He mentioned in the radio premiere for White Light Rock & Roll Review that he initially planned to write another book but instead wrote a screenplay. I wonder whether the "Dear San Diego" material may be somehow tied to that concept (because I remain thoroughly interested in what an MG screenplay/film would be like!).

Warne's website mentions his "upcoming projects" as Rally Car and Mark Hildreth (though that info doesn't appear to have been updated in at least the last two months). This is just idle speculation on my part, but maybe he feels that he really needs to focus on his own studio, the Command Centre, that opened in Victoria last November. Or as mentioned above, it could just be a scheduling conflict. Either way, I'm still hopeful that the recording sessions will produce great results.

The Killers New Album
gorram_feds replied to ham_ahoy's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
To quote one of my instructors: "Aaahh, The Killers: so boring!" -
Good question ;) ...but Angel already covered that in the episode where the gang attend a ballet show, so maybe they could try simple watercolours or perhaps some crude frescos.

As much as I love both Firefly and Angel, I think that neither one necessarily needs a continuation in any medium. Regardless of poor box office results, Serenity does offer effective closure for Firefly and as for Angel, well, I absolutely love the final episode and am quite comfortable with its open-ended conclusion - it reaffirms the show's mission statement in spectacular fashion. However, I will add to the list a television show that was cut down far too early and had plenty more to say: Wonderfalls All 13 episodes shot are available on DVD, naturally, but only 4 were ever aired...on FOX, hence the low name-recognition. Also, if all that you've ever heard about the show is 'inaminate objects talk to a young woman', trust me, it is not Joan of Arcadia version two.

The band didn't rehearse any new stuff during the soundcheck for the first show in Victoria (although that's not proof that they didn't do so elsewhere) - would've been extra special but the experience as it was was just perfect enough for me!

The song itself? - totally, it's fantastic. The shite video? - I've had bowel movements with more solid plots than that. (meant in the most respectful way, of course)

Hedley Guitarist Singing Change Of Season
gorram_feds replied to andielicious's topic in Matthew Good
A friend of mine (who's an opera singer) was recently on a cross-country flight back to Vancouver and Hedley's drummer happened to be sitting right next to him. Mike, bless his heart, had never heard of the band but was able to show the guy a few tricks on his laptop - specifically, how Excel is much more suited to doing one's personal finances and budgeting than MS Word. ;) An irrelevant detail perhaps but amusing nonetheless. -
Good work on the new site design - "shiny" - as they say. No issues here (well, none related to my system's ability to this site at least).

I wonder where the recording is taking place; probably Warehouse or Greenhouse as it usually seems to be. By that list it looks as though they are kicking out the bed tracks like there's no tomorrow. Goddamn am I happy to see "Can't Get Shot..." still on that list! ;)

Oh yeah, there's no way he would be serious about recording & touring under that name. ;) It sure would suit a metal band; they wouldn't necessarily have to be from Iceland, just somewhere damn cold - maybe Yellowknife.

A friend of mine, when lending me his copy of The Audio of Being in an attempt to get me hooked on MG(b), told me that he'd read in some interview that Matt was asked if he would record and perform simply under his own name or start a new band with a different name. We've no idea if this is true or not but I personally think it would make for an awesome album title (and like cweb's idea, this would lend itself to so many excellent cover pictures). The name he supposedly gave was "SNOW AXE."

New Movies That Look Interesting To Me

300 in IMAX has my current vote (assuming it actually gets on such a screen around here...fingers crossed!). -
Coachella
gorram_feds replied to uglybutterfly's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
I really like RATM and it's cool that they're reuniting for a show but I hope it doesn't continue beyond that show. I can tolerate Audioslave (to varying degrees) but Rage was rather disfunctional as a band and I wonder whether they would all be able to set aside their differences and focus on the job. Also, I think their moment has passed and dwelling on the past may prove pointless. -
Timbaland Has Let Us All Down
gorram_feds replied to Crusader's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
I personally find the song to be quite annoying (from the original, to the ringtone to this latest Nelly Furtado joint) but that's beside the point. It's plagarism and copytight infringement, pure and simple. I find it especially telling that, according to the original linked site, the actual songwriters feel powerless to mount a legal challenge as they simply can't afford it. Says a lot about citizens' access to the justice system, doesn't it? -
Does This Website.....
gorram_feds replied to sodamntired's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
Yes, most definitely a Canadian thing (and a rather apt description of Serial Joe, congrats ;) ). -
Designate, I highly agree. I'm a big fan of Christopher Nolan and the two principal actors so I suppose that I was naturally inclined to enjoy the film. That said, I also quite like Edward Norton and Rufus Sewell (who played the prince in The Illusionist) and I was dissapointed to see Edward Norton playing so badly a rather dull character to begin with. Rufus Sewell was criminally underused (though nonetheless awesome) but I found myself unmoved by the story or any of the other characters. I wanted to enjoy it, but ultimately didn't. Though the two "magician movies" are really nothing alike, only one of them is on my 'to watch again' list.

nice Memento tribute with that second one.

It's not too late (though this reply of mine just might be...)! According to the Georgia Straight's website, the film is still playing until at least this Thursday night at the Granville 7 theatre (perhaps not ideal, sure, but better than nothing). The current listed showtimes are 1:35, 4:15, 7:00 and 9:20. Give it a shot if your schedule permits, you won't be sorry!

Do You Still Watch The Simpsons?
gorram_feds replied to juniorspank's topic in Rentals, Television, and Readables
I think my old roommate (though still my best friend) helped diminish The Simpsons for me. For an entire summer I would hear Homer's increasingly annoying voice for over an hour and a half continuously, as it was in reruns on multiple channels. mself084, good call on "The Shinning"; that's my favourite Treehouse of Horrors, especially the line about the blood usually getting off the elevator on the second (?) floor ;) -
I always felt a strange affinity to Beaker, so my vote is with him and Dr. Bunsen Honeydew. Here's where my memory fails me - were the two of them included in the Christmas Special? I can't seem to find the tape anywhere ;)

Favorite Ytv Program?
gorram_feds replied to sodamntired's topic in Rentals, Television, and Readables
Favourite YTV show, hmmm...if Space Cases (with the now-so-very-lovely Jewel Staite) wasn't on The Family Channel I would go with that one; looks like it will have to be Reboot!
