  1. Jeeessus, it's gone already?
  2. White Album.. no other album in rock sounds as beautiful (except maybe Loveless.. but that transcends rock). Tough AND melancholic. Amazing songwriting.. the fact that it goes from Julia, to Helter Skelter, to Piggies, to Honey Pie.. crazy.
  3. Honestly, if Bad Pennies had better lyrics and was sung a little cleaner, it could be a single. I wish he hadn't written it off so quickly, it's catchier than Fought To Fight it. and "Love, It'll Fuck you up!" is pretty awesome.
  4. I like it a lot. Put this on the record too.. !
  5. Um, I just read the rules regarding the new demos. My apologies for asking for them. Please disregard that.
  6. Honestly, I'd love it if he just released the album with those 8 songs.. in the fall. It doesn't sound like a summer record. Plus, the songs are so dark and long.. a succinct tracklist like that would really make an impact. Also.. if anyone has a link to download these demos.. I'd.. uh.. love that.
  7. Listening to them gives me the same feeling as hearing Beautiful Midnight. If he pulls this record off, with that kind of harder edge-symphonic sound, it will be like a summation of the Matthew Good band and his solo work. It's dark, and it rocks. I'm so pumped.. and I don't even have them all.
  8. The guitar solo is really cool. I wish Matt would be a little more scrappy like that, all the time. Other then that, it just feels like Matt Good. He's kind of been doing the same thing now for a while. I usually like it but I want something different.
  9. If you'd be so generous! My ipod is a completist, what can I say.
  10. I like some of the harmonies, but overall this just feels like a pastiche of a bunch of his older songs. Matt: more harmonies- they be delicious.
  11. Would somebody be able to send it to me as well?? I've been internet-less the past week and I missed out! Argh!
  12. Anyone?! I'll send the link to other interested parties if I get it!
  13. Ohh I hate to do this again.. but could someone send me the song?? Thank you!!
  14. Ugh, I've gotta ask again. Could someone send me a copy? I have Audacity, but I am apparently technically retarded and couldn't get it to record.
  15. Holy shit, between this and The Boy Who Could Explode I'd swear this was the new MGB record. I'm totally not complaining. Sounds great!! Edited to add- if Matt reads this, fuck going into a studio! Record 8 more demos, and put a 10 track album up on itunes. You'll get my 10 dollars! I'm loving the bass driven sound. More! More!!
  16. Would someone be able to send it to me as well? Thank you!!
  17. This is the best thing I've heard from Matt Good in ages.. very good!! I hope he keeps it exactly as it is.
  18. Well, in my defense, I love Weapon and that isn't a conventional song by the standards you describe. What it comes down to for me is, the melodies aren't interesting enough to engage me on most of the songs.
  19. I see what you're saying in a way. Still, I don't see how being musically interesting is synonymous with 'selling out' or whatever. What I mean by stock is uninspired. As great as a lot of the songs on this record are lyrically, they bore me musically. I don't mean they all have to be up beat though. I really like Elliott Smith, and he frequently coupled great words with musically interesting progressions or what have you. He certainly couldn't be described as upbeat, and he pulled it off. I think Matt can pull it off too, but I wish he'd challenge himself. Like, the F-AM (or whatever it is) in Champions of Nothing for 10 minutes doesn't do a thing for me, no matter what he's saying. I'd rather read it as poetry.
  20. I kind of like it. I think lyrically it's pretty great, but musically it's uninteresting. Which Matt has bordered on for awhile anyway. I wish he would challenge himself musically, I find a lot of the melodies just sound like stock Matt Good. Edited to add there are certain exceptions. Born Losers and Devils In The Details are a bit more engaging then some of the others. I'm A Window as well.
  21. Ones that weren't included on In A Coma. 01) If I Was A Tidal Wave 02) Seriously, Serious 03) Agoraphobe 04) Dusk 05) Can't Get Shot In The Back 06) Annabelle 07) Comfortable Criminals 08) Near Fantastica (acoustic) 09) All Together Am I missing anything?? Oh, well, I suppose all of the demos that predate MGB.
  22. I like this song more than She's In It For The Money. It is pretty Coldplay though. I think it's lyrically far better then that band though. I also am a big fan of the harmonies at the end of the song. It's pretty melodically unassuming but one you get a hold of it, it's pretty good.
  23. Well it doesn't really matter if it's two discs or not. Sloan essentially put out a double record, on a single cd. 70 plus minutes of music, 30 tracks.
  24. Do it at home, in his apartment. Basically like the last half of the Loser Anthems EP, or Dusk/Can't Get Shot In The Back. Short songs, long songs.. whatever. Do it in one take and be done with it!
