I remember playing Yukon trail on an old crappy Mac in my school (pretty sure it wasn't Oregon trail). I have this weird fear of people born after the 80's. I was at work and was talking about 1996 and how that year stuck in my mind, i was in grade 5 lol and it's some of my earliest memories and being told by one of my co-workers that she was 5 in 1996 - i started to flip out lol. The 90's were the shit, i started using a computer, learned the basics of how to use the internet - it kick some ass. In terms of looking back, it does freak me out a bit that we're in 2007 but at the same time it feels like all of this was a natural progression. Flying cars seem like too big a leap in my mind and I dont know if i ever really thought they would become a reality.

Hmm i guess I don't have much in the way of focusing my mind, except that when I get stressed out I like to go for a run. In terms of getting my mind focused on something I need silence and time alone, just time in a room with silence to think. Also, coffee, or tea, something about this combination helps me think lol.

Yes you are. I also love the smell and taste of mary jane - but shisha is shisha!
-
Shisha and mary jane mixed together makes a blend of delicious intoxication you won't soon forget. SERIOUSLY Best experience of my life was getting reallly really high by mixing my weed with shisha tobacco and smoking it.. GOOD GOD i need to do that again.

Im Canadian & I Dont Like Beer, Skiing, Or Hockey
supercanuk replied to Moonlight_Graham's topic in Open Discussion
I'm Canadian, and im friendly, jovial, and love beer. Also, if you'd like to discuss hockey I'm more then willing, but I speak in full sentences, and I don't often use the phrase "eh". I also pronounce my words correctly like a normal human, so I don't say things like "aboot" i say, "about" in fact, the "aboot" is used in only rural areas of western Canada. Also, if anything, the U.S. does not pronounce "about" properly because they don't pronounce the "u" and often don't use the letter "u" in words. Example: "Colour" is not "Color" - and "Colin" is not said "Co-lin" as it is in SOME areas of the states. -
See Lauren! posting in the political section is not futile! Jesus Camp scared the life out of me.

You would have two. It's far better than Safari in my opinion, but i really like Firefox in general. Even when I used a PC (I have an iMac now) i used Firefox. I highly recommend it.

Canadian Activists Catch Police Dirty Tricks On Vi
supercanuk replied to supercanuk's topic in Politics and Debate: WRONG!
Well the SQ has admitted that the three were there cops, and if your pushing and shoving people and brandishing a rock (also a beer bottle in your back pants) it might look as if your instigating violence. It's so not much entrapment as it would be inciting others to riot, other activists get charged for this by doing far lesser crimes. Obviously one cannot trick someone into rioting but if the police started a fight it would give the other cops an excuse to basically shut the protest down. To me its an infringement on the right to peacebly assemble, because if you are protesting peacefully which these protesters were, then there is no excuse for undercover police. If there were undercover police trying to stop people from rioting then yes thats acceptable but starting fights with union leaders? I think thats pushing it. Thanks for the comments though ;) -
Wondering what people think of the police tactics used and whether or not you have seen the YouTube Video?? Here is an article I just had published: The Security and Prosperity Partnership summit in Montebello Quebec was not your average event. In attendance were Prime Minister Steven Harper, George Bush, and Felipe Calder

Yah actually I should ask them, my girlfriends mother goes every tuesday to feed the homeless at the mission. I'll have to ask her. heyrabbit you make some valid points, of course each case is different and like I said not all homeless people are grade "A" people. And don't even get my started on how we exploit immigrant communities, although I see you already agree. Christing I didn't intend to make you feel like a ruthless bitch, if I in any way came across that way im sorry, sometimes the way I write things can sound really harsh. I have known a few homeless people, some of them whose family told them to get out, some of them women who ended up with asshole guys because they didn't really have anywhere to turn, and some whose families took them back in, thankfully. I agree that the issue is not black and white, and basically that is what i've been trying to argue. So no need to retort, we all disagree on some areas and agree on others, and right now its almost 1am and I am too tired to get into detail ;) Good talk folks

garks, in all fairness, have you ever tried to ask them if they want to be homeless? Things are not always the way they appear.
-
This is also true. I haven't touched on this point but it's important to note that a minimum wage in Canada actually is not a living wage, not for the homeless whose job options are limited to day labour (at best) because they need a phone to be contacted at, and they are contract so it's not full time in most cases. In general there has been a massive shift in our economy from good trade and skills jobs to service sector, part time, and contract, which provides for us a dim and scary future. If it continues we (as in our generation, Y generation) will see more hard times because we likely won't have the job stability our parents enjoyed.

thanks ;) We're lucky in Ottawa, there is a great food kitchen and a lot of my friends work with organizations feeding the homeless. Some of my friends feed the homeless at "the mission" downtown on a regular basis. There are a lot of people doing good good work but it's not really enough to get them back on their feet or help them with there addictions and issues. The John Howard society does it's best for those with criminal charges against them and who have hit bad times, same with the Elizabeth Fry society and a few other women's shelters. Unfortunately a lot of them are fleeing men who beat them, and the survival rate of women who go into shelters is incredibly low. In fact I went to a talk done by Jane Doe (the woman who successfully sued the Toronto police for using her as bait to catch a rapist) who said that nobody she personally knew who went to these shelters survived. All the men in their lives tracked them down and killed them. It's sickening to think of but the underbelly of a social system in shambles will do that to you. p.s. 1/3 women in their lifetimes will be sexually assaulted, 1/2 physically assaulted, usually from a male close in their family, the safety of women in our society is paramount, so don't tell me women's shelters are not in need of funding and protection. This same protection should be given to the homeless who are men as well, because they too are at high risk of assault and death.

lol probably. I remember this tall homeless woman came up to me once begging me for a bus ticket, she was freaking out. I think she was coming down on drugs or had a serious mental disability which made her think someone was chasing her. Either that, or somebody was really after her because she kept saying that, so I gave her a bus ticket. She was so thankful you'd think I gave her a car. It can mean a lot to homeless or mentally disabled people with the smallest kind gesture.
