Who's the best live band?
spiritofeden replied to Kumquat's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
do you enjoy watching a band hide behind their instruments while playing music exactly like it is on the CD???? i would have the say RHCP were the worst band live and biggest disappointment in ym life. Preach on... especially after the spectacular show the stone temple pilots ha put on it was even that much more dissapointing. the show from the molson ampitheatre??? STP was one of the best performancecs ever that night. Who else could get people from the lawn to rush the stage. While i am on the Ampitheatre, i wouls also like to express my disappointment for this summers Curiosia festival. The main satge had Interpol and a bunch of mediocore bands. The side stage was awesome though, Muse great show, Auf Der Mar Great show.... your a wanker, because Interpol, Mogwai, and The Rapture owned the festival. Muse are shite, get over it. -

Well just about any band can get on stage and perform their songs, but in that case the audience may as well just stay home and listen to the album on their stereo. A good spectacle adds another dimension to the performance, makes it into a real show. if i want a spectacle, I will go to the circus. I go to a concert to hear musicians play their songs, not light things on fire, and spray fake cum everywhere. but iam old fashioned -

those are easily 2 of the most OVER rated live bands I've ever seen. The last time i saw RHCP, i went to see the Mars Volta and Queens of the Stone Age open. Kedis had to go off stage every few songs for an OXYGEN MASK. In my mind, thats when its time to pack it in, and call it a day. as for the BEST live bands I've ever seen, I would have to say. Radiohead Sigur Ros Wilco Blur The Cure Morrissey Green Day -

kurt is cool and all, im just kinda surprised to see him on a greatest songwriters of all time list <shrug> (theres no s on the end of homme, silly) I like the cut of your jib, and agree with you on Mr.Cobain. I would also like to add Lou Reed and David Bowie to my list. what was i thinking? as for Steve Jones. He played power chords, and essentially just elaborated on what The Ramones and New York Dolls were doing. If I were to include the Pistols in my list, its would be Mr. Rotton, not Mr. Jones.
