Oh yeah, it'll be great to see this video. I still remember the Born Losers contest and how many were submitted for it... that was great. As a side to the song, I was recording some stuff on garageband the other night and I think I came across the intro part to Great Whales... I was like shit, did I just find it?

I was back and forth about this, but given the good reviews, I think I might check it out. I got a little too into the Kill Bill stuff and I felt like I had a little overkill with Q

I love it how he constantly writes... one of the truly great things about him.

I wish I had the link for this, but I read/saw video of him describing that time period as one where certain people were more concerned about songwriting royalties and such, more than anything else, and I think the band had become more of a business to some. I'm paraphrasing here, really. I know he also mentioned writing the majority of the album in a hotel/motel and spending most of that time throwing up and barely keeping anything down, so I guess the album as a whole might trigger some bad memories, between that and the band falling apart and such, even though there wound up being some truly great songs on it, such as Police Cars, Tripoli, Carmelina, Protest Song, etc. Anti-Pop was always funny to me because it was almost like his middle finger, if you will, to labels wanting these hit songs on albums, and I think he did a great job of intentionally writing such a poppy song, if you will. It is a catchy song though. I just looked at a wiki page for AOB: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Audio_of_Being Not sure how accurate any of those quotes are, especially the one at the bottom regarding Anti-Pop. I also don't remember him ever playing Anti-Pop live, but I could be wrong. I just checked youtube and couldn't find anything. In the end, it's a great album, but there seems to be some stories behind/around it for sure.

A Nashville show would be unbelievable. I'm 20 minutes away. Either way, having you come this far south is great.

I remember Matt mentioning a video would be done, due to the directors love for the song, but it probably wouldn't be a single.

I'll be going to that Memphis one for sure. Too bad he couldn't swing a Nashville or Atlanta show, but to be able to see him down here is gonna be great.

I keep thinking it'll either be Volcanoes or Fought To Fight It, but I'm leaning towards the former. I could be wrong, but it's been fun to try and guess. I think the entire album is gonna be great.

I remember when I kept hearing Everything Is Automatic on 102.1 the edge in toronto in 1997, but they'd never say who the band was until 2-3 songs later, and I'd have been at work and such by then. I always seemed to keep missing the name of the band and I finally found out it was MGB after like 4-5 times hearing it. I should've just gone online back then and searched, but such is hindsight. To this day, through all the albums and such, it's still one of my favorite songs of his.

it's a hard album to listen to....makes me appreciate Pinkerton that much more.
