It does seem obscenely high. I know it's apples and oranges in the USA vs Canada with MG but I saw him at Joe's Pub in NYC in 2013 and paid like $25. It couldn't have held more than 200 and was solo acoustic. Seems pricey to me. I'd rather see four full band shows.

Good show. Very talented band that sounded amazing. The venue was decent, weird layout with amazing acoustics. The crowd that surrounded me wasn't too damn good. I had the displeasure of sitting next to three obnoxious guys who were drunk as hell and talked through the set and were heckling the opener. I also was the lucky guy that had two girls (the only two in the area) that decided to stand and block everyone's view. After listening to people yell at them and tell them they were rude I had enough. I decided to go and sit in the back so I could enjoy the show. I'm very glad I got to see this tour but doubt I'd make the drive again. No offense to Hamilton because I know it's on the mend but it just wasn't a very attractive city. I'd rather drive the extra 45 minutes to Toronto. I can't say enough for how tight they sounded tonight. The Load Me Up into Carmalina is awesome. Now for the seven hour drive home....

Just arrived at our hotel in Ontario. Very excited for tomorrow's show!

Something For Matt For Those Going To The Toronto Shows
GuitarmanMCS replied to foats's topic in Matthew Good
I taped it. It was from WXPN's World Cafe Live in Philadelphia. If anyone needs a copy, PM me and I will try and help you out. It was a big file and I don't know if it would be worth it to upload it unless the demand is there. -
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I've done Toronto sightseeing but this will be my first official trip to Hamilton. Is Steam Whistle regularly available at distributors and what not in the Ontario area? I'm thinking of bringing a case back because I was impressed with it.

Hamilton, ON. I've never been there before except driving through. From what I've read there's not much to "see" there. I'm taking my wife on the trip so I'm hoping she will enjoy the show. She's only tagged along to the acoustic tour back in 2012, so this will be her first full band show and my second. This will be my first trip to see MG in Canada as I've seen him three times in the US. Looking forward to it. Hoping to check out some cool sites along the way. Maybe someone here knows a good brewery or two nearby? The only one I know of is Steam Whistle. I'm glad to hear the glowing reviews of this tour. I'd hate to drive eight hours and be disappointed.

Haha. This made me laugh at work today. I was hoping he wasnt doing coke! Especially since I have a 450 mile drive next week to catch his show.
-
I am still pretty excited for my first Canada MG show in Hamilton. Is there anything anyone knows of that I need to see there?
-
I was afraid someone would say that. I won't have a GPS (without big data fees) so I guess I will just hit the show and head back across the border. I wish I could catch the Toronto show but the wife's work schedule will not allow. Toronto is probably the nicest, friendliest and cleanest large city I have ever visited. I wish it was closer.

It's the album that got me into the MGB or MG in general. I was in an indie shop in Scranton, Pennsylvania and an employee put it on. It changed my musical world.

Sorry that you didn't enjoy the NIN show (seriously, not sarcastically). I've seen them 4 times and I swear they put on one of the best (out of the 200+ shows) I have seen. Honestly, you may have caught them on an off night. What tour was it? I remember the first time I saw them I was blown away for days. Trent Reznor is a musical genius. If they come around again, consider going. I honestly do not know how you could be bored at a NIN show. Were you familiar with the setlist?

Go on Stubhub.com There are several PIT tickets available.

Two tickets for Hamilton. I will be driving up (about seven hours) for the show. I've never been in Hamilton, just Toronto and Niagara Falls. Any recommendations for things to do, places to eat or bars would be appreciated if you're willing to PM me.

I am fairly new around here...as in I rarely post. I am very excited to announce I will be seeing my first Matthew Good show in Canada this fall. I've been lucky enough to see him twice in Philadelphia and once in NYC. I was kinda apprehensive about making the trip but I am hoping it's worth the hassle in crossing the boarder. It's a royal pain in the butt anymore. Anyway...I'm psyched.

Typical bus...more than I could afford but nothing that looked too crazy. I think Mick Jagger's might be a bit more extravagant. I do miss the occasional tours. I am debating the Toronto or Hamilton show...I keep going back and forth. I have never been to a show in Canada and wasn't sure what to expect. I know when he played full band in Philadelphia, the set list was like 9 or 10 songs...I know that sounds kinda short but I have the setlist. I just cannot see driving seven hours each way for a medium-length show. His solo shows in Philly and NYC were almost 2 1/2 hours. Toronto is the most beautiful city I have ever been to...so...again I toss around the idea...

I have been fortunate to meet Matthew Good three times, twice in Philadelphia and once in NYC. I have been a MG/MGB fan since I was in middle school and I heard "Beautiful Midnight" (yes, I know...the U.S. bitched up version). I may have used some Napster/WinMX since then to acquire his other albums (I bought them later). I have been fortunate to see so many shows throughout my life but live approximately six hours from Canada...so shows down here were not going to happen for a teenager with a car with 200,000 miles on it. In 2008, he finally decided to do a solo acoustic tour across the US and I did my best to get tickets but no venue in Philadelphia or D.C. would allow me in because it was 21+. Sucked. Knowing I was missing one of my favorite artists of my lifetime and he was performing only 2 hours from me was a big blow. Experience #1: In 2010, I saw my first Matthew Good show at the World Cafe Live in Philadelphia and it was full band. Remember for all of you Canadians that Matthew Good has all but no following here (compared to Canada)...there may have been maybe 200-300 people at the show max. After the show I was fortunate enough to be parked out back near the bus and told the drummer how much I enjoyed the show. Shortly after all of the other band members came out to smoke and hang out with the maybe five fans that stuck around. Matthew was sick but was still gracious enough to sign some stuff for me. We (one at a time) were invited on the tour bus where Matt was signing at the front in his PJs. I remember telling him how grateful I was that he finally decided to tour the U.S. Matt said not a word. I remember thinking that he was either really ill or just did not like being in the U.S. Oh well...good thing my other experiences were so much better. Experience #2: In 2012, I saw Matthew Good (again) in Philadelphia at the World Cafe Live but it was solo acoustic. I actually recorded the whole gig (shhh!!!) and made a DVD out of the like 2 hour show which was posted on Dimeadozen a few years back. The video quality is decent and the audio is excellent. Once again, met Mr. Good out back of the venue where the cars parked. Dare I say this show was even less attended then the first..there may have been 200 people. Matt was friendly as could be and took some pictures with my wife and I. Experience #3: In 2013, Matt played a one-off in New York City at Joe's Pub. Being the nerd I am, I face booked him a few days prior and asked if he'd sign my vinyl at the NYC show. He responded that he would. At the show, he remembered on his own and said, "Where's the guy who messaged me about the vinyl. Bring your vinyl up and I will sign it." If you have a bootleg of the show that was me called up. It's a damn shame Matt isn't popular down here in the states. I had tickets to his full band tour in 2012 in Philadelphia but the tour was canceled due to a lack of demand in ticket sales. I sorta figured my days of seeing Matt live are done as Toronto is a seven hour plus drive for me and with the hassle of boarder crossing, etc. I just do not know if it is worth it. Anyway...my experiences with Matt have been good. I found him to be a very thoughtful and introspective individual with no pretentiousness or arrogance. If anything he sometimes can come across a bit self-depreciating. That's my story...still kicking around the idea of Toronto 2015....

Fingers crossed for a Philadelphia or near-by city date...
-
I am going to try to make it to the Buffalo show. I had tickets to Philadelphia and it was canceled. Buffalo is about a six-hour drive for me...and it's been years since I was there (almost 20). Anyone have any feedback or advice of where to stay and some things to see to make a day out of it. I know I am not far from Niagara Falls. I heard there was a cool place nearby where you can see the Toronto skyline from like 50 miles away across the water. Am I correct? Anyone ever been to this venue? Is it good? Small?
-
No mention whatsoever. I did manage to find out from a reliable source that MG is doing a full band US tour this fall. When I inquired if its going to be extensive or just a few shows, I was told it will be one of his biggest pushes into the US. I was told NYC is a definite stop.
-
Cool. How accessible are subways to mid-town? Is parking cheaper in the south end?
-
Is anyone else besides me coming to the New York show next week. I'm driving from York, PA for the show...I try to catch any MG show I can...this is number 3 for me. Anyone else traveling far for this one? Has anyone ever been to the pub before? Any good restaurants around anyone would recommend?

Enjoy.

There may be a surprise on DIME tonight or tomorrow if all goes well.
-
Ok guys, serious question. I have the video concert of Philadelphia that was recorded and the quality is quite decent. I would give the video a seven and the audio an eight (out of 10). Is there a demand for it if I make a free DVD for DIME or something? I just want to make sure some of you would find it valuable before I invest a lot of time editing and making it available. Please let me know.
