The Cure = New album
october replied to juanpe's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
The song Pictures of You is still one of my all time favorite songs. -
Great songwriter, great author, good guitarist, great vocalist, that's my opinion...it's a whole package thing ya know?...Kurt wasn't an amazing guitar player either but look where he got....

Michael Moore is necessary in the media of today, that's for sure. I think personally that he's a little bit high on his horse so to speak...I get the impression that he thinks he's a "pretty good guy" for doing this, which kinda defeats the purpose...but he's necessary nonetheless.

The Cure = New album

I think that Matt Good and the Cure have a lot of musical things in common actually. Both are rather cynical when you hear them talk or read their lyrics. I think that anyone who enjoys these bands and is really into them sees things more for what they are...no blinders. Anyone who thinks that all music, as in all aspects of life, should always be hunky-dory needs to wake up to reality. Just my opinion. -
Where can one find these remixes?

1985's "Clue" Based on the board game. Tim Curry is hilarious in it. So cheesy.

They're called the Bikini Bandits. They're in a series of cult films, one of which is called The Bikini Bandits Experience, in which Maynard plays Satan. Actually it's just him with horns, a red face, and an S&M outfit...i know. Corey Feldman's in it too....so is DeeDee Ramone. 3 Libras is a superior song...I saw APC live 3 times and each time it's just as powerful to hear it.

I saw Radiohead in the summer of 2001 at Thunderbird with the Beta Band...they played 2.5 hours...it was nuts. No Fake Plastic Trees though... ;) Saw them at the Coachella festival again a few months back in Indio. They were amazing, but the Cure owned. -
Any live footage from this tour?

I saw Karen O. of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs live and she was pretty nuts...not Thom Yorke nuts...but nuts. -
Chalk it up to the sheep mentality of a rock crowd....not speaking for everyone of course.

I say that beside any insult or blatantly stupid post, any post is meaningful in that it keeps the community going. And in addition...get back to us when you have more than 7 posts before bashing anything. Have a nice day.

In my day I've been to probably over 50 concerts and/or festivals including Ozzfest and Lollapalooza. I've also been to many shows at clubs and bars where (unfortunately) a lot of times, the crowd still consists of about 25% chauches and drunken jocks. Now, at one of the Ozzfests I went to, there was a pit of about literally 400 people or so. Hence, when I hear some girl in a Matt Good crowd ask her friend if she's "afraid of mosh pits" I have to tell her that this will not be a mosh pit. People pushing and moving is not a pit. Which brings me to my main point. How come at shows like when Slayer was on at Ozzfest and people were literally being thrown in the air and you'd see 40 people all flying in a circle like nuts, people are on average the nicest folks.......I saw Matt Good in Calgary and for both shows was at the front against the rail smack dab in the middle. I was being squished but hey....you're at a rock show. I couldn't move but had some dumb jock in a white hat bitch and moan and whine for half the show that my elbow was "digging into his rib" and that i should "stop it anytime"....despite the fact that I couldn't move enough to do so. I've been to shows like this that weren't as insane, yet the crowds seem to whine and complain more. What's up with that? end of rant.

I wouldn't call it so much of a case of Matthew Good being mistreated as much as all musicians being mistreated. I've seen people toss shit onstage at many a concert.

Great Canadian Bands!

Rusty - Long since broken up...word was that the vocalist Ken MacNeil was going solo...well he went solo...so low we cou.....never mind. The Hip - Still going strong. New album came out 2 days ago...first single Vaccination Scar is ok. Never was too much into them. Sandbox - Same as Rusty. Broke up. Headstones - Had a new album a few years back that didn't sell...check your local McDonald's for current bandmember status. I Mother Earth - Quiksilver Meat Dream was released in April of 2003....didn't sell exceptionally well. Still with Edwin's replacement Ryan or Brian whatever his name is. Moist - Broke up officially I believe. David Usher's cd Hallucinations didn't sell as well as Morning Orbit. Not using sales to determine talent or quality of record....just a fact. I liked Morning Orbit more personally. What Mark or any of the other guys are up to is anyone's guess. Econoline Crush - Defunct. Last album was a loooong time ago and no new dates or info regarding anyone in the band...www.econolinecrush.com has been sold to someone else apparently...never a good sign of a glorious comeback. Chantal Kreviazuk - Still married to Raine Maida...probably still going to tour and record...just helped produce Avril Lavigne's new album if I remember correctly. -
And if you want to read the book that pretty much started it all, get your hands on "Holy Blood, Holy Grail"...
-
Just goes to show that it doesn't matter what kind of music a group of people like...some people just won't "get it" ya know?
-
Yeah all those actors are up for the lead in the Da Vinci Code...I'd like to see Jackman or someone like that just cause it'd be good to have a name in there...but not Tom Cruise kind of name ya know?...wouldn't matter too much if the screenplay is good...they've got a lot to work with, but that isn't always a sure thing.....
-
An MGB dvd would be amazing...so much footage must be floating out there somewhere....as for a new DVD, it'd have to have live performances but I want backstage and on the road footage too...that'd be what would peak my interest.
-
Sigh...yes there's a move in the works. Supposedly everyone and their grandma wants in on the lead as the book is so damn good. Top runners for the role of Langdon: George Clooney, Hugh Jackman, Tom Hanks, Johnny Depp, and a few others I can't remember. I'd like Depp or Jackman...Clooney would probably make me projectile vomit.

Yes it is. It's about cipher-breaking. As it's Brown's work, it's insanely good. Deception Point is another of his books, though not in my top 3. Hopefully Ron Howard doesn't butcher it when he makes the movie next year....I'll be choked.

The Metric system is inferior, definitely. The band however are very good. Haven't seen them live, but I imagine that it would be very entertaining. -
I read Angels and Demons first actually as it was the same character but before the Da Vinci Code. Try Digital Fortress too...it's insane.
