  1. I'm still kicking myself for missing them at Warped Tour a couple years back. Picked up The Refused Are Fucking Dead DVD when it came out a month or so ago, as well. An excellent watch, that. has a live show and a badass documentary about the dissolution of Refused.
  2. Complete sucker for Tegan & Sara. Saw them with the girlfriend on our first "date" (Or second? It was a weird week) last Feb. Excellent show. Can't wait for their DVD to come out.
  3. Peeping Tom - Your Neighbourhood Spaceman (Feat. Jel & Odd Nosdam)
  4. I dig these lads. Their live show's a hell of a good time, and they're a shit-ton better than most of the drivel being pumped over the airwaves. Not calling 'em brain surgery, but I've no shame liking them.
  5. Been meaning to read that at some point. I expect I'll be pleasantly surprised. I tend to enjoy near-incoherent novels. Right now, reading Ubik by Philip K. Dick and The Wind Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami
  6. Man. I've got oodles. can't even fathom right now.
  7. reviews shmeviews. I hear tell Psylocke will be kicking around in this one. seen a couple pics. The plot could have been written by an epilleptic monkey in the throes of alcohol poisoning... If there's a purple-haired ninja-psychic, I'm going to be inappropriately excited for this.
  8. At the risk of sounding like a complete and utter nerd... I really don't care one way or the other. So long as it's Mr. Good at the helm, I tend to enjoy it.
  9. It's nice to know I wasn't alone on that one.
  10. ;) Besmirching Aqua Teen?! UNACCEPTABLE! Well, the first season was kind of lame. But the third season? Amazing.
  11. hahaha, well, the non-mainstream (or at least most of the non-mainstream... and a few of the mainstream) british stuff is pretty decent. Jesu, Oceansize, Radiohead, Mclusky.
  12. I personally dig them. They're not an "amazing" band... But they've got it where it counts, and they're british... So that's a plus.
  13. King's always been a man that has left me leery. I'm at odds with his sobriety when it comes to writing. I.e. The Shining, written while he struggled with at least alcohol abuse (possibly other substances).... His best work. Cujo... Obviously written while coked out of his skull... Doesn't make any goddamn sense. And I have no idea which retarded exec decided to make a movie out of it. That said, the fact that he started in ernest to finish the dark tower series bespeaks a man who is starting to write for himself, rather than, as he claims, "telling stories people will like" So The Cell definitely has my attention. I'm just waiting for it to hit the discount shelves at Chapters, so I can pick it up for five or six bucks.
  14. THE SOUND AND THE FURY by William Faulkner SLAUGHTERHOUSE-FIVE by Kurt Vonnegut SISTER CARRIE by Theodore Dreiser LORD OF THE FLIES by William Golding THE SUN ALSO RISES by Ernest Hemingway ON THE ROAD by Jack Kerouac PALE FIRE by Vladimir Nabokov TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD by Harper Lee THE LORD OF THE RINGS by J.R.R. Tolkien DUNE by Frank Herbert ANIMAL FARM by George Orwell GRAVITY'S RAINBOW by Thomas Pynchon A PRAYER FOR OWEN MEANY by John Irving THE HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY by Douglas Adams ENDER'S GAME by Orson Scott Card STARSHIP TROOPERS by Robert Heinlein NAKED LUNCH by William S. Burroughs ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST by Ken Kesey Some of them awesome, some of them torturous experiences, but I've eaten these ones.
  15. First time I saw Mare, I wasn't hugely impressed, but I caught them a few other times, and they really got under my skin. I really dug the new song they played at the beginning of their set. As for Polmo Polpo... I really dig the Science of Breath. As techno goes, that's my jam. But haven't heard his other stuff. He seemed to be really uncomfortable, though. Set up his merch booth, but left it alone for pretty much the entire night, then he started packing it up, real fast. And yeah, Isis sounds much more immediate with their live show. They seemed to be more comfortable making some aspects of Panopticon more aggressive... At least it seemed that way. Kinda bummed that Isis didn't have much in the way of tshirts kicking around. Comforted myself with picking up Silver by Jesu, and Celestial/Sgnl05 by Isis.
  16. Since Hooker w/a Penis was taken. The Pot by Tool
  17. Held off on listening to the new Tool till the day it came out (picked it up, put it in the cd player, the whole bit) Cover art is amazing. The CD just gets better with every listen. I wasn't a fan of the Pot my first time through, but it's fast becoming one of my favourites. Wings/10,000 Days just shatters me every time I hear it, and Jambi (the one track I heard on the Edge prior to the release date) is also quickly becoming a favourite, considering I wasn't huge on it when I heard it. Excellent, excellent effort from these boys, can't wait for the 16th.
  18. I will support this one. The new album wasn't too shabby either... What I remember of it.
  19. Isis - Celestial (Signal Fills the Void)
