I'm out of the loop on PC programs, but getting DVD's onto a Mac is really easy. There is an app called "Mac The Ripper" (terrible I know) that can de-region, de-macrovision, and read all copy protection I've ever encountered. Once you have the VIDEO_TS folder, I'm sure there are apps for converting for playback... Come to think of it, you can just extract the title feature, and demux the VOB to get the individual streams (.m2v, .ac3, .dts, .pcm, .spc) which are the MPEG-2, and then 3 different sound streams (see http://www.file-extensions.org for more description). I'm not sure what you would need to compile an MPEG-4 or H.264 video (iPod formats). There are a couple of VOB to MPEG-4 converters on versiontracker.com (see http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/18765). I don't have a video iPod though, so I can't suggest a process. *edit* Also, copying DVD's you OWN shouldn't be a crime. The MPAA on the other hand would like to think it is. In theory it is fair use, and you should be allowed to make backup copies for your own personal use, however, I'm not current on recent cases and don't know how well 'fair use' has held up.

I'm using Safari 3.0.3. I'm liking it. I like the fast load time of the App.. I have to wait a few seconds for Firefox to start. Safari and Firefox should have comparable. Apple's web site (http://www.apple.com/safari/) claims Safari 3 to be faster overall. The biggest things that the browser does for speed is use of cache, and use of HTTP 1.1 pipelining. IE has used parallel connections (up to 7) for speed in the past, but each connection incurs a setup and tear-down cost of the link. Firefox uses pipelining, and to an extent will parallel, this leads to faster load times. Safari in past used to use strictly pipelining, which is why it was fast, but not the fastest. I don't know what Safari 3 is doing. Other reasons to use Firefox is DOM compliance. Firefox has the most standard implementation of WC3's standards on HTML rendering. As such when going to a website that is WC3 compliant Firefox is the most likely to correctly render it.

Racism, appears to be an ever tightening noose. Because invariable anything you say or do can be (and will be) construed as racist. The anti-racism movement is so quick to judge that we almost get a reverse effect. We become unable to have discourse on racial issues. We in-fact avoid talking about africans not because we don't like them, but because we feel that doing so will get us labeled racist no matter how positive our discussion. When everything must analyzed, maybe it is best if we just keep the shooting games to races which have no subgroups that will think ill of us.

Since you really only need DVD9 for full length movies ~120 minutes, and there is less than 60 minutes on this DVD I really don't see why you would need the extra space. You are basically suggesting that the video would be encoded at near double the quality of a movie DVD. That aside, I have never had a problem with my DVD quality is better than cable, and can we really ask for any more than that?
