Fearless and Under the Influence are good shouts. I think most of Underdogs is underrated. It seems to be constantly derided - something I see as totally unwarranted.

I tend to think of his vocals in 1997 as a 'resurgance' - by 1996 he'd started go all snarly/whiney almost so it was nice to hear him back to singing again. As a rule though I think his vocals were going downhill from day one. If you listen to some of the DM demos/'93 BBC Radio 1 session/Gleneagles performance, he sounds comparatively angelic. By late '95 he'd lost his ability to hit the high notes consistently and I think his previously described '96 vocals were an attempt to compensate for that. '97 he was playing to his abilities and by 1998 he'd started turning shite. ;) Anyway, wasn't this about Blur ?!... lol

The Bluetones -
Both the G-mex and Knebworth gigs are in circulation though (pro-shot, at that), so what'd be the point ? If we're just hoping for a hypothetical live DVD, then I'd enjoy anything from the Definitely Maybe tour or the Be Here Now tour that we haven't seen. My ideal Oasis live performance has already been answered by Live By the Sea, really - largely DM setlist with some WTSMG being debuted, being sung by Liam (as apposed to snarling ('96)/shouting (2000 onwards). I agree the backstage/on the road type of DVD should've really been done for Oasis at their peak - 95-97.

Know Any Good Dvd-rs Burning Program?
LonelyWreckage replied to sodamntired's topic in Tech Section: A Hard Drive at Risk
Only downloaded that aviDemux a few days ago, precisely for it's subtitle capabilities. Worked a treat. Innit. Look ! Here's another thing we can do: marvel at our amazing converter - it'll convert all your files and then burn them straight to disc ! What, it's totally out of sync and you've just wasted a disc ? Err... *walks away sheepishly* -

The Gun Lobby Proposes To Equip Students
LonelyWreckage replied to a topic in Politics and Debate: WRONG!
Which then speaks wonders for the gun control, doesn't it - given the UK comes 17th in the world for murders per capita beating many EU countries, with a murder rate of 0.014 per 1,000 compared to the USA's #39 0.042 per 1,000. I'd venture to suggest we have the highest rate of violent crime in the EU because socially - like the USA - we've went for uncontested neoliberalism as apposed to "Euro-socialism" since the 70's and as such have an extremely unequal society with slums that are ripe for crime. Guns definitely don't equal crime, they just help it. I didn't think anyone was suggesting that, though ? I know I agreed with someone earlier who basically pointed out these attacks will still exist, I'm just happy knowing they'll be far less deadly and easier to carry out - and I'm in no small majority, thankfully. -
So wrong it's hard to read.

Honestly, I think SDT lives in a perpetual state of reminiscing. I don't mind a bit of nostalgia myself, but at this stage it's concerning - it's like someone who's in his last week alive. Anyway, here's the memorable moments from 2009 for me - probably forgotten tonnes of important things: -UK's further decline into recession -Obama inaugarated -Death of Jade Goody -G20 protests -Large Hadron Collider -England qualify with two games to spare in the World Cup -UK swings to the right politically, far-right in some areas -Russell Brand/Jonathan Ross fiasco -Parliament expenses scandal -Amstell leaves Never Mind the Buzzcocks -Swine flu -Michael Jackson's death -Cumbria flooding -Corus plant closed down

;) An edited version of that was shown on last week's Have I Got News for You. Edit: actually, here it is:

I've never heard of the case, but if that's the case, anorexia is still an illness. Fair enough, I agree with her being turned off, but only because it's (apparently) a lost cause, and not in reaction to her getting herself there - that seems a bit heartless to me. We had a prominant right-to-life case last month. The father was fighting the mother and the hospital to keep a severely disabled 1 year old on life-support. It went to court and after hearing from doctors' predictions of what would lie in wait for the baby, who had an incredibly rare condition (can't remember what it was) and was paralysed from head to foot, he agreed to have it turned off. I could sympathise, but it was obvious that his grief was clouding his judgement on this, and he was unable to accept his son had zero quality of life. On a side note, I'm glad he quickly seen reason because our criminally under-funded NHS really can't afford to be treating someone indefinitely.

Liberals protest against abortion ? People who watch Fox News are obviously going to have their views of America distorted unfavourably. Not even Ireland have an Irish Republican Army anymore, to be fair - though you have my sympathies. ;)
