 21st Century Living 7) Suburbia 8) Radio Bomb 9) The Inescapable Us 10) A Boy and His Machine Gun (hehe its #10 on AMERICAN Beautiful Midnight.. even though I'm canadian) 11) Omissions of the Omen 12) A Long Way Down 13) Change of Season 14) Pony Boy
-
well I have the American B.M. it's not as good as the Canadian.. given that Deep 6.. totally ruins the flow of the album.. Everything is automatic sounds better in the american version though... its got added tweaks and noticeable guitar extras.. i like it better.. Hello Time Bomb has extra guitars and sounds like it has more depth.. Strange Days has more drums and is louder on American B.M. Apparitions I really cant tell the difference... Suburbia has more bass in it.. its so much more haunting.. but the addition of deep 6.. totally ruins the whole experience.
-
Reliance is one of the unrecorded songs that MGB wrote from the Underdogs era.. i was told it was played live a few times.

Results From Group C 1) Load Me Up 12 vs Truffle Pigs 10 2) Everything is Automatic 11 vs Born To Kill 11* 3) My Out of Style is Coming Back 14 vs Havent Slept in Years 8 4) Prime Time Deliverance 17 vs Lullaby For The New World Order 5 5) We’re So Heavy 6 vs A Boy and His Machine Gun 14 6) Fated 7 vs Giant 15 NOTES: Well that Born To Kill vs Everything is Automatic was a thriller to count. It went back and forth and forth and back. The Giant vs Fated match wasn’t as close as I expected. The victories for Load Me Up and Born To Kill, marked the first time the lower ranked song got the victory. ROUND 2: GROUP D MATCHUPS 1) Fall of Man(17-6 --- Ranked #22) vs Near Fantastica (19-1 --- Ranked #2) ---“Fall of Man” enters round 2 after defeating “Expats of the Blue Mountain Symphony Orchestra” 17-6 in round 1. ---“Near Fantastica” is coming off a 19-1 raping over “In a World Called Catastrophe” in round 1 My Pick: I’m gonna go with Fall of Man.. it’s just more appealing.. I love the ending.. kinda reminds me of a boy and his machine gun.. Prediction: Well Near Fantastica is gonna win.. but not because it’s the name of the site or anything… lol ;) 2) I, The Throw Away (10-6 --- Ranked #33) vs Weapon (17-4 –Ranked #11) --- “I, The Throw Away” enjoyed a 10-6 victory over “Raygun” in their first round match. --- “Weapon knocked off “Middle Class Gangsters” by a 17-4 margin. My Pick: Weapon by a mile! Prediction: Weapon by a mile! *wow its like there’s an echo…echo..echo..echo..*). 3) Alert Status Red (16-4 -- Ranked #17) vs Fearless (10*-10--- Ranked #48) ---“Alert Status Red” is coming off a strong 16-4 victory over “Every Name is My Name” ---“Fearless” is looking to continue its win streak after a 10*-10 win over “Look Happy It’s The End of the World”. My Pick: Alert Status Red..no contest Prediction: Yeah, Alert Status Red.. should win this. 4) While We Were Hunting Rabbits (18-2 --- Ranked #4) vs The Inescapable Us (14-6 – Ranked #24) ---“While We Were Hunting Rabbits” is coming off a monster 18-2 victory over “Hopeless” in round 1 action. ---“The Inescapable Us” is into round 2 after a 14-6 beating on “Dusk” My Pick: The Inescapable Us.. both are awesome though Prediction: This is got to be the hardest matchup for this group… but I think WWWHR will take it. 5) North American For Life (11-7 --- Ranked #36) vs The Future is X-Rated (17-6 --- Ranked #9) ---“North American For Life” edged out “Little Terror” with an 11-7 win. ---“The Future is X-Rated” knocked off “My Life as a Circus Clown” with a 20-3 demolishing. My Pick: The Future is X-Rated… although both songs are rockin’ good Prediction: Future is X-Rated should take it. 6) Advertising on Police Cars (14-7 --- Ranked #27) vs Under The Influence (15-8 --- Ranked #28) ---“Advertising on Police Cars” enters round 2 after beating “Let’s Get It On” 14-7. ---“Under The Influence” is taking the momentum from a 15-8 win over “Alabama Motel Room” My Pick: Advertising on Police Cars.. it’s got to be one of the top 3 songs ever. Prediction: Advertising on Police Cars should get the win.. and move up in the standings.. #27 is low low low for this song. Come back on Fri October 1 2004 for this group’s results, and the first group of matchups for ROUND THREE!!!!.

Both of you basically epitomized my exact feelings about Matt. (I was just lucky enough to talk to him once.) But you're absolutely right, Matt is so full of compassions, I dont think we can classify him as a musician.. I like to think of him as one of those best friends you always have (who just happens to have a band). You may not get to see him every day.. or every month or whatnot, but whenever something happens, he's always there. Like guitarchick said, if it werent for him, I wouldn't be here.. it's so true. The things his music does is amazing, and you know what.. who the hell cares if all the 12 year olds dont admire him, or if muchmusic chooses to play the sexfilled videos rather than Matt's thought provoking ones.. as long as we have him.. we're the lucky ones.

wait a minute.. theres a loop?!?!? why am i not in it!!!! ohh and reliance was played live back in the day or so i was informed.
-
this is totally unrelated.. but i love the avatar pic that lauren has.. cracks me up everytime i see it.. hahaha

2nd Favorite Band Ever
NationofCool replied to zenkey's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
Alexisonfire... or old OLP.. or Moist.. its too close. -
If you know anyone who has not yet voted, ask them what POSSIBLE reason they have for not voting.. hehe.. and no "I was abducted by space monkeys is not good enough.. becuase those monkeys would still have internet!* I just do not want to eliminate Everything is Automatic or Born To Kill via a tiebreak. After the first round, we end up with some tougher battles, so to be kind to both songs, I'd prefer having another voter break the tie, rather than going by something based on luck. Cheers!

least favourite matt good songs
NationofCool replied to Devil On Rollerskates's topic in Matthew Good
hmm i guess its easier to go by albums: LOTGA - Fearless Raygun - So Long Mrs Smith Underdogs - Invasion 1 and Middle Class Gangsters Beautiful Midnight - Jenni's Song Loser Anthems - Man From Harold Wood Audio of Being - Rat Who Would Be King Avalanche - Double Life, Song For The Girl, House of Smoke and Mirrors WLRRR - Poor Man's Grey, Blue Skies Over Badlands -
I dunno.. i think the differences between Dave and Matt's perspectives gave MGB a very wide range of sounds, whereas now a lot of the Matt Good songs are similar.. like its easy to tell which song goes where.. but during MGB.. it wasnt as easy because the songs were so different.. not saying that the songs werenecessarily better.. but i like having the larger range of song sounds.
