  1. I've read in another post that some people seem pretty familiar with Matt's wife, apparently she's really beautiful. I was just wondering if there are pics of her anywhere. I know Matt's really private, so I won't be surprised if there are no pictures.
  2. Audio of Being all the way! It's the most personal album in my opinion and that makes it stay close to my heart. I'm listening to it today on the bus and at work.
  3. I work in a telephone call center and Office Space is a movie that comes up daily. We work with several of the "real life versions" of the movie characters. Sometimes I laugh a little too hard in places. Stupid, dead end job! I think I'll rewatch it this weekend in fact. The bitterness is about to boil over again.
  4. To Lydia and Crusader: You both have great taste in movies. I like your choices. My Top 5: 1. Moulin Rouge 2. Fight Club 3. Velvet Goldmine 4. Being John Malkovich 5. Magnolia
  5. Large rant coming up, just to warn you all. This movie creeps me out, but let me explain why. I've always wanted to see it, but have never gotten around to it. My fiance's friend even borrowed him her copy to watch, but we never had time to watch it. One night, I'm at his place, I fall asleep early in bed. I wake up, it's late, the TV is on, I hear music, it's right at the end montage of the movie. I just watch it over his shoulder. I see the guy getting rushed to emergency, I see the mother getting shock therapy, etc. The movie ends, he drives me home so I can go back to sleep. I have a nightmare about the shock therapy, this is due to the fact my grandmother went through shock treatment herself, and my mom always talks about how horrible it was and that she was never the same person after it was done to her. I felt incredible sorrow for those 2 women who visited the mother in the movie, because for the first time, it seemed real. I could picture my Mom visiting Nana in the mental hospital, seeing her mother, but it's not the same person, part of her is gone, and it just makes me want to cry. Sometimes I think watching the whole movie from the beginning will make this feeling go away, but I just can't bring myself to rewatch that scene again. Rant over.

    Weapon

I did the same thing the first time I saw the video. All I know is that Matt had a big problem with insomnia. It may be real or imagined but I think I remember reading a manifesto or letter from Matt saying how good his life was going and that the insomnia had gone away. This first letter seems to show it was short-lived. The second letter, I'm not sure first off who Pat is, a family member, friend, man or woman? It seems very self reflective. Almost like poetry.

    Raygun

This is one song I've never been able to figure out with any certainty. I've always assumed it's about him and a girl. It's like they might have had a relationship that was destructive and unhealthy.
  8. Has anyone seen the video for ASR on MuchMusic yet? Is it getting much air play? I'm interested in seeing it.
  9. "I harrased the people at the Savoy Theatre everyday leading up till the concert, to make sure they understood that i wanted to get my guitar signed and meet the fella. Ohhh the wonders of fanaticism!" Wow, that's all your have to do? I'll keep that in mind. ;) I'm also new here. Another long time devotee. Ever since the debut of Everything is Automatic on the radio I've been a diehard fan. It's scary to think it's been that many years already, I still want to tell people I'm 16!
  10. Most under-rated songs? LOTGA, Ommissions of the Omen, the hidden track definitely qualifies. From Underdogs, there would be The Inescapable Us, which others have mentioned. From BM, A Boy and His Machine Gun. From Loser Anthems, Flashdance II, and The Fine Art of Falling Apart. All of AOB, this album is a masterpiece, but especially The Workers Sing a Song of Mass Production. I listened to nothing but this CD for a whole year (I'm not kidding!) It never left my discman or CD player. The CD expressed perfectly where I was at that point in my life (very low) and helped me through. From Avalanche, Double Life, and Long Way Down. Matt himself I think is under-rated. And his book is under-rated too.
