  1. Haha, it's funny to hear something that was released two years ago as "old" but yeah. I've got the Like A Virgin EP and This Is Meant to Hurt You. (And Oxeneers, of course) I really dig "Touched for the Very First Time." Snere's vocals with the guy from Harkonen's... Just such a crazy tune. And yeah, their live show is pretty crazy. I saw them play Lee's Palace in Toronto with Isis and Mare just after Oxeneers came out, and it was insane. www.fabchannel.com has one of their live shows up (as well as a live show from Isis, for the curious.) Snere's vocals seem a bit off for that one, though. They sounded much better when I saw 'em in Toronto, but I digs it anyways. Seriously can't wait for Easter to drop in October.
  2. Hahah, I imagine they get a lot of stuff like that these days. Man. I can't wait to see Snakes on a Plane.
  3. Any rate, they posted a new song on their myspace. Actually, they posted three new songs. Their album, Easter, is coming out Oct. 9th. Excitement.
  4. Pre-hype: I tried to enjoy Panic. I gave them all the benefits of the doubt. But no dice. Their stuff got weak and tired like a hooker turning her twentieth trick of the night. I'll even admit to enjoying Fall Out Boy. The difference is: we played the shit out of both bands at work for days on end, and I'd find myself grinding my teeth whenever Panic came on. As for Alexisonfire: George MAKES their live shows. Dallas may excel at the intimate City & Colour gigs, but he's nearly a cardboard cutout when he's with Alexisonfire on stage. George has excellent stage presence, at least. As for their albums, I like Watch Out, a lot. But I still say their self-titled owns it, hand over fist. They also have a new song up on their myspace. (Which has already been touched on somewhere in here, I'm sure. I dig it)
  5. The Recluse is an amazing tune. Much loves for Cursive. Domestica is a badass album, too.
  6. Dookie is still a classic album. Apparitions - Matthew Good Band
  7. Devil in Mexico - Murder By Death
  8. The Most Serene Republic - You're Not An Astronaut.
  9. Pale Pink Vodka Veins - Some Girls.
  10. Doris Day - My Hands, My Plans
  11. Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World
  12. The witch hunt that went down with Frey over that book was bloody despicable. Oh shit. A writer made something up? Perish the thought. Picked up the first graphic novel of Preacher yesterday. Finished it today. God damn, it's a good time.
  13. Yeah, I found it really heart wrenching. Thought it was really cool how they had some footage from when the cops broke up their last show, and their reactions to that. Refused was a great, great band, but I think if they had tried to keep going, they would have killed each other.
  14. The Most Serene Republic - Anhoi Polloi
  15. Saw these folks last night in Waterloo. They're originally from my hometown of Milton though. Their first album came out last year (Underwater Cinematographer) on Arts & Crafts. Kind of a Broken Social Scene vibe, at least on that album, very quiet melodies, all that. Their live show is something else, though. So energetic, can't help but rock out to 'em. They released a tour EP called Phages earlier on this year. Picked that up last night, and it's probably more representative of their music. The drums are much more in the fore, and there seems to be much more jittering around. Definitely worth a listen. Their site
  16. First few listens to this, and I wasn't really sure. I liked Mojo, but was undecided about a good chunk of it. Picked it up yesterday, though, because Patton deserves the support. After a few serious listens, I've been getting into it a lot. There's still a shitload going on in the songs, so it takes a few times through to get a feel for who's where, doing what. But I'm definitely enjoying this one more and more. The packaging for the CD is insane, though. Maybe not as crazy as 10,000 days, but still pretty nifty.
  17. They're a good scene. I can respect what they're doing. I still see their stuff as wearing thin eventually. I mean. The Darkness had some silly chops when it came to the 80's metal thing... And while they released a new CD not too long ago, it's not like they garnered much attention with it.
