  1. Come out and play. Actually it's kinda cool, some of the shows Matt has opened with songs consisting of him starting on just an accoustic (empty's, silent army) So it's dark with just the sound of Matt playing acoustic, then a spotlight hits just him, after a few minutes the band joins in it's really a cool effect. Also at the end of the show, either the last song of the main set or the last encore e has been ending in reverse. So the band stops and the lights go down to just Matt playing solo in the spotlight which works great when he's done it with "weapon" and Empty's Theme Park.
  2. Definatly Suburbia I was in the front row and have it recorded. Also, I dunno if it was a last second decision or not as I didn't have a setlist, But during Weapon, Matt walked up to everyband member nad mouthed "automatic" which Weapon then seemless flowed into. Being up front is awesome, you catch so much more shit. By the way somebody did yell out Suburbia, followed by a request for WHite walls, Matt said that'd be interesting so at first I thought he was gonna play white walls, then he went into off key suburbia.
  3. Recordings exist. watch the lounge over the next week.
  4. 1. Last Parade 2. Sort of a Protest Song 3. While We Were Hunting Rabbits 4. Going all the Way 5. Volcanoes 6. Empty Road 7. Load Me Up 8. Great Whales of the Sea 9. Silent Army in the Trees
  5. I think this was it, may have a couple middle songs in wrong order Empty's Theme Park Boy Who Could explode Fought to Fight it Born Losers Great Whales Volcanoes Load Me Up (extended jam with "man on the Moon") Alert Status Red Last Parade Apparitions Weapon Silent Army I'm a Window This show was a little shorter than the Duncan and Nanaimo shows. It clocked in at 1 hour 27 minutes. Not as much banter as Duncan and not as many songs as Nanaimo.
  6. Yes Empty's is electric, Matt just plays an acoustic on it Stu is going all electric for it. The setlist for Duncan is bang on. The song Matt was going to play in the encore instead of Fought To Fight it was "champions of Nothing" he started the first verse decided he was playing it too fast then said "fuck it I don't want to play this song, get me a Fendere Telecaster."
  7. Just chiming in on the show now. Firstly I'd like to say what an energetic show. The band really seemed to be getting off on playing with one another and were into it all night. I thought most of the Vancouver songs sounded awesome live, although from where I was sitting sometimes the vocals were slightly low in the mix. As for the setlist comment I thought a couple of comparisons could be used from my own experience. I last saw Matt Good at the exact same venue in late June of 2008. The overlapped songs from that show to this show were 5. So in other words I heard 10 different songs this show from the last just over a year ago. How many other bands who've been around for 15+ years show that much variety from tour to tour? Granted 9 of those songs were from "Vancouver" Which I think is amazing, when an artist can feel strongly enough about new material that they don't feel the need to fall back onto older stuff as much. The fact that songs like "Hello Time Bomb" weren't played and the show still rocked are testament to the strength of the new material. As for set length at 15 songs it was a few songs less then the 2008 show, But it clocked in at 2 minutes longer in time, it's clearly do to so many of the lengthy new songs. "Empty's Theme Park" takes the place of 2-3 shorter songs, But to be honest I'd be pissed off if that got dropped, it was an absolute menace live with that middle section. All fans are always going to want long setlists that are entirerly different from night to night, But I still think this setlist is getting a bad rap, mostly from people who've yet to hear it live. I enjoyed this years show ten times more than last year, what it really comes down to I guess is your opinion on the Vancouver material, if you like it then the set will feel incredible. All that being said, I'd still absolutly love it if Matt strung up the acoustic for a couple song double encore. ;)

  10. I'm going to Nanaimo tomorrow, so I'll have a setlist from that show for sure. Hopefully someone can up the setlist though. On the last tour didn't they post them on Matt Good's site sometimes? Edit: Apparently Duane Storey has posted the setlist on his facebook page, I don't use facebook though, any chance someone can post it here?

    2009 Tour

I would love to see Matt swing back through Vancouver Island again. Last year he played Victoria and Nanaimo, the Victoria crowd seemed more into it, But the Port Theatre is a tough venue to really get into the music. This year I'd definatly go see him in Vancouver as well though, the more Matt the better. I think I paid about $30 dollars for tickets, which compared to some bands who want $150 plus is rediculous, Plus Matt switches sets every show, so you always get more than your moneys worth by attending multiple concerts.
  14. Did anyone manage to download these before they were taken off youtube. Other than the MMVA preformance of Load Me Up, I've never been able to find any other live footage of the Matthew Good Band.
  15. Does anybody remember the Victoria Setlist? I've been trying to piece it together, But I just can't remember. I know he started with "Giant" and that "Alert Status Red" and "Everything is Automatic" were played in addition to the ones that are the regulars, But I can't remember if there was anything else out of the ordinary or what order they were in. Any help would be really appreciated.
