  1. I don't know if music has this effect on any one else, but there are certain bits of songs that send shivers down my spine they're so good. Examples are 'The Scientist' by Coldplay and 'Robin Hood' by Ocean Colour Scene. It could be a particular lyric, the guitars or the way it's sung. The last 1min 20secs of 'Failing The Rorschach Test' had this effect on me last night, its the first time I'd really noticed it, but its amazing. It's the lyric, the way it goes in to that section of the song, and the way it's sung. Does any one else have any of these moments in relation to MG(B) songs
  2. Tripoli or Empty Road just because they're some of the few songs that send a shiver down my spine when I hear them
  3. 'Tripoli'. its my favourite song any way, but acoustic its just ace
  4. A fusion of the two would be nice, I always feel I can relate somewhat more to a more personal record than I can to a political one, but it is always interesting to hear his take on the current political climate
  5. I agree with what you say here, and i think that is what makes both albums work so well. Beautiful Midnight contains an excellent flow from beginning to end and thats brilliant if you're in that kind of mood. But for a more varied, random but altogether exciting mix of songs then AoB is probably better
  6. It all depends on what your definition of 'romantic' is. Some songs for me just have one line or a couple of words that trigger some sort of 'romantic' feeling inside me. Even the feel of some songs is romantic. Like 'Tripoli' for some reason just triggers a certain feeling inside me, I can't explain it, but it is romantic to me if I consider a certain interpretation of it. Could just be me!!
  7. Matt Good + Jeff Buckley
  8. I have to say I listen to Beautiful Midnight from beginning to end most times, but with Audio of Being I only ever listen to the first 3-4 songs. Having said that, 'Tripoli' is my favourite MGB song. Personally I do prefer BM, but there's no denying that both are great albums in their own right
  9. I'd get 'The Future is X-Rated'
  10. I think its unnecessary to have a vote on this, I mean of course we all feel bad to see someone we idolise going through such a rough time, but on the same token do we not all hope that he pulls through and continues creating great music (whether or not that is influenced by his present predicament)?
  11. Not necessarily 'naive' as such, I think it would be incorrect either way to assume that personal experiences have no influence on the music he creates or that they have an overwhelming influence. I think it is perfectly reasonable however to suggest that his current experiences will have some bearing on his future musical productions, whilst none of us wish it on him
  12. Matt Good + Raine Maida The stuff dreams are made of
  13. I too found this post somewhat disturbing. Just the whole comments off thing, but then again, we may all be reading too much into it
