  1. Buffalo Seven most def... though does anyone know what a "Buffalo Seven is"?
  2. Maybe this is intentional. After all, it the fabric is see-through, you might be able to see the contents beneath the surface of the shirt. Nah.
  3. Failing the Roschach Test for me. Oh and While We Were Hunting Rabbits. Both have this sense of wanting to be something great but afraid of falling short of it... "mother told me to be something so i'm afraid enough to stay wide awake" "And I'm a monkey in a long line of kings"
  4. Back in the day, the American version of the Beautiful Midnight CD could take you to a site where you could see the video for Hello Time Bomb. Alas, I just popped the CD into my computer and it looks like that function has expired. Does anyone know if the video is mirrored online anywhere? Thanks, Joe
  5. Beautiful Midnight all the way... that eerie highway photo just made me tingle as I broke open my first MGB CD.
  6. Lol, everyone just bragging...
  7. I really really recommend both The Unbearable Lightness of Being--which is one of Matt's favorite books by the way, I remember seeing this on one of his old message boards--and Everything is Illuminated. Both books just blow me away.
  8. Last album... that would be WLRRR. Go figure.
  9. Uncle Rico was definitely my favorite character... kind of reminds me of the Rico from Matt Good come to think of it.
  10. Hey guys, I recently inherited an old guitar of my father's and wanted to start learning how to play. Can anyone refer me to some guitar tabs for MG songs and recommend which ones are simple enough for a newbie to play? Thanks, Joe
  11. I think there are some really strong songs on AOB... Actually, I think the whole entire record is just powerfully depressing. And think about the title for a second... If the songs are the record are the "Audio of Being," maybe better stated the music of life, then the record reflects a very bleak vision of what it means to be alive. But I still love the record. It was the album that got me into Matthew Good.
  12. "Someone around the world would like to have my first world problems..." Omissions of the Omen all the way.
  13. I think "A Long Way Down" would have been an excellent video/single. Short enought too.
  14. I'm really curious as to how the video is going to turned out. While I like the "It's been a while...," it's one of Matt's simplest songs----dare I even say sappiest? Joe
  15. I don't believe that Bush lead the country into war with Iraq for economic reasons. I haven't read the original posters links (and I don't really have the time to do so), but I believe that Bush and company had always planned on invading Iraq and they believed it was the moral compelling thing to do: they needed to carve a niche of democracy into the Middle East and then they hoped that the experiment would spread thoughout the region. Unfortunately, their strategy is ideological and I believe they choice faith in their idea rather than in the facts presenting them. That Iraq could produce WMD's and could collaborate with Al Qaeda and others may have been a fiction, but it fit in with their ideology nicely.
  16. Put me down as another clueless loser who doesn't know what the Hub is... can someone fill us in? Thanks, Joe
  17. Hey, I just saw Garden State last Saturday and was blown away. It's messy and honest and the kind of thing I would like to write myself. Plus, it's so refreshing to see Natalie Portman inside of a role where she can actually act (as opposed to Star Wars, where she pretty much just... I don't know, but it makes me very mad). Anyone else have any thoughts? Thanks, Joe
  18. One of my new favorite videos has to be Coldplay's "The Scientist." It's such a powerful song, and though the going backwards effect wears a little old, it doesn't fail to make you thoughtful and surprise you. Joe
  19. It's funny how powerful the imperfect stuff is. I think two of the most potent MG songs are "The Fine Art of Falling Apart," and "Can't Get Shot in the Back if You Don't Run," both done in one swift turn. Joe
  20. I totally thought it was "taco bell shoes" on Avalanche as well. Blew my mind, it was like MG was referencing Tom DeLillo's White Noise.
  21. Definitely can't get shot in the back if you don't run. Would definitely like to hear the AOB b-sides though to see if my mind would change. Everyone else here rates them highly.
  22. Definitely "Load Me Up." I totally dig that soccer scene. But I hate hate hate that last couple of seconds where the girl enters the scene with the knife behind her back. --Joe
  23. Hey guys, I was wondering if we could start a thread here where we each could post our favorite opening lines to songs. Actually, this might just be an opportunity for me to recommend my second favorite band, matt pond PA. From their song "the hollows": "Erasers Impress me everyday They have a way Of forgetting easily" Actually, you can download the song (legally) from here.
  24. Hey folks, I was just wondering if the B-sides for Audio of Being were any good. The B-Sides tend to be some of my favorite stuff Matt does (darn, I wish "Can't Get Shot in the Back if You Don't Run" was available for download like some other sites promised it would be). Also, what is the legality of B-sides. If Matt released them for download for one point off his web site, does that mean that they can be freely distributed after they've been taken off the site? Thanks, Joe
