You've jinxed us all ! Michael Jackson reported dead. ;)
-
I went around my friends house after school and when I was about to leave his mam told us about it. I remember getting up really early the day after Steve Irwin died so I read about it when it first started being reported on the internet. Remember being told about Princess Diana's death when I woke up. All pretty useless memories really, I mean, they're not even interesting.

So This Whole Iran Thing Is Starting To Bother Me.
LonelyWreckage replied to ok_go_570's topic in Politics and Debate: WRONG!
Well that video is pretty horrific. I don't blame you really, I think we're - or at least I am - too used to seeing this kind of tragedy, which gradually becomes more and more acceptable until you're just left with "meh". We've started a tit-for-tat expulsion of diplomats with Iran, which is always good. -
"Apparently the 18th century polymath Thomas Young was the last person to have read all the books published in his lifetime - that means he would've read all the Shakespeare, and all the Greek and Roman classics, and all the theology and all the philosophy and all the science. But the same man today - a man who'd read all the books to date - would have had to have read all Dan Brown's novels, two volumes of Chris Moyles' autobiography, The World According to Clarkson by Jeremy Clarkson, The World According to Clarkson 2 by Jeremy Clarkson, The World According to Clarkson 3 by Jeremy Clarkson - his mind would be awash with bad metaphors and unsustainable reactionary opinion, one long anecdote about the time Comedy Dave put pound coins in the urinal; in short, the man who'd read everything published to date would be more stupid than a man who'd read nothing." ~ Stewart Lee.

Yeah, I was delighted - but pretty surprised - to see you were writing for the Guardian. I read your article on the Olympics, where it's easy to sympathise (as we're facing pretty much the exact same issues in spending billions on something only a minority want that could be far better spent on one of the many failings in Britain today, that actually affect everyone) and yet even there you can witness personal attacks on Matt.

BBC Radio One: offering you non-stop shite on a daily basis. -
I wasn't convinced enough to download it after watching a BBC Click review, but I'm open to changing my mind. IIRC one of it's biggest offerings was a homepage that has all your bookmarks tiled in it, like a multiscreen thing.

The Top 50 Text Acronyms Parents Need To Know

To be honest I've never really thought about it until now. It's inspired me to do a Google where I stumbled across this - a poll regarding each swear word's severity. Notice cock isn't even mentioned, although the BBC list cocksucker as "extremely offensive" : As if "********" was #11 in 1998, when "bollocks" was #6 ?!? Mental. -

See, I'm not sure there's much consistency with our censorship. I think it's just left down to the editor's discretion, so the amount of bleeping is dependent on the programme. That link I posted is a prime example - bleepings of "fucking", yet you can see Jonathan Woss say that on his popular chat show occasionally - without it being bleeped. But as a rule if it's 9PM or later they're allowed to get away with pretty much unrestricted language. Charlie Brooker's bleeping is apparently done voluntarily according to one of his 'tweets'. -

What makes you think that like ? As far as I'm aware they're both allowed post-watershed, and neither allowed before. 3:01 for example. -
