  1. anything root beer flavoured that isn't root beer is gross. except those gummies. my fav popsicles are 1) banana 2) peach 3) white and red tie 4) blue. the rest can die.
  2. please try to come close to staying on topic. this is about popsicles, not you moving to a different country to take advantage of all its amazingness. i vote cherry. i hate the orange and grape ones. well, hate is a bit strong but i'd just as soon not have an orange or grape one at all, unless it was really hot out.
  3. i think its all things social in terms of weddings. ceremonies, receptions, bachelor/ette parties etc. the point is that chris has no friends, let alone friends that are decent enough to find mates AND to invite them to their wedding socials. which i would agree with, from what info the internets can give me. if talking to a barista makes you nervous or excited, then you are saying the wrong things. all she wants to know is what size of coffee you'd like. maybe what blend, depending on the quality of the shop.
  4. i vote to merge the threads or delete this one.
  5. to make the ignore feature ignore you entirely, not just give me the option to ignore you. otherwise it would be exactly what professor xavier has. i think i can get pretty much anything i want with that. i may not being able to fly, but i can mind trick someone into giving me full privileges to their private jet.
  6. will wars and poverty start up again? because if a person unknown to the world sacrificed themselves to make everything better, than did anyone learn anything? won't people go back and make the exact same mistakes?
  7. but enough not to invite him out.
  8. our immigration system is point-based, which a lot of people hate but i kinda don't because i'd rather not let just anyone in. you get points for your level of educaton, income, marital status (though i don't know if its better to be married or not), religious beliefs, all that good stuff. as long as you are flexible and have the good qualities like education etc. you'll be set. which it seems you are. apparently all you have to do is join your national army, change your mind and move to canada. pretty awesome! but please don't steal my healthcare. i (will) pay a lot in taxes and our healthcare system is already falling behind as it is.
  9. lame > easy. thread closed.
  10. this attitude drives me crazy. just fucking do it! putting through a fax for someone in the 'wrong' department is not like asking a barista to do open heart surgery. this happens to me every now and then at work and it makes me want to scream. i do things all the time that aren't in my job description, but i know i'm helping someone out and i doubt that goes unnoticed. i want to find and take a class on being more ambitious/aggressive at work. i have a co-worker that has 1 month seniority on me and the managers love her. everyone else finds her two-faced and anal. she's been at her second job for 4 or 5 months and has been promoted to key holder/schedule maker. how do i do this?! the only things she has over me from what i can see are negative things, like when she forces her way into managers personal conversations, minor bullying and back stabbing. i get complimented almost daily about my customer service skills and/or my multi-tasking skills. i'm already at the top rung, as far as my ladder is concerned and i won't be doing the grocery store thing for too much longer but i feel like this is something that will always be a problem unless i fix it now. i have been asking for more supervisor shifts and other forms of responsibility, but i feel like she gives me what i get only because i'm what is available. advice? can i be a mover and shaker without compromising my values?
  11. thats what i wondered. then he started talking about other conservative policies and his understanding of neo-liberalism and how its great for socialist canada. i don't think some people listen to their own thoughts, they just talk. all the shit thats happened on wall street.. thats what happens when money is involved. if that money is involved in an essential service, its only a matter of time before the money becomes an issue. tax us proportionately and make socialized services that everyone will use at one point or another. stick to budgets and voila! your government and society runs itself.
  12. if a rain powered golf cart could be invented, i would definitely travel to drought stricken parts of the world (too lazy to walk everywhere). or price my services correctly and just walk from one suburban lawn to another at a cost.
  13. they don't want anything in the grocery store cashier industry. you don't have to look normal or be smart. just stay at one store long enough and you're sure to be manager one day.
  14. i was discussing the cost of the whole thing with a conservative co-worker. he said these things are much easier in most other countries because they have armed force bases everywhere so its easy to locate the conferences closer to 'free' security. i asked why we didn't have the conference in borden or something, and he said that the chinese were too conservative for it. this is all bullshit. the government is ignoring how canadians want their money spent and when we go to tell them how they got it wrong, a few dumbasses take it out of hand, forcing our right to protest to be ignored for our right to not have the financial district get all fucked up. i watched a documentary, berekley in the sixties, a few years ago and one former protester said something like, we wanted the cost of going to vietnam to be complete domestic disobedience. i don't think he meant like this though.
  15. but anyone that wants to be within half a mile of you needs to get their raincoat on. you can't feed your own child unless someone is standing beside you with an umbrella. buddy over their gets to live a perfectly good life, sans their index finger.
  16. 2 weeks later, your friend gets hit by a car and dies. you're still under the raincloud. you lose touch with your friend, they get cancer, they become addicted to drugs, blah blah blah unfortunate circumstance. the whole proposed situation is a misfortune.
  17. i put an ad on kijiji ottawa to be a volunteer dogwalker to get myself out of the house and moving. no one has replied, which isn't surprising because of recent dog thefts (who steals other peoples' dogs?). i got an email today from some jackass who only wrote, why don't you get a job? the thread title reminded me of this. fucking asshole, mind your own business.
  18. this is what i'm saying. i know too many people with too little education in great jobs to truly believe that effort/grades is where its at. it will help a lot of the time in many places, but if you really mean it and you want that job, the guy with the 4.0 over your 3.0 is still lacking. dummies are dummies, no matter how they do in school. i have reference upon reference at my fingertips because my teachers truly like me. going for coffee or beers or personal conversations during office hours will stay with a prof longer than that jimmy guy who came to class everyday and did well but gave little to no personality. i got an a last semester not because i did super well or because i worked super hard but because she liked me, knew my potential and knows i have a lot to offer.
  19. i wouldn't stop the bear. i need the sun or i'd just end up killing myself and if its my life or one other persons, then i'm keeping mine.
  20. time after time you insult me by implying i said something stupid that i by no means said. here's a direct quote made by myself "you love getting good grades and you think that means a lot. and it does, but it doesn't mean everything." no where did i say grades aren't important, and that graduating by the seat of your pants is a good idea. obviously try to get the best grades you can, by putting in as much effort as required/you can summon. i'm just saying that its not such a big deal that you should give up years of happiness for.
  21. theres no doubt that in a world of growing credentialism, some employers are going to have to sift through candidates by looking strictly at their numbers before offering interviews but those employers may not need creativity or thinking outside the box and shouldn't be surprised when they get that in low amounts. save for a few fields where you simply cannot be wrong, most employers would rather hire an employee who can think for themselves in a dynamic way than someone who gets lost because the problem won't fit into the formula. my happy thing is that this months vogue came in the mail today!
  22. no one ever said you were a screw up but from what you post here, you are head over heels about to get married and then your girlfriends babydaddy has a shitfit and you give up. i'm glad you've gone on to be happy though. but please please PLEASE do not refer to her as a sexy/naughty/whatever teacher. she is a woman in a respectable profession, not a porno stereotype. as for the low traffic, theres just not much pulling me here anymore. i realize that the only way to improve that is to come here more and hope others do the same, but i was kinda slowly not coming here anyway.
  23. when faced with true love, its easier to bail and blame it on her kids.
  24. commitment problems
  25. can you donate online without a credit card/paypal account? if so, i can chip in next paycheck.
